Happy Wednesday, friends! Well, yesterday we had a lot of interesting discussion on picking the right shoe, but I did get some good questions so I thought we would address them today.
First, I think it’s important to know when it comes to fashion there aren’t any rules. You can dress how you choose and how you feel comfortable. I also have said this before, but I never say never when it comes to fashion. Fashion is fun and should be an extension of your personality.
I have found some things that work best for me since I’ve been in this fashion business for several years. I prefer a nude or some shade of tan shoe 75% of the time. A younger fashion blogger will wear a skirt with black booties, and they can rock that look, but I don’t feel like it’s my best look.
I recently styled this dress, and while I think the black heel works, I think it gives you a look at how nude shoes elongate. You’re drawn to the floral dress in the first picture but not as much in the second one.

Of course, I will wear a black heel. This dress was on the shorter side, so I didn’t want to elongate my legs too much.

It would have been easy to put black shoes with this dress, but I felt a light shoe looked better.

These pictures are older so I don’t have outfit links because they’re sold out. Several of you asked about black tights and would I wear black heels with black tights? Absolutely! I also love black booties with black pants and jeans.
Here’s another look at a different color bootie. While I think the red bootie works, it does stand out, and I think a black bootie would have made the outfit flow better. But sometimes it’s fun to step out of the box.
Of course, it’s safe to say I’ll choose animal print any day!

Beauty For the Heart~~There has been so much already said about this day. I don’t think any of us will forget where we were on September 11th, 2001 and I am praying for the families today that lost loved ones on Sept. 11th.
I read where someone said they never want another 9/11, but they miss 9/12. Stores ran out of flags to sell because everyone wanted a flag. People were Americans before they were Democrat or Republican. We hugged people without caring if they ate at Chick-Fil-A or wore Nikes.
We need to practice Mark 12:30-31 more than ever, “And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

Love this! I think also that the style of the shoe makes a big difference too along with color. I see your point in all these. One thing I would like to know. When doing an all black dress like for an event like one of your pics that is dressy….do you do full fledged opaque tights or a sheerer version depending on the dressier pump type of shoe.? I love camo but concerned if it is age appropriate for me. I’m 5’3”, weigh 138 pounds and I am 68. I wear size 8-10 petites. I think camo is fun but don’t want to appear to be trying to look to young. I’d appreciate your thoughts.

Hi Cyndi…Love your blog! Can you recommend someone we “narrow” width gals can find shoes that are reasonably priced? I can’t afford $200 for a pair of shoes and the only styles I find all look old and dated. I’d like something fashionable. I live in the area of a major city, but Nordstroms is usually too expensive…IF they have a narrow width. Thank you!

I also have narrow feet. I have found several shoe styles similar to the ones Cyndi currently models at Naturalizer.com and they are available in narrow width. They fit well and have lasted all season. They also offer sales often if you subscribe to their email. Hope this helps.

Super 2 day shoe post! Glad I didn’t fail with my black tights a few years back. Our daughter got married in a river bottom forest setting in Nov ’16. It was a bit chilly but I was comfy in a look very similar to your black dress, black tights and heels, but I wore booties. Super super BFTH!! We fly our flag year round at home and I was pleased to see at work our 3 flags, USA, Calif & company were all at half-staff today. Thank you for sharing these easy fashion comparisons. Great 2 day post. Lately I’ve noticed I am gravitating more toward lighter neutral tone footwear as opposed to black. It’s a mind shift and has taken me out of habit and former comfort zone. It’s good to update our look.

This morning I said a memorial prayer and fully intended to put out our flag. I got sidetracked and didn’t get to it. When you mentioned “flags” I nearly catapulted out of my seat. Love the shoe post & especially your Beauty for the heart today. I would only add that I’m additionally praying for our military families as well. That day changed our lives as well with the resulting deployments to the middle east & the many lives lost in Iraq & Afghanistan. The ripple effect is still felt in our lives.
