Adding Layers To Your Outfit

Happy Tuesday, ladies! This time of year, the weather can be unpredictable, but there’s definitely a chill in the air in our area. I love to add layers to my outfit, and Nordstrom has plenty of cardigans, vests, scarves, and coats.

When I’m adding layers, I like to start with a basic, lightweight top. I suggest a solid, something neutral, or striped. This year sleeveless turtlenecks have been my go-to piece. They’re perfect for fall!

I also wear more black jeans during the fall and winter. I’m wearing a pair of Kut from the Kloth high waisted jeans.

Typically the mornings start out pretty chilly, so I like to add a cardigan or jacket to my outfit. Buffalo check is always a great option, and this shirt/coat makes me want to grab a cup of hot cider and start carving my pumpkin for Halloween!

Leopard mules are neutral, so they go with everything, including buffalo check.

This shirt is super soft and long enough to wear with leggings.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart~~I’ve been thinking a lot about the word THROUGH lately. The definition is moving in one side and out of the other side. The take away from that definition is moving out to the other side.

God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites, and they went THROUGH on dry ground (Exodus 14:21-22). This gives us great hope. The difficult season you are in right now will not last forever. You will get to the other side. You will go THROUGH it!

Have a blessed day!

  1. Thank you so much for posting this shirt jacket. I ordered it last week and it arrived today. I really like it and never would have found it without your recommendation. I always enjoy your posts. Thanks again.

  2. I see you’re coming to the great state of Georgia soon! Where? I’d love to come see you if you’re speaking in my area.

  3. Hi Cyndi,
I am a new subscriber and I was wondering, if there is any chance we can talk boots? With boot season being here and the many choices there are to choose from, shopping for a new pair (or two) can be overwhelming. You wear boots quite a bit in winter, so I was wondering if you could do a segment on selecting the right boot to accompany your wardrobe?
    Just an idea😊

  4. I LOVE this post! I wore a similar outfit this past weekend as we traveled to a sweet little cabin to stay in a cute log cabin. Of course I wore hiking boots instead of those cute leopard mules! I added a black puffer vest, hat, & gloves for chilly morning walks. Love layers!

Beauty for the Heart was a blessing. My family has had quite a year losing both my sweet Mama & Mother-in-law just 21 days apart. I also retired from my 35 years as a 1st grade teacher! So much upheaval to work & pray “through”!

I kept telling myself all of this emotional struggle is a place I’m visiting….but I certainly don’t plan to live here! The Lord has quieted our lives some this fall & we are so grateful!

Thanks for your ministry! Love your blog!! 💕

  5. I’ve followed you on Pinterest for a year or so and put together fashions to imitate your look. I’ve gotten lots of compliments. Recently I decided to follow your daily and I’m so glad I did. I’ve always been more interested in decorating my home vs decorating myself. Your links make it easy…almost too easy. I’ve ordered several things to upgrade my wardrobe for this coming fall and winter. I live in Georgia, so Fall weather lasts here with very mild winters. Looking forward to the cooling weather and thank you for sharing and being a wonderful inspiration for our outer selves as well as our inner selves.

  6. BFTH is just what I needed today! The Lord is working through you! My husband is one week out and recovering from diverticulitis surgery. Watching him in so much pain is wearing on me. I am hiring A visiting nurse today. We will get through!

  7. I would have never thought you could put an animal print shoe with a Buffalo check shirt, but it sure works for you. Thanks! So cute!

  8. CYNDI Thanks for the message today. We just had a remodel done in our bathroom took a shower this morning and it looks like a river in my basement. HA but we will get Through it. Love the buffalo cheek shirt looks great on you. Have a blessed day.

  9. Love this outfit! I can’t really wear sleeveless tops, though, because I’m liable to have to shed the outer layer (I tend to run warm).

Am I the only one who seems to have trouble with your links? The jacket link leads to the shoes, and the jeans link leads to the top.

  10. Love buffalo plaid as well. Never would have thought to wear leopard print shoes with the jacket but will now. Anxious to hear your announcement.
    BFTH was right on today.

  11. I love that buffalo check shirt! Are scarves still trendy? I don’t see you style them often, but I’d love to see any tips you have. 🙂

  12. Yes! I have always said, we r passing through this, not setting up camp!!! It’s our choice to get what He is teaching us and MOVE on to the next chapter!!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌better, stronger, with more wisdom to pass on to the ones coming behind us!!!

  13. Are you a Chick- Fil-A executive? 😀. Love this outfit that jacket is great. You’ve peeked my curiosity for your announcement lol..
    Blessings
    Karen

  14. Good morning, I am curious to where you will be traveling and speaking in Georgia. I’m a Peach State Girl.

Thank you for the time you put into your blogs. I enjoy following you. I’m a little older than you, but still find the clothing relevant to my age.

    Thanks again,
    Sandra

    1. Hi Sandra! This event in Georgia is specifically for Chick-fil-a executives. They are holding a private event.

Thanks so much for following along!
      Cyndi

    2. Thank you for your encouraging words and scripture. Here in California things are a little frightening with fires and power outages.
