How Do We Keep Going When Life Is Hard?

Happy Sunday! It’s a beautiful day here in Kentucky, and I feel like we are now in full summer mode. We went to a friend’s house last night and sat outside, soaking up the gorgeous evening weather. Summer makes me happy!

This past week, I was talking with someone who had been through a difficult season in their life. They’re struggling to find any good in their circumstances. They believe in God, they know He’s there, but they don’t see Him working in their life.

I think we can all relate at some point. How can God bring good out of a bad situation? How do we keep going when life is hard? My Mom taught me when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, to look for blessings, because they are all around us, even in our darkest moments.

This video of a young couple shows how looking for God’s blessings can change your perspective. It was such an encouragement; I wanted to share it with you. One of the things said in the video stuck with me, “Lifes lowest moments can be our greatest blessings.”

“no matter how broken you are, no matter how lost, keep going…”

You can read their entire story in the book, The Seven Longest Yards.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and, Instagram.

Have a blessed day!

  2. Thanks! very inspirational – when my husband passed away at the age of 51 I kept telling myself God has a reason for taking him I don’t know why but God does. My faith and staying strong for my two daughters was how I got through some of the hardest days of my life.

  3. Thank you so much for sharing this Cyndi. Your blog always brings me back to where I need to be. Focusing on God and not my supposed problems.

  4. Thank you for that video! I have a friend that needs to hear this and I’m sure others also. You are truly a blessing!

  5. Thank you for sharing this video. It’s a good reminder to me that even though my family is going through some trauma right now we are going to eventually be okay. I always say that if we all put our problems in a bucket and have to pull out someone else’s problem, we would want our own problem back. Blessings to you.

  6. Good message in this video! I live in Iowa and grew up in the town where this incredible man was injured. This story has been on pur local news recently. It was good to see this as I’ve been down about little things lately. And I havent been committed to worship like I need to be. This was a great reminder to refocus with God in the center of my life and not stress about the little things!

  7. Thank you Cyndi for sharing that video. My trial doesn’t seem quite so big now. I am so blessed by what God has done in this young couples life and the way He’s using them to bless others….especially those cute little kids.

  8. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story and I and going to share it with my 22 yr old daughter and her boyfriend as well.

  9. Happy Sunday Cindi, thank you for that very uplifting video. My husband and I can attest to God’s goodness in the midst of pain. We have been given an opportunity to share our faith in a completely elevated platform because of my husband’s battle with ALS. We have received blessings to numerous to count and have had the joy of being completely lifted in prayer by our church and community. All things we wouldn’t have experienced without walking through the shadow of death. God doesn’t waste any hurt or heartache or tears. He uses everything for the glory of His Kingdom. Sending Hugs.

  10. Wow..what a powerful message. The strength, love, faith and encouragement shown by this young couple that God is using. So inspiring how they took what was a low moment in their lives and made it into something beyond beautiful:)I’ll be looking for this book in July. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Interesting that our current series and message last night was on difficulty and how we tend to focus internally, when often if we focus externally, help others, and focus on God our circumstances, while those may not change, how we deal does.
Thank you as always for your thoughts, one of the main reasons I follow you.

  12. Your post today is quite fitting!! During church, we focused on Peter – Chapter 1, and I feel that after reading today’s post – there is a connection! Have a great day :)!

  15. So wonderful and fulfilling to read this post, Cyndi. What an inspiring, encouraging message. We have all been vulnerable to sin, to mountains of sorrow, to life’s trials. But I know a God who is a miracle worker and a parent when Life becomes big. I lean on Him and call His name. He hears me each time. Praise be to God for his strength, joy, and restoration. What a blessing you are, Cyndi. Thank you for helping me to remember.
