What Lie Is Satan Whispering to You?

Happy Sunday ladies! We were gone for two Sundays on our vacation, and so today I’m glad to be heading back to church. I miss being in church when we are away.

There is something about gathering together with like-minded people and worshipping the one true God that makes everything in my world seem right.

And let’s be honest, the world is pretty messed up. It’s hard to even listen to the news anymore. They report on evil, and if I listen for too long, I can become anxious. What kind of world will my grandchildren grow up in?? It’s scary!

But I don’t go to church because of evil in the world; I go because I’m a sinner saved by grace and I need to be challenged to grow in my relationship with Christ. I also go because scripture says it’s important (Hebrews 10:25).

Wayne and I go to a Bible study (aka Sunday School) before we go to worship. Last night we were reading over the lesson, and it spoke to both of us. The lesson was written by Dr. David Jeremiah.

He begins by saying that Satan’s most effective strategies is to undermine our understanding of the love of God. He knows our confidence in God’s love tends to be fragile, dependent on whether we think our lives are going poorly or well–that God loves us when we please Him and withholds love when we fail.

Boy have I felt that way! When I have failed God, I often wonder does he still love me??

Satan wants to keep it that way because, as soon as we stumble or encounter painful obstacles, he needs only to whisper a negative thought here, a half-truth there and we find ourselves whittling the infinite love of God down to a poor substitute based on the assumption that the Lord of creation loves in the capricious way humans do. (Dr. David Jeremiah)

I don’t know about you, but I have allowed Satan to whisper in my ear.

I have been blogging for 10 years, and while I have been blessed beyond measure with an amazing job, the last 10 years have also been some of the most painful in my life.

God has given me a platform to share about fashion but more importantly to share about His amazing grace. Satan has tried to steal, kill, and destroy me. (The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. John 10:10)

Satan wants to win but what he needs to know is the battle has already been won!

Maybe today, you need to be reminded that the battle was won at the cross. It is finished!

What is Satan whispering in your ear today?

  • You’re not good enough
  • You have failed too many times.
  • Your marriage can’t be saved.
  • God can’t love you.
  • You’ll never trust again.

I don’t know what he’s whispering but stop listening to him and listen to what God says.

No matter what you have done……. No matter how far you have fallen……. No matter what you’ve heard the enemy whisper in your ear….. God’s love never quits. He loves you. He always has. He always will. (Dr. David Jeremiah)

Genesis 50:20a, You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. Yes!! Take that Satan!

I shared this song before, but I think it might be one of my very favorites. The lyrics are powerful. I’m not who I was before. I’m thankful for the scars. These wounds are a story you will use.

Waking up to a new sunrise
Looking back from the other side
I can see now with open eyes

Darkest water and deepest pain
I wouldn’t trade it for anything
‘Cause my brokenness brought me to You
And these wounds are a story You’ll use

So I’m thankful for the scars
‘Cause without them I wouldn’t know Your heart
And I know they’ll always tell of who You are
So forever I am thankful for the scars

Now I’m standing with confidence (yes!)
With the strength of Your faithfulness
And I’m not who I was before
No, I don’t have to fear anymore

So I’m thankful for the scars
‘Cause without them I wouldn’t know Your heart
And I know they’ll always tell of who You are
So forever I am thankful for the scars

Please know that I’m praying for you ladies!! Stay strong and lean into Jesus! If you have a prayer request leave it in the comments and we will pray for you.

  1. I’m clearing out old emails, and came across this today 1/1/2024, and would be so very grateful for your prayers. May the New Year be filled with joy for you Cyndi and your family.

    All the best to you
    Coco

  2. A very good post, thank you for continuing & not giving up. Satan is very very sneaky. We do all suffer from his attacks. Keeping our faith & hope in Him, clinging to Him ❤️

  3. My youngest daughters husband left her and my Young grandson. A shock to everyone. Please pray for her to be able to cope with this heartbreak and that our boy will grow up a strong man of God. Of course we pray for Gods will in this situation. God can work a miracle, heal this family and not let satan win.

