Denim Trends for 2020

Happy Friday, ladies! If you’ve been around here for long, you know I love trends. I love looking ahead to see what we might be wearing.

While I look at the trends, I don’t wear all of them. I wear what works best for me, but I think adding trends to your wardrobe keeps you looking younger.

So I thought it would be fun to look at some denim trends for 2020. Truthfully, it seems there is now something for everyone!

Denim Trends for 2020

1. Vintage Denim– These are light-colored denim with a lived-in vibe to them.

2. High Rise Skinny Denim– If you love skinny jeans, you are good to go. They are not going anywhere; just grab the high rise ones.

3. Front Seam Denim– Front seams and even pleats are trending in 2020.

4. Bootcut and Flare Denim– Bootcut and flares are back! This includes cropped flares.

5. Distressed Denim– While distressed denim is not everyone’s favorite, it’s still trending.

I recently purchased a pair of Vintage Jeans from Madewell. They are a crop jean which I like, but I don’t wear them when the weather is freezing. My legs get cold!

They will be a great option for spring with wedge sandals, mules, or a flat sandal.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart~~I’m headed to a friend’s house today to video something for my Sunday devotion. We’re going to talk about facing our giants. I think it’s a topic that resonates with so many of us.

It’s easy to be fearful, to worry about the what-ifs. But we have a God who doesn’t want us to live in fear. So much of it has to do with how we look at things. Are we looking at it with eyes of faith or eyes of unbelief?

Do we have our eyes fixed on God or our circumstances? Remember, God has been faithful in our past, and He will be faithful in our future.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. Hebrews 12:1-2

Have a blessed day!

  1. Madewell has the best striped sweaters! I love this look. I live in a very casual community so I wear denim frequently. I have never tried Madewell denim, but will check their options now!! I even like the front seamed denim. Very flattering! Thanks for keeping us up to date on trends!

  2. Love the jeans! My favorite are the skinny , cropped always big on my list and the itty bitty flares. For petites, the itty bitty flares are wonderful as you can wear a taller boot or shoe or medium one either one and let the jean fall over and you gain inches in your leg length and there is something magical about the slim little flare narrowing your leg and making it look miles long. I have Democracy little bitty flares for petites but a lot to choose from nowadays. I also love the flares in the cropped version also. Seaming is great for us petites also and love that is back in! Thanks for sharing all this with us!

  3. Love all the jeans looks. My question is, I have long, sort of thin legs and the skinny jeans(like in picture 1 and 5), which I love, all are tight on my calves and bunch up. My calves are not exceptionally huge, I guess dancers’s calves- but every time I sit down and get back up the pants are up too high above my shoe and lots of leg is showing. Any advice other than don’t wear skinny jeans? haha

    1. I love the things you wear, however, I can’t wear most of the tops, especially the pull over ones because I am still having hot flashes so I tend to wear button or zip up tops with short sleeve tops under them because I am constantly tearing clothes off and putting them back on. LOL! Frustrating, yes, but very necessary. Constantly pulling clothes off and on over one’s head is bad for the hairdo and tends to tear my choclear implant hearing device off my head. So, once in a while could you mix it up a bit and throw in some hot flash friendly styles for us still putting up with this dilemma! You have great style so I’m sure you could find some really cute stuff for us “hot” chicks!!

  4. Thank you.
But do you ever show jeans that are just pull on , no zipper and button? I would be interested in some of those please.

  5. I need to find a good crop jean for spring and summer but I’m 5’3 so most are at my ankle. Love the BFTH I’m one who will look back at the what if’s.. not sure why? Because you can’t change those. But I am learning through age and wisdom to do things differently. Thankful God wants us to look forward:) I took Wednesday and put away and organized all the Christmas decor and cleaned as well. Felt a bit bare but was nice to get organized again. My closet purge will be done when I change seasons which will be awhile yet lol.
    Blessings

  6. Cyndi, great post! I’m 5’1”. Do you think I can get away with crops that are a bit flared?
BFTH, thank you! Look forward to Sunday!
    Blessings ❤️

  7. Hi Cyndi, I’m glad to see that almost anything goes with jeans right now. I still need a good pair of cropped jeans like you have on but will probably wait until summer. Thank you so much for the scripture this morning. It’s my favorite, I can just picture all those who have gone before us cheering us on like a runner at a track meet, telling us we can persevere, we can do it and Oh, the Glory that waits for us when we have finished this race! Hugs! Btw, I’m loving your FB page. 🙂

  8. Love this post! Please do a future post on the appropriate shoes to wear with each pant leg style. I feel like I have a 100 pair of shoes but never the RIGHT one. It’s easier with summer shoes, BUT winter shoes are a struggle. If it’s cold and rainy, bare ankles can ruin my day. It may look cute but very uncomfortable!

  9. Would you mind to post your video after you have it completed? I would LOVE to see it as well. This is definitely a topic I am struggling with right now, so I’d appreciate the lesson from your point of view.

  10. Thank you for showing what’s in fashion and stressing that you only wear what look good on your body.

And your “Beauty from the heart” is always spot on. Please tell me your going to post more for us to read about this. I am dealing with a big Giant in my life right now cancer.
I am looking for a larger in size crossbody in brown, let me know if you have any recommendations.

    1. Shannon,

I don’t normally post, but I wanted you to know that I am a 9 year breast cancer survivor. I had a mastectomy and chemo. Keep the faith, God is good and will see you through. There were definitely times when I was really down and scared, but God is faithful! I will keep you in my prayers.

  11. I like skinny jeans but am glad to see the return of the flare jeans. I when I wore them before I felt they made my legs look longer which was nice since I’m 5’4”. Thanks for sharing this new trend. I live in jeans being retired.

  12. I love the idea of the crop flare or even just the crop straight but my calves are muscular and the jeans hang/get stuck and it doesn’t look right so skinny it is…..for now

  13. Hi Cyndi! I love your blog as your style is right up my alley plus I like the price points you represent as well. Could you do a post on jewelry trends for spring? I love this company called Ink + Alloy and their accessories and I like their price point as well.

  14. Appreciate BFTH today. I tend to overthink things and ruminating about the “what ifs” can let doubt and fear creep in and grow a worry into a giant.

  15. I had some pants that I loved from Chicos and I ordered an additional pair this year and they had added a front seam to the same style. I am not a fan of the front seam. It was not comfortable and added more dimension to the front of my legs which I do not want or need!! Ha!

  16. I think that the seamed trousers are awesome. Very easy to dress up or down. I think I had a pair like that in 1974!

    1. I look forward to your Sunday post. I have to work hard to keep the “what ifs” at bay. Glad to see the variety of denim for 2020.

    2. Linda, I agree! I loved jeans with the front seam the first time and that’s one trend I’ll wear again

    3. Linda, I agree! I loved jeans with the front seam the first time and that’s one trend I’ll wear again (although I’ll be looking for a pair at a lower price point)

  17. I have always liked flare jeans (even when they weren’t in style) 🙂
I have a couple of pair, however, I’m 5’3” and not sure if they really look good on me.
