Happy Tuesday, ladies! Today I’m excited to teaming up with Amy from the Straight A Style blog to share the paperbag shorts trend. Amy has impeccable style, and she is absolutely beautiful inside and out, so make sure you check her out HERE.

Amy and I also styled another trend this summer, which is the plastic handbags. I think this is a fun trend to add to your outfits. The one I’m carrying is already sold out, but it’s also offered in a brown color.
Paperbag shorts are usually gathered at some area and with a fabric coming out the top, above the clinched area. Most often there is a tied belt or ribbon around the waist, and there is either a slightly or completely flared hem. It looks like a paper bag which is where it got its name – ruffled at the top, flared at the bottom.
They emphasize the waist and can make you look taller. The right way to style these trendy bottoms is with fitted tops. I styled my shorts with a pretty lace yoke blouse from Nordstrom.

I have styled several pair so far this year, I styled a navy blue pair with a floral tank.
Floral Camisole (I’m wearing a small)//Paperbag Highwaist Shorts (I’m wearing a small)//Madewell Sandals (TTS)//Necklace//Earrings//White Clutch
I also styled a black pair with a pink puff shoulder tee.
Puff Shoulder Tee (I’m wearing an XS)// Ivy Paperbag Tie Waist Shorts (I’m wearing a small)//Tory Burch Sandals (less expensive option here)//Earrings//Necklace//Clutch//Bracelet
Have you tried the paperbag short trend yet?
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on Facebook, Pinterest, and, Instagram.
Beauty for the Heart~~Some words are mentioned quite a few times in scripture, and when they are, I think there’s a reason. Abide is mentioned over one hundred times.
Christ is reminding us to abide. Abide in Him, in His word, and in His grace. It takes discipline to slow down and remain in God’s word, but without it, we can’t live victoriously.
Here are some scriptures that remind us to abide in Christ.
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:7
Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 1:9
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. John 15:4
Let’s be intentional today and abide in Him.
Have a blessed day!

Someone mentioned FWTFL. Could someone explain please?
So cute on you!!!
I am all for new trends, but this is one I will Definitely not be joining. Anything that ties with a bow just draws attention to the stomach area. I am petite so I feel like it would make me look boxy.
Sorry…. not for me or most women, especially at our age. LOL. They make most of us look wider than tall……. and you must be super super thin and young to wear them appropriately! Unflattering trend.
I love the paper bag shorts and the linen
blend paper bag crop pants too. You look incredible. My favorite item today is the purse. I love the wooden handle bamboo look. Any small purse with those handles scream summer to me. Thanks for helping all of us.🤗
I ordered a pair, tried them on, sent them back! They make me look wider than I am tall. Like I’m wearing a paper bag!
I will definitely try them again as I love the look. Not sure if it was just the ones I tried or the whole paper bag look that doesn’t work for me. I’m thinking you need to be tiny with thinner legs to rock this look.
You look fabulous in them.
BFTH today is spot on what I needed – THANK YOU!
As for the shorts – I’ll try them on and see 🙂 – being short waisted they may not be a good look, but I’m all for trying. I like the look of these today – they’re very cute, and the top you picked is perfect with these. A year ago I would have never tucked in my shirt – but thanks to you introducing me to FWTFL I’ve lost over 25 lbs and I have a waist again – YES! – and a flat tummy again – YES!
Thank you for all you bring to us – to lift us spiritually, physically, and fashionably – LOVE YOU!!
Love the looks
You’ve styled this look very well, and paperbag shorts seem to really help whittle the waist. I doubt that I will venture into them though, because they would make a short-waisted figure appear even more so. I feel like I’d have to wear a super high turtleneck with them to balance me out–not happening in summer (ha-ha)! Your readership represents a myriad of body types, so I’m sure many others will be able to emulate this look. Thank you for featuring so many different styles!
I happen to be going to Target today so I will have to try on these shorts. They look great on you but I’ve never been one to tuck a top in with shorts and these you definitely need a more fitted top that can be tucked in. I do like that they seem to be a little longer. I am petite and struggle finding shorts every summer. They are normally too wide in the leg so I usually just wear skorts and summer dresses but maybe I’ll have some luck this year. Thank for sharing and enjoy your day.
P.s. My Steve Madden wedges came in over the weekend and I wore them yesterday and loved them. I got the tan and black since they were still running the BOBO. I will wear these all summer long for casual and to work. 😃
Aren’t those the most comfortable sandals?? I love mine!!
Very pretty look! I really think it’s not the size but style of an individual!
You look so beautiful in these shorts! Love the dark blue ones best. I don’t think everyone can pull this off though. It’s not about age, I think it’s about body type. That being said, that’s true of everything, lol I especially love the white top you’re wearing. I think I’ll pass on the clear plastic purse though. It’s hard not to see them as a cluttery mess. And not everyone needs to know what’s in my purse 😉 I loved the beauty for the heart….so many times it touches my heart, like today. You’re one of my fav bloggers & I look forward to seeing more summer outfits! Enjoy those grandbabies!
Even though the shorts look good on you, I’m Not crazy about the paper bag waist. I think the paper bag waist trend is too trendy for anyone older than 40. And it is a tough look to pull off if you are not model slim and on the taller side. For anyone who carries any weight around their middle, it would be a terrible look, more of a potato sack than paper bag.
I agree.. Not for those on the busty side either. Super unflattering.
I agree with the body type comments. I could wear them since Even though I am fit, I still have a thicker middle. Love the look though – pure 90s commin’ back (I did pull this look off back then!)
