Laughter is Good Medicine

I don’t know about you, but I love to laugh. I love to be around people who make me laugh. Life is serious enough and there have been seasons in my life that I struggled to find my laughter.

When we are in difficult seasons laughter can be the medicine we need. There is nothing selfish about asking God to send more of it into our lives. Laughter is infectious. If we are more joyful, then it is likely that our joy will spread to others.

Here are some scripture verses about laughter:

  • A time to cry and a time to LAUGH. Ecclesiastes 3:4a
  • He will once again fill your mouth with LAUGHTER and your lips with shouts of joy. Job 8:21
  • A CHEERFUL disposition is good for your health. Proverbs 17:22a
  • We were filled with LAUGHTER, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the LORD has done for them.” Psalm 162:2
  • Sarah then said, “God has given me cause to LAUGH, and all who hear of it will LAUGH with me. Genesis 21:6

Each day brings new opportunities and a fresh start. We can put yesterday’s trials and troubles aside and begin again. Decide today to find joy and laughter somewhere in your day, and then try to bring it to those around you.

Remember,  This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

Look forward to a wonderful day ahead and don’t look at the mistakes and problems of yesterday. When Wayne and I need a good laugh, we watch this video of a little boy making his case for a cupcake. He is a hoot!

Have a blessed day!

  1. Have LOVED this video since the first time I saw it a few years ago. One of my son’s sends it to me every time he sees it! So glad to see others appreciate the humor and laugh along, too!

  2. It is so funny that you are talking about
laughter, I was just laughing at a video
around 7:00 this evening, I laughed so hard
that my eye make-up was a complete mess!
I needed that laugh so much because I get
caught up in important life-duties and forget
    to JUST laugh, thanks Cyndi!!
Have a blessed evening and up-coming week!!

  3. “Listen Linda ” , It doesn’t matter how many times I watch this video it makes me smile . I love it ! And we say that too .

  4. That video was awesome and a bit too funny.❤️❤️⭐️🍔 Hi Cyndi! That was my 9year old daughter that wanted to comment! I just wanted to say hi. I’ve been following your blog for years, I’m from Sydney Australia. You feel like a friend and I love your fashion and encouragement in following Jesus. I’ve been following you and Jo-Lynne for so long I get my seasons mixed up here in Australia! I appreciate what you do. Warm blessings, Belinda 😊

  5. You are a breath of fresh air. Your openness, your love of God and country. The sharing of real life and fashion. I look forward to your email every day. Thank you from Idaho…..

  6. I totally agree with you about laughter and it is a gift from God!
I have loved this you tube video with Mateo and his Mom Linda since I first saw it, but there is a new one that my daughter recently told me about. I’m not sure of the exact name of this video but it’s a Scottish Grandmother reading a book about a donkey to her 4 month old Grandson….. it’s just priceless and will definitely get you going with a good belly laugh! Check it out!
    Grateful for his Blessings

  7. So funny. This is a video that we laugh about at my work…we are always saying to each other, “Listen Linda”! hahahaha

  8. FYI-I sent previously sent this comment so if it is a repeat (it never showed), I apologize.

Thanks for reminding me to laugh!

I wanted to share a memory about laughter.

Growing up and during hard times (divorce, financial, etc) I remember my mother standing in front of the mirror, while getting ready in the morning, and making herself laugh. At the time I thought, “how silly”!

I now realize it was an informal form of therapy ( we could not afford professional help).

Wow, she was right!!! Releases endorphins and starts your day on a good note.

    Thanks mom!!!!

  9. Happy Sunday Cyndi. !!!

I ALWAYS say “Listen Linda” to my dog “CJ”
who is a Shih-Tzu…..when he’s in trouble! I crack up every time.

Have an awesome time away celebrating Wayne’s Birthday….it’s nice to get away.🎂🎉

  10. Thank you for reminding me to laugh. I should not have to be “reminded”.

I wanted to share a quick memory with you…

Growing up my mother and I went through some rough times (divorce, finances, work, etc). I remember my mother standing in front her mirror and making herself laugh. At the time so thought, how silly!

I know realize that it was her therapy as we could not afford a “professional”. She was increasing her endorphins and basically telling herself to feel better.

    Wow, she was right.

    Thanks for letting me share

  11. Oh I know this u tube clip well and it’s a hoot… Our children are the best at finding these and sharing them with us… oh if we could just laugh more and not sweat the little stuff… my goal.. I start each day with my prayer time and quote the verse Psalms 118:24. Such a great reminder.
Have a great day and Happy Birthday wishes to Wayne. I hope the rain doesn’t dampen your plans too much.🎉🎉🎈🎈🎂🎂

  12. I love that video! I’ve seen it before. I wonder if I can use that when I need to convince my husband of something? 🤣

Love all the scriptures on laughter. And it’s true! I’ve been in the middle of a situation and something made me laugh and you can just feel the stress go away! God knew what He was doing when He created laughter. ❤️

I hope the rain holds off so you and Wayne can enjoy your trip. Have a blessed time!

  13. Loved this post!!! Tha Bible verses about laughter, the advice about laughing more and particularly little Mateo and his “Listen, Linda!!….” pleas for a cupcake. You made my day!!
