My Makeup Tutorial

Happy hump day! I’m still trying to get myself back in gear from the holidays. I feel like I’m about a day behind, and I can’t catch up!

This year, I am trying to stretch myself, and videos definitely stretch me, but I figure the more I do, the more comfortable I’ll get at it. So yesterday I filmed myself putting on my makeup.

I did it in a fast mode because I’m the type of person that won’t watch a video if it’s very long, but I shared it on Instagram, and some women want a slowed-down version. That’s coming.

I typically put my makeup on with a magnifying mirror, and I didn’t use one in this tutorial because I use a special mirror that holds my iPhone when I’m filming, so there’s that.

I am not one to change my makeup routine very often, I do pretty much the same thing every day.

All the products I used in the video are listed below.

What I Use:

It Cosmetics CC Illumination Cream (Natural Tan)

It Bye Bye Pores Illumination

Tarte CC Undereye Corrector (light-medium)

Beauty Counter Romantic Eyeshadow

Tarte Tape Shape (light-medium)

Beauty Counter Bronzer (Dune)

Beauty Counter Brow Pencil (medium)

Beauty Counter Eye Pencil (Brown)

Grand Primer Lash Primer

Essence Lash Princess

Too-Faced Mascara

Nars Precision Lip Liner (not sure the color)

Maybelline Warm Me Up Lip color

Beauty Counter Lip Gloss (Bare Shimmer)

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart~~This morning, while working out, I heard the song by Lauren Daigle called O’ Lord. A phrase in the song caught my attention; You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right.

That is so comforting! God will take all that is wrong and make it right. It may not be exactly when we want it, but it will happen. Keep the faith!

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

Have a blessed day!

  1. Thanks for the tutorial and for taking the time to do it as you always look flawless. However, it was a little fast for me and difficult to follow some. A tad slower and brief narration would be wonderful!! Thanks!

  2. Hey Girl!
You are awesome! Thanks for sharing the sped up version of your makeup tutorial! It was helpful to see how you applied everything.
    Thanks!

  3. A slowed down version would be great! I’m curious as to why you’re putting on two mascaras after the primer.

  4. You are so gorgeous! Thanks for being so transparent showing us without your makeup. It gives me hope 😂
I have way more sun damage than you so i have spots that I have to cover up. I agree I want to see it in slow motion with you talking us through it. I did not see the name of the eye shadows you use either. I have recently changed lipstick to Color the World for women over 49 and I love that each lipstick is for a cause. I would love for you to try it and see what you think. I find it very moist and long lasting.
Thanks for all the things you do to make the world a better and more beautiful place. Blessings❤️

  5. Hi Cyndi,
I agree with those who said it was too fast. I honestly didn’t even watch it all the way through because it wasn’t helpful due to the speed. I love your voice so I would much rather see a tutorial that you talk through!

  6. You always look so flawless! You are a natural beauty and are so classy and elegant. I enjoy your emails and blog posts; especially Beauty from the Heart.💕 Thanks for sharing your makeup routine with us!

  7. Thank you for all your tips and tricks. I was wondering if you wear a specific type of blush. I noticed the bronzer mentioned but didn’t notice a blush brand or color. Can you include that information? I have similar coloring and was interested in your choice. Thank you.

  8. Thanks for the video and thank you for sharing your faith!
I am 49 and I never thought about my eyebrows thinninh until I was reading one of your earlier post. 🙄

  9. Love your tutorial and product choices. It might be fast but it will be great to save and use when we want to just see a portion without having to look through a long tutorial. I definitely will be saving this one!

  10. I agree, would like to see the video slowed down and with some commentary. You look great. I use to wear make-up EVERY day no matter what, but now that I am older and home more, I don’t put it on if I’m staying home all day. This can be a pain, if I decide to or need to go out, then I have to put it on later. I never go out without it on. Just me. As I’ve gotten older, I’m trying to use less and I’m in the process of changing all my old products into safe, CLEAN ones…..hard but needs to be done. I also just changed out my hairspray and mousse to cleaner. Still looking for a CLEAN shampoo that doesn’t smell too strong. I’m also trying not to wear eye liner on the bottom anymore, as I think it looks more harsh and not as natural. I never have worn it on the top and so not going to start. I don’t want it to look like such a drastic change when I have make up on and don’t, like when I go camping or swimming etc. Looking forward to more videos. They are fun. How long does it really take you from start to finish to put your “face” on?

  11. Thanks,Cyndi. I really would rather see tutorials with no commentary, so this is right for me…but yes, maybe a little slower. Lol.
I find as I get older, I use less foundation and more eye makeup!