  4. Good morning! A beautiful Sunday here in California. Grace is everywhere, I think. Such beauty in nature makes me humble and filled with gratitude that I am part of this world. Please pray for humans to be gentle and caring of all God’s creatures, and loving towards ourselves and each other. Much love to everyone!

  5. Thank you, Cyndi, for saying exactly what I needed to hear today. I’m so grateful for God’s love! Blessings to you and your family!

  6. Thank you Cyndi for your Love of God and sharing your faith and what you learn. I do have a prayer request. I have chronic migraines and nothing seems to work. I have a great team of a doctor, neurologist and naturopath and they all are doing all they know to do. I have something new coming up and I’m exhausted with trying new things and nothing working and just having the side affects. I really would love for God to heal me, but know I have to trust HIM. He knows what He’s doing in my life to make me complete in HIM. Its soooo hard though. I’ve been doing this for years and years. I have my first grandchild(girl) coming in Sept. and I just want to be well and feel good for her. Love your blog for fashion and most of all for your love for HIM.

    1. Thank you for today’s word . I needed that ! My husband and I to belong to a wonderful church . We go to Sunday school. My husband is chairman of the deacons. We belong to Calvary Baptist in Rome, Georgia. Being as grounded as we are the enemy still puts those thoughts of doubt in my mind and whispers those words , “ your not really saved , your never going to be good enough . I feel like I can’t hear Jesus Loves Me enough so Thank you again.
      Love,
      Cindy J

  7. Please pray for mercy for my husband. He is in so much pain from his cancer. I trust in the Lord and his path but this road has been 3 years long. He is fighting every step of the way and although I find this heroic I also think he doubts his faith in the Lord which is disallowing him to let God take over his life. The emotional pain this is having on our children is heart breaking. I know our family will be ok if we can weather this storm.
Thank you for taking the time to read my prayer. In Jesus name we pray. 🙏

  8. I have let Satan whisper and now struggle with depression and low self esteem. Please pray I can hear Gods voice.

    1. Praying for you!

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen Ephesians 3:16-21

  9. Thank you, Cyndi, for your sweet words of hope. I surely needed these today. And, that song-loved it! Need to hear it every day. I do have a prayer request. My daughter-in-law has a sister, whose young husband (just turned 30) has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. It has been so sad, but I know who holds them and is directing their paths. He began chemo this past Friday. Thank you for offering to prayer. They need a miracle!

  10. So beautiful..that song truly touched my heart. Thank you for this message this morning. God bless..

  11. I won’t bore you with details, but I went through something on Saturday, which left me thinking three out of the 5 items that ‘Satan whispers in one’s ear.’ It was exactly what I was thinking. Thank you for reminding us about God’s love.

  12. A year ago and after 26 years of marriage, my husband left me & our children. God is my provider and sustainer. I’m just really struggling with finding God’s will & plan for my life. Thank you for your prayers.

    1. same thing happened to me as soon as my youngest graduated from high school. I’m still not sure what I’m supposed to do so I just keep moving!

  13. Cyndi,
I enjoyed reading your true and inspirational words. Satan does tell us we are not good enough and tries to lead us astray. God loves us all the time! Thank you for your devotionals.
    Peggy

  14. Prayers that I can stay strong and keep fighting my physical and mental battle with breast cancer. It has brought me closer to God. I know he has me but extra prayers don’t hurt. Please, let’s pray for all those affected with disease and for the flooding in the Midwest. Amen!

  15. Thank you for your prayers, Cindy! Please pray that my father, who has dementia, is soon placed in the assisted-living facility he desperately needs. Also, healing prayers for my mother who was in a car accident. She is OK for the most part, but will require physical therapy sessions for the next 4 months. Finally, for my teenage daughter who is feeling lost and really needs to feel God’s touch. Thank you and God bless you!

