Two Affordable Holiday Dresses

Happy Tuesday, ladies! One of my favorite things about this time of year is dressing up and adding some bling to my outfits. It’s a fun time of year for fashion.

Today I’m sharing two affordable holiday dresses from JCPenney. They’re both on sale and under $60. They also run big so size down.

I always get asked about wearing pantyhose with dresses this time of year. I prefer not to wear pantyhose. I put on my favorite self-tanner, and I’m good to go.

I’m not sure if black tights would look good with this dress, but I definitely think you could add them to the Plaid Fit and Flare Dress below.

I added earrings from Evereve and a Rebecca Minkoff black clutch.

This hi-lo hem adds a pretty feature to the dress.

Floral Hi-Lo Fit & Flare Dress (I’m wearing a size 4, it runs big so size down)//Earrings//Black Heels (I sized up 1/2 size)//Bracelet//Black clutch

This dress has a gorgeous plaid skirt, black bow belt, and cuffed sleeves. I think you could easily wear black tights with this dress.

This is so feminine and festive. I might wear this dress to our Christmas Eve service.

More than likely, it will be cold, so this furry jacket is perfect to wear with your holiday dresses.

  1. Cyndi,

The dresses are beautiful, but the BFTH was exactly what I needed today.
I have been so stressed about many unknowns in my life right now and I needed this reminder to slow down and let God be in control. I know He has a plan and it’s better than I can ever imagine.

  2. I agree with Karen:
Both dresses are gorgeous on you! Everyone is so casual here that I would look like a fish out of water!😂
Also, its so darn cold that would need black tights to keep the frostbite at bay. Thanks for sharing the dresses from JCP. Nice, reasonably priced options.

  3. Hi Cyndi….I love both of the dresses. My favorite is the green plaid but the red plaid would work too. You look so Pretty in both of them. My favorite boot is the Marc Fisher. Love your blog! Have a Blessed Day.

  4. I love both of these dresses. JC Penney is my go to for dresses. They have the best in store selection anywhere especially, for the price.

I have that sunless tanning lotion in my cart at Amazon. I’m just about ready to hit the order button. Lol

  5. I love the green plaid dress!!! It really looks like you! And I don’t mind the neighborhood pictures. It just looks Ike you are going to a fancy Southern Christmas party at a friend’s house. 😊

  6. So pretty! I love them both and of course they look great on you. Also, I like the Sorel boots in your email better for you…they just look more like you to me 🙂

    1. I love both dresses! The fit & flare is A style that fits all body types. I love the plaid one! So cute! And, that little jacket is perfect to run from car to buildings and look put together. I like pantyhose this time of year. Bare legs are more a summer thing for me, plus it feels casual. Good advice on matching skin tone and making sure there is no shimmer.

  7. I think the red dress looks best on you. It usually is too cold on Christmas Eve in Colorado to wear a dress that would expose legs soI am usually dressed in pants and boots butIlive both of these looks.
The Sorrel boots are much cuter and more feminine looking.

  8. Both dresses are very pretty, but I think I favor the green plaid best. By way, where did you shoot your photos? While the house in the background is beautiful (yours?), it seemed an odd location to showcase fancy Christmas dresses…would have picked a glittery, city backdrop.

    1. The house in the background is our neighbors. Yes, in a perfect world I would have picked that too! I had to get these taken before dark so we took them close to our house. Sorry!

      1. Im so sorry you have to get critical remarks from people like that. You are such a precious person. Roll on as they say and dont look back. ❤️

      1. I have a feeling Cyndi can hold her own. I understand the glittery, snowy background for Christmas, rather than the country background, but those dresses are just stunning and you model them well Cyndi! Just gorgeous and great price point too.

  9. Thank you for this post. I don’t like to wear black near my face, but I was able to locate a green jacquard dress from JCPenney by linking to these dresses. Regarding hose; a few years ago I attended a blustery February wedding. The salesperson at Nordstrom directed me to very silky nude hose with shimmer. They worked perfectly!

  10. These are both beautiful dresses! Do you have any tips for how to keep your feet from getting blisters when wearing shoes without hose or tights? I can’t wait for Thursday to see your new line!

  11. I like both of these dresses! So cute and festive. My problem is that, while I don’t like pantyhose or tights, I get so cold with bare legs, so I usually opt for pants or trousers. You have been showing such cute options for the holidays! Thanks a lot!

  12. You look beautiful in both dresses! I love that jacket too. I never would have thought of that style jacket with a dress, but it looks great! Thank you for discussing pantyhose again. Just needed another opinion. Have a blessed day everyone.

  13. Those dresses are beautiful and the price is right for something you might only get to wear once or twice. As for the Sorel vs. Marc Fisher boots, I vote Sorel. Marc Fisher is a favorite brand, but those particular ones look to me kind of not worth the money because you can find so many less expensive boots that look basically the same. But the Sorels are more unique, and they have a minimalist thing going on that I think is very current. Plus, you like heels, right?! You’ve really piqued my interest about Thursday…

  14. Thank you for sharing two fun, festive, & feminine Christmas dress options! I adore both looks! Either would be lovely for a party, Christmas Eve service, or even as a guest at a winter wedding. Beautiful & affordable! 🎄

  15. Both of these dresses are winners.. but everything is so casual now a days I would feel over dressed… we attended a Christmas banquet last year and that’s how I felt… never used too.. but things are going way too casual. I do really like both boots but the second has a better heel in my opinion.
    Blessings
    Karen
Ps the jacket option is a cute idea though… I could use that:)

  16. What kid of material is the top of the dress? Is it stretchy material and does it zip up the back? The website doesn’t give any details. It looks like a nice dress for a December wedding I am going to .Thanks!

  17. Fit and flare are my favorite style dresses! This look just beautiful on you! I can’t decide which one I like best, but at this price point you could get both, lol.
