The Midi Dress Trend for Summer

This post is created in collaboration with Nordstrom and ShopStyle. Thank you for supporting Cyndi Spivey sponsors.

I’m sharing a little outfit inspiration today from Nordstrom with the midi dress. Have you tried this trend yet? I know many of you don’t like dresses that are too short, so this is a great option. The best part is they’re trending for spring and summer!

The term “midi” applies to any length from two inches below the knees to a few inches above the ankles. The easiest lengths for most women are just above the swell of the calf (a couple of inches below the knees) or just below the calves.

You never want your hemline to hit at the widest part of your calf because that is the most unflattering length. So make sure you get the right length or have it hemmed to the appropriate length.

Nordstrom has a wide selection of midi dresses, and today I’m styling this polka dot tie waist midi dress. This dress is BP brand, an exclusive brand at Nordstrom and the best part is, the dress is under $50.

Beauty for the Heart~~“I don’t’ have to figure everything out. I just need to stay close to Jesus. I can run my emotions ragged trying to make sense of things that aren’t ever going to make sense…or I can ask Jesus to show me how to move forward in some small way today.

Make something beautiful today. Make good from the hard stuff today. Make a true investment in loving someone today. Make it evident I’ve spent some time with Jesus.” -Lysa TerKeurst

Ladies, the best investment we can make today is to spend some time with Jesus!

I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless. John 15:5 (TPT)

  1. Hey y’all! Just wanted you to know that I follow you as much for the BFTH as I do the fashion. I was just able to share that portion from Lysa with a young woman who has just found out about her husband’s infidelity. What a blessing!

  2. Just reading this at 7:30p.m. Wish I had read your BFTH this morning as I think I would have done better with my day. I had a very hard day today at my mom’s assisted living with her increased dementia and multiple phone apts. back and forth with nurses/doctors and taking her out for blood labs and assisted living calling me back to calm her down etc. I just feel I was on edge and could have been calmer with your reminder. Thanks. Love the midi dress on you.

  3. I would like to see a side by aide of the right length and the wrong length, I can’t visualize what you are describing.

  4. What a cute dress. Looks sweet on you. It would be nice with a wedge and denim jacket too. Great length with no worries. Happy weekend.

  5. Now, that dress looks fabulous on you! I would even wear a red, strappy heel with it, as a pop of colour would bring that dress up a notch!!

  6. So cute! I think I had this dress in the late 80’s – 90’s. 😂 Oh how I wish I’d saved those fashions.

    1. I agree! Just have a girlfriend’s thrifting day, as you will find those style dresses at Goodwill, made with quality fabric. I just purchased one almost identical to Cyndi’s for 6.00$ here in Canada, probably will cost 2.50US. Lol. It looks brand new.