  16. Satans favorite place to attack us is our minds. It’s our weakest place. If he can win the battle for our minds then we surely suffer defeat. Overcoming negative thoughts is a hard task but what a difference when we learn to look for the positives and blessings in every situation.

  17. I’m not quite sure how I found you. I think it was on Pinterest. You are an inspiration to me. I have a prayer request. I have been struggling with physical pain and emotional pain so much recently. I y’all to God throughout the day every day. I listen and I know he will never leave me, but somehow I still find myself becoming so overwhelmed and scared. I love God, my husband, and my family so much. There is so much going on around us all right now and it feels so heavy. I really don’t know what to pray about because there are so many issues we are facing. So many life changing issues both physically and financially. Both being very serious and big. I know God is greater than any of our problems, but being human makes it hard to stay focused. Thank you for your inspiration on scripture and health as that is also one of my focuses for myself.

  18. Thank you for this…it spoke to my heart in so many ways. I love your blog and the fashion your share! May God continue to bless you in every way!

  19. Thank you for this message Cyndi, and for continuing to share the love of Christ along with beauty & fashion. You are a blessing!

  20. Hi Cyndi!
Thank you for offering to pray for us. Everyone in my closest, dearest circle is suffering enormous and varied burdens. My request is how to weep with those who weep and come alongside bearing with them without allowing these burdens to effect my ministry to my own family. The suffering is not directly ours, for which I am grateful, but the enormity of what these dear ones are suffering is weighing heavily on my heart. God’s goodness and faithfulness are ever before me, and I know He is the true burden bearer. Your timing is amazing….. I could not ask my dear friends to pray for me in how to bear their burdens. Blessings to you!

  21. Sorry for the bad parts of the job. Keep going. I thoroughly enjoy your blog. It’s nice to have a fashion blog that is faith based.

  22. Thank you for your words of encouragement and sharing that wonderful song. I passed your email on to friends.

  23. Thank you for reminding us that through Jesus we do have power over satans lies! Please pray for 2 friends-Pam needs healing in her foot and Wanda needs healing from breast cancer!

  24. Beautiful message Cyndi. So glad y’all had such a fun cruise. Would love to see you and Courtney soon.

  25. So wonderful. What a blessing. Thanks for sharing. I do have a prayer request. I have chronic migraines…. at least 20 a month. So hard to live like this. I know God is with me and I wouldn’t be able to handle it without Him. I just want to be able to live again and go on vacation. My mom has dementia and just fell and broke her nose at 80 yrs old. Just need prayer for migraine free days to help her. She lives in assisted living but I have to take her to all doctor apt etc. thanks Cyndi.

  26. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I’ve heard verse John 10:10 twice today when I had heard it in years. Thank you for this Cyndi, I needed it today…and everyday.

  27. It’s so awesome that we can lift each other up as the daughters of Christ! Thank you for your encouragement!!

  28. Cyndi, thank you for these words of encouragement, I too worry about the world our grandchildren will have to live in. I’m praying for you now.

  29. Can you share the name of the David Jeremiah study? I’m looking for what to do for our next group study, and this sounds like something I really need to hear!

  30. Thank You Cyndi. I started following you for your fashion sense. But I believe God brought me to you to help
Find my way back. I had fallen away and am finding my way back to God. Please pray for me on my journey that my faith will grow.
    Thank you!

  31. Thank you for your words of comfort today. You have ministered to me many times through your blog. Please pray for me as I have had dizziness and unbalance for going on 7 years, and I can get very discouraged as nothing the doctors have tried has helped. I will pray for you and all of the wonderful
ladies who are here. Thank you for all you do to help us in so many ways.

  32. I am thankful for the Scars each and every day. It is a reminder that there is someone who loved me so much no matter how many times I fall.
Cyndi thanks for sharing with all of us. Have Blessed week.

  33. I have 3 radiation treatments left. Please pray for a clear Pet scan on April 29 and I hear the words “no cancer!”. Only by the grace of God have I survived since last June!

