Wisdom & How I Fight My Battles

Hi ladies! I hope you’re having a good weekend; it always goes by fast. Today I’m sharing a few things that have spoken to me this week.

One of the questions I often get asked is, what devotion do I use? I read a lot of devotions throughout the week, and most of them are online.

The Bible App is one I use often. There’s a daily devotion, but they also have studies that you can read, and they have videos.

Another online app that I use is First 5 from Proverbs 31 Ministries, and I have Jesus Calling.

I love using all of those, but the one thing I try to do is open my Bible and read scripture. Sometimes I’ll read a book of the Bible during a week, or I’ll use the daily reading plan in the back of my Bible.

Opening up God’s word daily is important! Psalm 119:11 says I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

I read this below from Lisa Whittle, and it spoke to me. Maybe because I have been reading through the book of Proverbs. I’m praying for wisdom, more than ever.

Activities of  the Wise:

Turn off the phone when necessary.
Get outside & enjoy nature.
Read the Word every day, more than any other source.
Move your body/treat it well.
Pray continuously.
Silent when overtires/over-emotional.
Memorizes scripture.
Seeks God first in every situation.
Drinks water.
Deals with things vs. stuffing them.
Has honest conversations.
Gathers wise counsel.
Steady vs. hype mentality.
Holy Spirit-controlled.
Hungry to learn.
Asks important questions/listen well.
Takes godly representation seriously.
Tests everything with the Word.
Takes everything to God.
Gets proper sleep.

Another thing I found online…This is how I fight my battles. If we are going to live victoriously, we have to be intentional. We have to spend time in God’s word. As Lisa said above, it’s better than any other source we can read.

Lastly, I heard this song, and it’s so appropriate for what we are going through right now. But also for those times, we experience deep hurt or loss.

I have been there when I couldn’t see how any good could come from my situation. But, that still small voice reminded me, It’s GOING TO BE OK.

Ladies, I hope you know how loved you are today. God has you in the palm of His hand!

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

Have a blessed day!

  4. thanks for this. the world may be crumbling around us due to the Covid. but we know it will be okay for we are in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ.
thanks again blessing to you and your family

  5. Thank you! As I sit with my mom at the hospice house, this spoke to my heart. She is transitioning, and it’s very hard to see her this way. Praying for her to peacefully pass into the arms of Jesus.

    1. Tracy, I consider it a gift from God that I was with my mother while she was in hospice. So many people get the phone call in the middle of the night that their mother is gone. I was able to be with my mom every precious last few days she had on earth. I lost count of how many times I told her I loved her. She’s with Jesus and someday I will see her again. I pray God would bring you peace and comfort.

    2. Tracy……so sorry to hear about what you are going through with your mom. I just read Cyndi’s post for this day…..late…… and your comment touched me. I wish you blessed, last moments with your mom. My mom is in a memory care assisted living and I haven’t been able to see her for 7 months, as we are not allowed to visit the assisted living or her come out. So hard. I’m glad hospices are allowing families to say their good-byes and be with their loved ones. So important. I lost my dad from falling off a ladder over 20 years ago. I wish I could have said good-bye and told him I loved him many times. I’m glad you get to do this. God is with you both. I’ll say a prayer for you both now.

  6. Thank you so much for that song, I really needed it today. I love your blogs and you are serving the Lord well in what you do. Thanks again!

  7. I lovethe song! Yes, when we surrender to Jesus and His beautiful calling in our lives, surrender to obedience, we will be OK. Thank you for the encouragement!

  8. Devo’s are essential. Please be careful…the Jesus Calling one is very controversial. In Touch daily devotional from Dr. Charles Stanley, Our Daily Bread, on line: Allistair Begg, John MacArthur, Jack Hibb, David Jeremiah, all solid, Bible teaching ministries. Start every day with God’s word. Your will be blessed and bless others.

  9. Thank you for sharing your devotion to God. Reading today’s blog confirms I am “following” the right fashion consultant. God calls us to teach his Word in traditional and non-traditional ways. You are reaching thousands of people through your blog, and spreading the Good News. Blessings to you as you continue your ministry.

  10. Hi Cyndi!
I just found your blog this week! I was looking for a new hairstyle and was inspired by your cut! I was born in Ft Mitchell, KY and I live in Cumming, GA now. I am a Christian and a retired school teacher! I have enjoyed all your ideas and the scriptures you post! Bless you! I wanted to pass on an idea for some awesome worship music. If you have Alexa ask her to play songs by Don Moen! Enjoy the praise music! Hugs- Benet Dale❣️

  11. Love this post Cyndi. The activities of the wise is spot on, the song is beautiful and your heart for Jesus & encouraging others is beautiful!! God bless you friend. I hope you & Wayne enjoy your drive today 😘

  12. One of my favorite worship songs! It will be OK as God is in control and we just need to lean on him.. I love what’s written on the side of the Bible! When we put on the armor of God we can not only face but win those battles!
    Blessings
    Karen

  13. This is about the best devotion you have ever shared. I loved reading the list of things the wise do. I can’t agree enough how important Gods Word is to us.
