Eye Makeup Tips – Women Over 40

Happy Friday ladies! Yesterday, I shared some of my eye makeup tips on Instastories. Let me just say, I am not an expert, but I do what works for me. I get asked a lot of questions about what I use, how I apply it, so I’m sharing it all!

Eye Makeup Tips - Women Over 40Here are the products I’m using right now. There are some new ones, but most are my tried and true favorites. (Click on the pictures to take you to where you can purchase the item.)

I mentioned on Instastories a few weeks ago that I would share a wrong way to do your eye makeup on one eye and the right way on the other eye. Several women had asked me when I was going to do it so last night I shared this video.

I think it’s an individual choice on how much eye makeup we use on our eyes. But I do feel as we age, we need to change some things. We shouldn’t wear our eye makeup the same way we did in high school.

One thing I didn’t say in the video is the importance of good skin care. Our makeup goes on better with good skin care.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and, Instagram.

Beauty For The Heart~~This morning when I was doing my devotion, a sentence stuck out to me. Our words reveal something about our character. -Karen McNary

Think back over the last 24 hours. Have your words been kind, have they encouraged other people? Or have your words been critical?

Words matter! What is in us is what is going to come out. The best way to change our words is to begin by filling our minds with God’s word.

Have a blessed day!

  1. LOL No, I don’t think you’ll keep one eye dark and go out to Bible study. LOL. YOU are beautiful but I agree, that’s just sorta not your look. I love the lighter eye make up. Have a great Valentine’s Day.

  2. I love your blog. Just two helpful suggestions: 1/ always remember to keep shoulders down and back, 2/ you look better with photos with your legs closer together. Thanks for all the help you give your followers. I started listening to Christian music because of you. God Bless, Anne

  3. Well I don’t like that sweater…just kidding, haha. I guess if you wear concealer to bed, you prob wouldn’t be willing show a no-makeup pic online to get a true before/after. I’d like to see it though so might as well ask. I’ve not yet found the right product for covering my super dark circles.

  4. I agree about changing your makeup after 40. I’ve been using Doll10 makeup and it’s amazing! You can purchase on Doll10.com or QVC. It’s really changed the way I do makeup. I’m not getting paid for endorsing. Just wanted to share with the over 40 ladies.

  5. I love your hair pulled back from your face on the tutorial. There aren’t many people who can wear bangs and then pull them back and still look good, but you definitely can pull off both looks!

  6. Love your BFTH today…..it couldn’t be more appropriate for a lot of people. Some should pause before they speak and keep most things they are thinking to themselves. As Christians we only have to answer to God and no one else.
Love the eye tatorials Cyndi🥰. Love your blog.

  7. Cindi, Could find the link to the beauty blogger that has tutorial on hooded eyes. Could you share the link? Thank you so much.

  8. Thank you for the beauty tips! I also loved your sweater. Thank you for sharing where you purchased it. I was wondering what the name of your devotional book is?

  9. Thanks for the beauty tips ! I have the same deep set eyes so your tips helped a lot to know what I am doing is good. I use the same technique for above the crease to make them look less deep set and use a lighter shade on the lid or just a light coat of primer plus a light taupe eye shadow or light beige color foundation. Most of the time, I like you don’t spend too much time on eye makeup, brows, eyeliner , curling eyelashes , mascara & a touch of eye shadow. I am using the “IT” brand concealer but am dying to try the Shape Tape. this tube has lasted forever! LOL!

  10. I love the products you’ve shown for eyes! Can you recommend an eyebrow pencil? Have grey bob hair style and could use ideas that work for greying brows as well.

  11. I LOVED your tutorial and tips I saw on Instagram yesterday ! Your comment that you weren’t 20 anymore and could not just put a flick of concealer under your eye and call it good. I agree. We women over 40 or 50 need so much more to combat the “wear and tear” of time. I am planning to get the Serum and the Tarte shape tape, thanks to you!

  12. Thank you for your tutorial, I have somewhat deep set eyes with a more prominent brow bone too, so I try to accentuate where I can without going overboard, but it can be confusing, especially with being 50 I don’t want to overuse eye makeup but I’m not wanting to go completely bare either.

Your hair looks beautiful, love the extensions, I would never know you had them if I hadn’t seen your blog right after you had them done. And, I love your accent too, it’s beautiful.

  13. Cyndi, you are so cute! Eyebrows are so important. I have fair skin, therefore very light brows. Brow powder is so much better than a pencil. I wear Merle Norman makeup, except my favorite mascara is Lancôme. I’m 58. I have stopped using liner on my bottom lashes and very little mascara. Makeup is fun! Thank you for all you do! I look forward to your blog every day, especially BFTH.

  14. Hey Cyndi! Thanks for the makeup tips – you always look beautiful. Did you share your filler experience? I have used botox in the past and am interested in hearing more about fillers. Thanks!

  15. Thank you so much for your help! And assistance. Your make tips sure are interesting and informative. I’m nervous about micro – blading. I’m 57, however your makeup tips help with me to understand. Amount, colors, etc. lol, I say leave the eye and have fun… 😉 Thank you again for your time.

  16. Great tips. Thank you for sharing. I think I’m at the stage of no more liner on bottom eye… Can you share where your pretty sweater is from? The one you’re wearing at the door.

  17. You’re adorable – did anyone notice the different eye makeup at Bible Study?? Haha! I don’t comment often, but I’ve been a subscriber for many years and I really appreciate your content. Be blessed, my Southern Sister!

  18. Thank you Cyndi for all your helpful hints. I to have changed up my eye routine as well. I also love Dominique Sacshe as well as Kate Bryan from the Small Things Blog. She does beauty and hair tutorials as well as fashion. She’s a little younger than we are but her take on makeup and hair would work for any age. Thanks again for all you do and for being so real!! ☺️☺️

    1. I also watch Dominique Sacshe & love her videos. She is so talented with her hair styling……..blows my mind how great her hair looks & how good she is with a dryer & round brush!

      1. I, too, watch Dominique and her Youtube videos…..she’s excellent! (But thank you Cindy for the tip on watching Angie@hotandflashy — will check her out). Your video was GREAT; fun and entertaining, and I love listening to your voice! Appreciate all of the info you give, your tips and tricks, and most of all, your heart for Jesus. Such a blessing!

  19. Thank you for this video! It’s so nice to see someone closer to my age showing how to do makeup.

    Love your blog/Instagram!!!

  20. I agree with everything you’ve said here and on the video. AND eyebrows make a huge difference – they’re like a frame for your eyes and pull everything together. As I’ve aged I’ve certainly changed my eye make up – actually all of it. And yes, it all starts with good skin, and skin care.

  21. Hi Cyndi! I just love your accent! Your voice is so calming. I have watched some of Angie’s tutorials and she is great. Another great beauty blogger is Dominique Sachse. I keep trying new eye shadow techniques..it’s fun to play! I think you mean that we should NOT wear our eye makeup the same as we did in high school! Happy weekend. Be blessed.