  34. Thank you, Cyndi, for your words of wisdom and encouragement. My only child, my adult son, is estranged from us right now because of a lifestyle he has chosen to live. My heart is broken, but I refuse to fall prey to Satan’s lies that my prodigal son is lost forever. Your prayers for us mean a lot. Thank you for your heart.

  35. Pray for me and my sisters as we care for our elderly parents. Satan whispers lies to me every day. Thank you Lord for your love and blessings

  36. Thank you Cyndi for leading us to Jesus! Praise God for your tenderness toward Him and your heart to worship the one true God! You are an inspiration. Your fashion advice and help for us “older gals” is so needed and I know I need it! I was feeling a bit lost in the world of fashion. Wanting to be “trendy” but not over doing it( which I’ve been in trouble for in the past) LOL! You really help me to tailor my look and it helps that you are so good at modeling such cute stuff! I love to tell about my Jesus and I’m so glad you do too! May God bless your year with FAVOR! With so much love in Jesus our King <3

  37. Thank you for your encouraging words and your wonderful ministry. I look forward to your blog everyday.
Please pray for my marriage as my husband and I are going through a very difficult time.

  38. Cyndi, I can’t thank God enough for using you to minister to me. Satan has been using our daughter for years to whisper discouraging words to us, her parents. She was raised in a christian home accepted Christ at an early age. But when she went to college she fell away from God. She is 28 now with two children of her own. She is still away from God. Satan has torn our relationship apart, I am asking prayer for our daughter to realize she needs God in her life and for her children. There is nothing stronger than our God. I know he has a plan. Blessing to you!

  39. Cyndi- I look forward to hearing from you every day but especially Sundays when you share just what is on your heart through Jesus! I am so grateful for your ministry! The message at church this morning was on Philippians 4:6-7- Do not be anxious…. and this song just ministered more to my heart! Beautiful! Thank you for prayers and know that you are in our prayers, too! We live in a broken world that needs Jesus! Blessings!

  40. have you heard the Jeff Baumgardner song written after their Ellie went home to the Lord after sufferning brain bleed at age nine. ??

  41. Cyndi, one thing I know is that when you say you pray for us, you mean it! Thank you for that. I, in turn, pray for you and the ministry God has given you. It is a big responsibility—being a witness and a light out into the far reaches of the internet! I pray God’s blessing as you continue to bloom where God has planted you!

  42. We had a hard time starting our family. God finally (after being married 11 years) gave us a precious daughter and 3 years later another little girl. They were both miracles and Satan has used them to battle with me. Our oldest daughter he has especially attacked. She is 37 and is still living out in the wilderness. It is hard sometimes, but I placed her in God’s hands many years ago and I know that He is the one taking care of her. I know that God will do what is right and He will continue to give me the strength to battle Satan. Thank you, Cindi, for your continued witness to so many! God Bless you!!

  43. What a beautiful devotion. Let’s all think positive thoughts and pray for our country, President and our Congress. So many evil thoughts and words on both sides . God IS in control. We just have to stand united and let him do his work. I also pray for all of you commenters with health and financial issues. May God bring you peace.

  44. Thank you for following the Lord’s call in your life to share His love on your blog even when the enemy wanted to beat you down. You are an encouragement to so many. May the Lord always be glorified and may you be blessed!

  45. What a thought provoking Sunday sentiment. I would be grateful for your prayers for my family. Satan has wiggled his way into my family and I truly do not see any way of it ever being repaired with my sisters. Thank you and enjoy this beautiful day!

  46. Amen sister! What a beautiful post! Thank you for being obedient and sharing Christ’s love & truth! Have a blessed week Cyndi 😘

  47. Please pray for my family. My husband has lung cancer and I am sitting in the hospital with my daughter who has a severe infection.

  48. Cyndi – Thanks for being a faithful servant of Christ who happens to be a great blogger too! Truly needed these words of wisdom today as well. Blessings to you and family.

