My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

Well, happy Monday! We had a whirlwind weekend. Actually,  I feel every weekend is a whirlwind these days! Monday is always my regroup day.

I get asked all the time what are the basic wardrobe pieces in my closet? I have written about this over the years, but I thought I would update.

These are the pieces I wear all the time. I mix and match them with different clothes in my closet.

My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

First up, I love a good pair of jeans. My favorites are AG jeans, I have lots of different brands of jeans, but hands down these are my favorites. I always buy them when they’re on sale.

My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

I always have different styles of a black and white striped top. I recently ordered this one from Amazon.

My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

I love a denim jacket. I wear it all year long, but especially during the spring and fall when I need a light jacket.

My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

Another basic piece that I always have is black pumps. I recently purchased these and I wear them all the time.

My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

I love having a black scarf in my wardrobe. I add it to so many of my fall and winter outfits.

My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

Nude pumps are another basic wardrobe piece for me. They add class to any outfit, but I love wearing them with skinny jeans.

My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

A black sweater is another piece I have in my wardrobe that I wear all the time. I’m also wearing gold hoops in this picture which I think are a classic.

My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

Leaoprd flats are a must for me. I wear them year round (except when the temperatures are below freezing then I have to wear boots).

My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

A little black dress is a closet staple. Winter, summer, spring, and fall,  I love a good black dress.

My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

A have a lot of white t-shirts, and they’re a closet staple all year long. I probably wear LOFT t-shirts the most.

Last, but not least, I love a chambray shirt. I have this one, and I wear it all year long.

My Basic Wardrobe Pieces

So, these are some of my favorite basic wardrobe pieces. Do you have a basic piece that you love to wear?

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and, Instagram.

Beauty For The Heart~~I stretched out the sky like a canopy and laid the foundations of the earth. I am the one who says to Israel, ‘You are my people!’ Isaiah 51:16

If today, you are wondering if God is big enough to handle your problem?? Let me remind you, he stretched out the sky like a canopy and laid the foundations of the earth.

He is big enough to handle whatever you are going through!

Have a blessed day!

  1. This is the first time you’ve published on of these and I’m good to go with all of these in my closet already and agree they are well used. Following you and Jo-Lynne these last few years has really changed how I shop. Thank you for that. I love my closet much more than I used to. I probably need to replace my white t-shirts this year. They are looking a little worn and starting to have slight staining under the arms so wouldn’t want to take off my cardigan or jacket!

  2. I have all the basics you shared, except for the leopard flats…I’m still on the hunt for those. My blue jean jacket is indispensable…I wore it almost every day on our trip to France last fall, casual during the day tours and dressed up for dinner. I would add skinny black jeans, black leggings, a pretty, print scarf, and a good trench coat to the basics list. Thank you for all your posts and suggestions…I love them! Blessings to you and yours this new year!

  3. Whew, I was glad to see I have everything on your basics list, minus the leopard print flats but I’m not an animal print gal. Other basics I would include are pearl stud earrings, black & navy pants, black, navy and grey tee, black and taupe flats, taupe booties and athletic shoes. I would also add really good underwear and a foundation under garment for dresses.

  4. Loved this post! So helpful. I also got so much encouragement from BFTH. We have a difficult, painful situation to deal with right now and it was so great to be reminded that God is big enough to handle it!

  5. I love this post. Your selections will make almost a whole wardrobe. Like some of the other posters, I’d add black pants, and also I’d add a trench coat for a dressier outerwear option. There would be literally nowhere these pieces couldn’t take you!

  6. Cyndi, I think you are the classiest lady on the net! I love this post. I’m really surprised by how many are trying to give up black, though. I finally did it a few years ago. All that’s left is funeral clothes and yoga pants! Brown, bright olive green and tan are my neutrals. I still like a heavy dose of leopard, though! Definitely trying the AG jeans. TY, again for all your inspirational fashion and faith.

  7. I love the beige wedge heel sandals worn with the denim jacket and long black skirt! Where can I buy these? thanks!

  8. You’ve said it in this post, but a jeans jacket is indispensable! I could wear mine almost every day. I recently ran into a customer where I work part-time with the very same jacket on (Target Merona from eons ago), and we agreed it was a classic that we’d use until it actually fell apart. Black leggings, too…

  9. Thank you for the post today, it was very helpful.
It also reminded me of what I need to replace.
Have a blessed week and evening!!

  10. My staple has to be my black ankle boots. Cold and damp weather – which we have a lot of they are the simplest way to dress up most outfits

  11. Love your choices for the basics. I’m pretty much covered but I’d have to include a pullover grey sweater, long sleeve black tee, comfortable sneaker shoes or sneaker as well as a great pair of leggings. I bought that red plaid scarf and ordered the suede hobo bag… I’d love to add some pumps with that style heel.
    Blessings
    Karen

  12. Black pants are another staple I always have in my closet. You can dress for anything with a pair of black pants.

  13. These are spot on as usual Cyndi! and I’m on the hunt for comfortable leopard print flats, or with a 2inch or less heel. I love the fun punch they add but finding comfortable ones has proven to be a challenge. To be honest, I’m at the age where comfort reins over fashion most of the time. In other words, I may suffer thru a wedding in heels I wouldn’t normally wear, but I’m not going to suffer thru a workday in uncomfortable shoes :-). At 55, I have also been advised to start replacing my “black” items with navy blue but I’m not sure I’m totally on board with that as I love the color black and wear it year round.
I’m not doing the FWTFL bootcamp this round because I’m still having great results with the round I did in August, but I will say if any of your readers is on the fence about it, I say, do it – do it now! I have been so pleased with my results – down over 16 pounds since August – and most of that has been belly weight that I thought would never come off. Thank you a million times for introducing me to FWTFL!!! I’m a fan!

  14. Wow! I have them all, except my flats are python print, instead of leopard. I agree that a good white shirt is a staple as well. I got a great one at Chico’s. You are right on the money, as usual, Cyndi.

  15. I have a go-to navy dress instead of black, and I don’t have the leopard flats or jean jacket (yet!), but otherwise I have all these. I would have to say my additional go to items are a button down shirt (I work full time) and for weekends a vest for the spring and fall. I would also say a good pair of runners would be on my list.
