Question and Answers – January 2019

One of the hardest parts of being an online influencer is answering questions. Hear me out; it’s not because I don’t want to answer them, but I get them everywhere.

I get questions here on my blog, on Facebook, on Instagram, Messenger, Instastories, and emails.

I want to answer every question but there are times ( like this past year when I was dealing with both of my in-law’s health issues and then death) that I’m not able to get to all of them, and I feel horrible.

When I start to get the same questions over and over again, I like to do a Questions and Answers post hoping if I haven’t answered your question, I will answer it here.

1. What is the paint color in your home?

I get asked this all the time. It’s a little darker than this picture, and the color is Greenbriar Beige from Benjamin Moore. I recently painted my dining room White Dove from Benjamin Moore, and I will eventually paint more of my home in the lighter color. Also, you can find my jute rug HERE.

2. How do you organize your clothes? Your shoes?

Okay, ladies let’s have a serious conversation about this question. Because I’m a fashion blogger everyone assumes I’m organized (why?) and that I have a massive closet. Both statements are false.

I am organized at times. I also clear out stuff all the time. I don’t like clutter nor do I keep extra stuff. So I don’t have a lot of clutter in my home.

When we were purchasing our home last year, we had a list of things we were looking for in a new home.

  • Land ✔️
  • Double front doors ✔️
  • Large kitchen ✔️
  • Fireplace ✔️
  • Large Master Bath ✔️
  • Large Master Closet – Did not get this!

We have extra bedrooms in our home with large walk-in closets (bigger than the master, makes no sense!) and I use those for extra storage. But my master closet is small. I put my shoes on shelves. I don’t store them in boxes. I am constantly trying on outfits, taking pictures, etc. and I don’t want to go through shoe boxes.

3. I get a ton of questions about what I eat? When I exercise?

I completely understand that if you’re doing the FWTFL bootcamp, the food thing can get crazy. But there is a lot of help. I follow Beth @seersuckerandsaddles (Beth is a sweetie, but she does cuss so if that bothers you, don’t follow her. While we are different I still love what she shares with the FWTFL) on Instagram. She shares lots of food options,

I also follow @lorenmattingly on Instagram, and she shares lots of good food choices for the FWTFL.

I’m not a person who has to change up my daily meal plans. I can eat the same lunch all week. I love to eat chicken or tuna salad. I fix it with 1 T Organic Mayo, some pickle relish, and one hard-boiled egg.

My favorite place to share food options is on Instastories. Here is a clip I shared this week. If you want to see the behind the scenes stuff of my life (and if you don’t I completely understand. Haha!) Instastories is where you’ll find it.

As far as exercising there is a daily exercise program with the FWTFL bootcamp that changes each day. I do them whenever I can do them. I like to exercise early in the morning, but if that doesn’t work out, I do it later in the day.

Also, I get asked why are you still doing the FWTFL if you don’t need to lose weight? I answer that HERE.

4. Who are your favorite Christian authors/speakers?

Oh my, I have a ton! I love Lysa Teurkerst, Christine Caine, Lisa Bevere, Beth Moore, and Priscilla Shirer. I like women who encourage, who are real and who love Jesus.

Right now, I’m facilitating It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way on Sunday nights at my church.

5. What is one beauty advice you would give to a woman over 40?

Well, we could talk all day about this!! I mentioned on Instagram and in my email (if you don’t get my daily email, you can subscribe here, I also share more in my email than on the blog) that I get Botox and filler.

I know everyone does not agree, but it’s an individual choice. Overwhelmingly, you all want to know what I have had done, and because we’re friends, I’m going to share. Friends share this kind of stuff with each other. Stay tuned!!

If I had to say what one beauty advice I would give women over 40, it would be to make sure you have eyebrows that are defined. As we age, we lose our eyebrows, and they lose their shape. Eyebrows make your face!

You can easily fill them in with eyebrow pencil or powder. Right now I’m using this.

I had microblading last year, and I think it’s a game changer. I love it and have gone in for fill-ins. If you’re local, I go to Feather and Blade and Holly does mine.

Okay, I hope this helps!! I will answer more in February.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and, Instagram.

  1. Hi Cyndi

I would like to know what colour you use on your hair? Do you put highlights in as well?
    Thank you

  2. hey Cyndi!
I stumbled across you on Pinterest- I love love love your style and attitude. you are a blessing and an encouragement to me to keep going forward with faith and fortitude. and beauty is not only on the outside, it starts within.
I am going to be 60 this year and have to continue to remind myself of all these things. thank you for the encouragement to stay fresh on the outside and not let what I feel like determine how I look and visa versa. God has made each of us uniquely beautiful. for me its all about balance, spiritually, physically and mentally.
sending you cyber love and hugs..G

  3. Good morning Cyndi,
Thank you for making a difference in my life. The Lord always uses your words to speak to me!
I would like to hear your Mother’s Day talk titled “Gripping His Hem” from 2016. Is that possible?
    Standing in the Gap,
    Dianne Keene

  4. My sister, who lives in Seattle, had microblading done on her eyebrows last year after she lost them due to a second round of chemo therapy. She has metastatic breast cancer, but God has mercifully protected her and is keeping her healthy. To show her our support and in solidarity with her, my other sister and I both had our eyebrows microbladed last fall and we love the look! While a little uncomfortable to endure, it was well worth it. Made a huge difference on my face and saves me time. We three sisters look marvelous!