  49. Cyndi – Thanks for being a faithful servant of Christ who happens to be a great blogger too! Truly needed these words of wisdom today as well. Blessings to you and family.

    1. Amen and Amen! Thank you for using your platform to share Christ with others! I love all the fashion and beauty tips but when it comes down to it we are put here on earth to share the plan of salvation and the love of God!! Keep up the good work! 🙏🏻💕

  50. What a blessing you are!!! So needed to hear this message. Yes it’s is so easy to listen to the enemy at vulnerable times. We (I) have to stay in the word and be reminded that God can love no less and more. He is the same yesterday and today. Thank you for the sweet truth!! Be blessed!

  51. I ordered Dr. Jeremiah’s daily devotional to start 2019. I’m so glad I did:) it seems like each day the devotional is just what I needed. Thank you for being bold in sharing your faith.

  52. I always look forward to your Sunday posts. Thank you for this wonderful reminder. I struggle with self-harm and usually think it doesn’t matter because I don’t matter. I’m trying to learn to accept God’s truth about me, but it isn’t easy. I’ve believed those lies for so long.

  53. I love your messages. They give me strength. My husband is going in for heart procedure tomorrow. We would appreciate your prayers. (His name is Wayne)

  54. Great truth today & always a good reminder. Satan loves to try to get us on shaky ground in regards to our faith in God. I’m always grateful when God sends a reminder in the written word or spoken from a friend to spur us back into step.

Thanks for your word today. I am loved.

  55. Thank you for this reminder of the lies the evil one bombards us with each day. We must stay focused on the one true Light and dwell on God’s Infinite love for us.

Please pray for my husband. He has been unemployed for over a year. It is so hard for a man in his fifties to be in this position. He has so much experience but that doesn’t seem to matter in the corporate world…when you are older. Pray that we stay strong. It’s very difficult.

    Thank you.

  56. I often read or watch Dr. David Jeremiah. This morning I was thinking about reading a devotional from his many books and I see this on your post! Funny how God directs our hearts to what we need to see or read if we just listen. Thank you for the busy work it takes to share. You just never know who is touched.

  57. It’s amazing to me how you know what to say and when to say it. I look forward to receiving your emails just to see what wisdom you have for me each day. I recently found your blog and it has been a God send! I have been struggling with my faith in God, and really needed to hear this. We are going through a financial struggle right now and it doesn’t seem that there is a light at the end of the tunnel yet. Please pray that we will be able to see God’s plan for our lives. Thank you so much, and have a great day!

  58. Cyndi, thank you for such sound and encouraging truth this morning. We have to know the statagedy of our enemy and the only way to really know that is to know the One who created, loves and protects us. I’m so thankful for Jesus and God’s word, it’s my foundation each day. Thank you for offering to pray. Please pray for a wayward adult son to fully give his heart back to Jesus. I often pray for you and your family too. Enjoy today with your church family and then your sweet family! Welcome Home!

  59. I heard this song while driving home from work Friday…thank you for sharing it here, Cyndi
Happy Sunday, enjoy your precious family ❤️

  60. I have been sick for 2 years. First, I had breast cancer and then back surgery that left me in debilitating pain for 6 months.
I haven’t been able to leave the house.
This last week, I have been pain free.
Please pray for me that I will have the strength to go on and that God will keep this pain away from me.
    Thank you so much.

  61. Thank you, Cyndi!

Thank you for sharing so boldly! I needed that Word from the Lord this morning! Such a great reminder that we do not fight against flesh and blood! We have an enemy that wants to steal from us!

I serve Jesus, who is Bigger and I too am thankful for the scars, a reminder of how far I have progressed in my walk with the Lord.

  62. This blog was sent directly to me this morning! I just finished praying when I picked up my phone to read your blog. God is amazing and definitely sent His message through you today!! I have an unspoken medical-related prayer request. Thank you for being God’s voice!
