Happy Sunday, ladies! I’ve been writing these Sunday devotions for quite a few years. Many of you have shared your joys and your pain with me.
Last week, I shared I Know That You Are Good. I read the comments on that post with tears in my eyes. You can read them HERE.
We have lived enough life that most of us have gone through difficult seasons.
Life is full of seasons. Some are filled with tremendous happiness, but some are filled with an overwhelming amount of pain.
Jesus is with us. He is with us through it all, and we can trust Him. One day there will be healing.
Psalm 28:7 says, “The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart.
There’s a song by Matt Redmon called, Blessed Be Your Name, and it says,
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say, Lord
Blessed be Your name, Lord
Those words are hard to sing. Jesus gives, and he takes away, but I will choose to say Blessed Be Your Name.
None of us like the “taking away” part. Loss is not easy; brokenness is not easy.
I’m learning more and more that thankfulness doesn’t mean that my life is perfect (far from it), but thankfulness is a choice.
No matter what the journey brings, I want to choose to say, Lord Blessed Be Your Name.
I know many of you have gone through extremely difficult seasons. Maybe you’re in one right now. You can’t see how any good will ever come from your situation.
I don’t have the answers, but I do know this. God loves you, and He is faithful. Please know that I’m praying for you!

Sometimes I have a fear that if I live by this devotional, something tragic will happen. I know in my heart this is not true, but I have yet to overcome it.
I am definitely going through a season where I feel like God has taken away….but I know God is faithful. Your post today helped me to remember to be thankful through all experiences. As a family member who has been affected by addiction, this song speaks to me.
God always have a plan. Your posts have really helped me lately.

Thank you for your always inspiring and insightful BFTH posts. And for everyone going through a difficult season may Hid fill you with the peace only He can give. Recently a local pastor lost his wife after a long battle with illness. During her memorial service one of her sons testified that he was praying and asking God why didn’t He answer their prayer for healing. Here is part of what he said:
And as I was wrestling with God, He answered. And He said, “Number 1, You don’t understand the nature of My victory because just because I didn’t answer your prayer your way doesn’t mean that I haven’t already answered your prayer anyway.
“Because victory was already given to your mom. You don’t understand because of the victory that I have given you.
“There was always only two answers to your prayers—either she was going to be healed or she was going to be healed.
Either she was going to live or she was going to live. Either she was going to be with family or she was going to be with family.
Either she was going to be well taken care of or she was going to be well taken care of. Victory belongs to Me because of what I’ve already done for you.
The two answers to your prayer are yes and yes. Because victory belongs to Jesus.”

Cyndi, thanks so much for sharing this devotional and song with us. My cousin passed away on Friday after suffering from Spinal Bifida all her life. She has received her healing and she is praising Jesus, running and jumping for joy in heaven now. We praise God that we will see her again because of what Jesus did for us!
Tears as I’ve read some of these comments. I’m going to pray for you all. Going through a season myself and learning to lean more on Him. He is our strength. Phil 4:6&7
My mom passed away this week, Alzheimer’s being her gateway into eternity. I believe this is ultimately her healing. We pray for healing here on earth but death, and then life with Jesus is true healing. 🥰
Karen I’m sooo sorry. My mom has Alzheimer’s so I know the disease. You are right …..she is now healed. May you feel his comfort in the coming days.
CYNDI, I just found you about a year ago and you have truly been my rock your message are so uplifting. My husband lost his voice to throat cancer and has really had it rough I had to quite my job to take care of him and I just found out Thurs that I have a mass on my lung and my spleen been really sick but I know God will bring me thur this. Asking for all your ladies to pray for us.Thanks for your message this morning.

We lost our baby girl at 2 weeks and I have sang this song with arms lifted high and tears flowing many times. When I was pregnant my then 4 year old son would sing to my belly everyday his favorite song “ Here I am to bow down, here I am worship, here I am to say that you’re my God”. God is so good to us, even when he gives and takes away. He loves us and his mercies are new every morning. Love you and your post Cyndi, thank you for what you do❤️

This was such a blessing to wake up to this morning. Love this song! A few years ago I lost my husband suddenly in a tragic accident. Just like that, he was gone. The next morning I remember feeling so overwhelmed, and crying out to the Lord to give me strength and peace. I felt a peace that I had never felt before, despite all of the heartache I was feeling. It has been a hard road for my family and I to have to travel, but Jesus has been right their beside us every single step of the way.

We just discussed this very topic last night at Church. Our Pastor who is in a very difficult season right now said it’s all a choice. You either choose to believe that Jesus is who he says he is, kind, loving, gentle and generous, or you don’t. He stated we don’t always have our questions answered or get to know why bad things happen. He ended th e sermon that his choice will alway be to believe and trust in the Lord. That he is “all in” til the end of the race. Beautiful sentiments!