  12. Thanks for the video. I was chuckling at how fast it was.. I now know why you look flawless as that’s a lot of products. I use Jane Iredale mineral based foundation, bronzer and blush. Eye liner and two shades of eyeshadow. No mascara ( once in a blue moon) and lipstick. This of course after my skin care routine. Trying to use the best non chemical products.. beauty counter sounds like a great line , I’m thinking about trying their hair products.
    Thanks for sharing
    Blessings
    Karen
PS I too like to apply make up daily but it’s nice to give our face a break too if we are taking a grace day at home:)

  13. Wearing makeup all the time is such a southern thing. It comes from our mama’s who insisted that they would not leave the house without their “face” on and proper lipstick. It took me awhile to break away from that mentality. Now I wear usually it when I go out and sometimes not even then.

  14. I am a less is more kind of girl. In fact the only time I wear make up is if I have an appointment, I am retired so it isn’t that often. I would love to learn more about makeup but just can’t
spend the type of money like what you posted. Most of it gets throw away because I don’t use enough of it. Wondering if more ladies feel the same way.

    1. Joy, I don’t spend this amount of money on makeup either. There are a lot of good youtube videos that show drugstore brands that are just as good. I also once saw an Oprah show with makeup artists that said the same thing. I am 70 and am often told I don’t look my age, so I guess I’m doing something right:)

  15. Wow, that would be great if I could do my makeup that fast – LOL. Just my 2 cents, I don’t care for non-speaking videos where one has to just kind of guess what is going on, which product is being used, why and how.

  16. Hi Cyndi,
Thanks for the great tutorial! I started using some of your recommended products and love them.
Would you let me know what sweater you’re wearing? The color looks fabulous on you and I have been looking for sweaters to “brighten” my wardrobe.
Thank you and have a blessed day,
    Marcia

  17. Thanks for doing this video Cyndi – you did a great job and it is so helpful. And now I have a few new products to try when I receive my next Ulta coupon!

  18. Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial! I too ALWAYS wear make-up. My routine has had to evolve over time as my skin matures! Ha Ha! Your look is natural, attainable, & lovely! 😊

  19. I’m so happy that you are going to do more videos this year. This video and product list was very helpful, however to really be able to catch each step and products I look forward to the slower version.
I too wear makeup every day. I just wear a little less on days that I don’t have appointments. Always wear skin care but some days wear bronzer, mascara, brow pencil only. Thks for doing this video.

  20. Thanks, very helpful! I agree with some of the other comments, I’m trying to go with the less is more connect as I get older, and spending more time and $$ on good skin care products. Although I don’t wear makeup everyday (in fact I look forward to a clean, fresh no make up day! 😉 ) you had some great tips. 2 Qs – how long start to finish does it take you to do your make up? And I use a clean makeup mascara with a primer, do you have to wait after the primer so it “dries” do put on the mascara?

    1. The primer is supposed to be wet when applying mascara. I usually do one lid at a time, so the primer doesn’t dry out.

  21. I love Essence Lash Princess mascara and have never known anyone else to use it. My husband ordered it for me when he saw it on a Deal of the Day and I am on my 3rd tube now. It is truly the best and I get compliments all the time.

    1. I appreciate the fact that you didn’t talk for 2 minutes between each product that you applied, that drives me crazy, but maybe slow down a tad. LOL
I know how to apply makeup as I’ve been doing it for many moons, but it is nice to hear about a better product from time to time or I’m always up for a change that will make things better. Right now I need a big dose of botox (for real) that’s my favorite skin regimen ;-D
Essence mascara is my favorite and it’s inexpensive. I got my daughter and granddaughter started on it as well.
I love Lauren Daigle and thanks for Beauty of the heart today as well.
      Have a super fabulous day!

  22. Wow, that’s a lot of steps. But your perfectly flawlessly beautiful. I’ve got to count my steps now 🙂

  23. I would like to see the slowed down version with commentary. You make it look so easy but I struggle with eyeshadow and how to make the eyes pop without looking overly made up.

  24. Thank you for your makeup list. Very helpful! Count me in as a follower looking forward to s slow version with your tips on how to apply each product. 😊

  25. Thanks, Cyndi, for following up on your promise to share your beauty routines and tips. I agree with others that your video was too fast…it was hard to tell exactly which products you were using and when. Looking forward, though, to more videos like this in the future.

  26. Thanks for the video! I too would like to see the slower version of this. I am just like you about everyday I put on makeup. I think I basically do some of the same steps but have slowed things down since I try to not do a heavy makeup application since getting alittle older. I mix things sometimes too. I use Tarte primer then Laura Mercier tinted mositurizer then Lancome crème foundation on just the middle area of face then add crème blush. I used a lighter Lancome foundation in the middle in summer..just the crème in winter. I have hollowing under eyes somewhat and try to disguise that. What do you suggest for that? I use shape tape mixed with some Maybelline instant line eraser concealer to try to help. Since I am older than you, I need to not have products crease. Any advice would be appreciated since you are so good at this! Thanks in advance! You look amazing in your finished photo 🙂