  5. Hi Cyndi,
Had microblading done today!!! I’m 54 years old and appreciate your posts, thank you!
I want that green turtleneck sweater you have in this post and can’t find where you’ve linked it!! Like the jeans also, help!🤗Kathy

    1. Hi Kathy. The post on January 14 on different shoes with the same outfit styled the sweater from Nordstrom and the jeans are AG brand( I believe). Hope you don’t mind me answering Cyndi:)
      Hope this helps
      Karen

  6. 1- I would appreciate anyone’s response regarding OTC creams for bags under your eyes they bother me the most. My wrinkles are minimal/ manageable.
2nd- Other than the FWTWL, does anyone have luck with any other weight loss regimens that have gained weight with menopause?
I have my son’s wedding this fall and would like to lose 25lbs prior to dress shopping! 😊
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 😊😊😊

    1. Hi Kim,
I have had a good experience with Trim Healthy Mama (THM) plus exercise. Doing both simultaneously gave me great results, while doing them separately didn’t accomplish much for me.
It can be tricky starting out, but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy and works without ever feeling hungry. Best wishes, Katie

      1. Thank you Katie for responding! 😊
I will definitely look at THM, I did find a good plan on skinny ms. They have a four step weight loss challenge/ plan.
All steps very doable, one step being including exercise of at least 30 minutes a day. The biggest challenge is just starting, then continue till it becomes a habit, way of life.
        Thank you again, Kim 🌼

  7. I agree that Microblading is a game changer. One of the best things I have ever done. I get botox as well and love it. I always enjoy your posts and read them every day (and buy a lot of things you have). Thanks for answering the questions. I’m getting close to needing a fill on my eyebrows so I’m going to try the IT you suggested. Happy Thursday.

    1. Carla, I have heard that you look like Groucho Marx for 3 days when you first get microblading. Did you have that issue? Or anyone else reading? My hair is about Cyndi’s color and my eyebrows are brown.

      Thanks!

  8. My paint color is willow leaf or something like that. I will check FB and see . It is a green used thru the main areas. My piece of advice to over 40 is save the strict dieting……..you will need the fat later in your face as in your 60’s you will need it! I do Botox & Restylane (a filler) as I have high cheekbones and under cheekbones nearing the middle to center is a fat loss place for me. It can be expensive but once a year isn’t too bad. I do Dysport instead of Botox……last longer and immediate results. My derm doctor is the most gentle doctor I have ever been to & she makes all of it so simple and easy. They do have numbing crème that is WONDERFUL! Buy Medical grade skincare……..mainly Retinol & Vitamin C and good moisturizers. I use Revision Skincare and love it. I use Retinol 1.0 – strongest strength and Vitamin C 30%. If you start around 40 you should be in good shape by 60. Good luck to you!

    1. Sorry I mis understood the question and thought you wanted us to answer them. ha! I need to not scan posts so much.

  9. Thanks for the Q & A! I love the women’s bible teachers you listed as well. I got the chance to go to a Fresh Gtound Faith Conference in the Fall and hear Jennifer Rothschild. Our women’s group is now doing her Psalm 23 studies which is amazing! If you have the opportunity, look her up! You will be encouraged and inspired. She also has a great weekly podcast 4:13!

  10. Thanks for the time you put into answering all the questions. I can’t imagine how overwhelming it would be to have so many questions coming at you and not the time in a busy life to answer them all. I love all the Christian authors/speakers you mentioned also.. I’m doing the Jonah bible study now by Pricilla Shirer. Its so good and we are only on Week 1. I find myself wanting to highlight everything she says. God is so good to give us the right bible study at the right time in our lives. I’ve many times felt whether I’m doing Beth Moore or Pricilla Shirer or whoever, that God hand picked the study for me at the perfect time. Ladies, you must be in bible study. Nothing like it. 🙂 Hope you get to feeling better. Blessings for your day. PS I loved watching your video and hearing your cute accent. I don’t have instagram, so miss out on those.

  11. Hi Cyndi! I feel like I know you as one of my sweet friends, wish we lived closer! Anyway….my question for you is, with all the cute booties and sneakers you wear, WHAT ARE THE BEST SOCKS, NO SHOWS, LINERS, ETC….?????????? The struggle is real, hahahaha!!!!!

    Thanks! <3

  12. A word about Botox – I’ve been using it for 14 years and it’s FABULOUS! So glad you’re facilitating that study. I just finished the book and it is wonderful and so full of Scripture! Thanks for all you do.

  13. Thanks for taking the time to do this and Yeah! that you may do it monthly! A follow-up question: what brush do you use with your brow powder?

  14. Cyndi, wishing you a speedy recovery. I missed you with my morning coffee, but loved the later post today! I needed the BFTH reminder. . . Have a great day!

  15. Thanks for sharing part of your life with us Cyndi. I honestly didn’t know how much work went into all this until I started following you and Jo-Lynne. I really appreciate all your fashion advice and life advice and REALLY appreciate the time it takes to get all this out to the masses. We love you and are all more stylish and spiritual because of you! 🙂
