Truth Be Told

Hi ladies! I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. I’m headed to church this morning, and then we’ll have Sunday dinner.

For several weeks, I had heard this song on the radio. The tune was catchy, but to be honest, I didn’t really listen to the words.

One day while driving somewhere, the song came on, and this time I listened and WOW.

The song says, Lie number one, You’re supposed to have it all together. Lie number 2, everybody’s life is perfect except yours.

How true! I’m guilty of looking at someone else’s life and thinking their life is perfect. Social media doesn’t help the situation.

I think if the truth be told, many of us are broken. Most of us have had seasons of pain and loss.

I love the part of the song that says; There’s no failure, no fall. There’s no sin you don’t already know. So let the truth be told.

It’s okay to say I’m not fine; I am hurting. Jesus already knows.

Do you sometimes compare your life to other people? Do you sometimes say you’re fine when you’re really not?

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

Have a blessed day!

  1. Thank you so much for posting this. I’m the worst at looking at social media and comparing myself and It’s a struggle for me. As a single mom living on a strict budget, it’s not easy looking at bloggers decorating their half million dollar homes for Christmas, buying the latest fashion, looking a certain way, being a certain weight, etc.
I’ve become more drawn to following people that tell about their “not so perfect life”, someone who is not the “perfect” weight. My goal is to get off all social media. My 22 year old daughter told me just last night that I need to watch The Social Dilemma on NetFlix.

  2. Woah- I was JUST listening to this song, looked up the words and was absolutely moved to tears. Matthew West is my favorite!! Then I read your blog post & it’s the SAME SONG! Ok, God, I’m listening! 😉 I am always encouraged by women who can be REAL. Those who aren’t afraid to say “Life is great, BUT ya know what?! Sometimes it’s just HARD.” I was just diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I am CHERISHING my good days & praise God in good and trying my hardest to praise Him on the bad days as well. ❤ Truth Be Told, some days I struggle! But THE BIG TRUTH is that God is Good!!

  3. I love this song…and you are so right! Social media just makes comparing ourselves to others such a thief of our own blessings. I feel especially bad for our youth because they don’t seem to comprehend what’s going on behind the scenes…

  4. I’ve heard that song many times, but I’ve never watched the video. Such a beautiful message…and such “truth”, for sure! Thank you for sharing it with us, Cyndi.

  5. Oh my goodness…yes! The first time I heard this song I was heavily convicted. By telling someone you’re fine when you’re not….you’re robbing them of the opportunity to minister to you, to pray for you, to love on you!

It’s ok to admit we’re not perfect, not fine. I mean…duh….that’s why we need our Savior!

  6. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you, as always for sharing a kind and inspirational blessing. This song made me cry, not just because of its beauty, but knowing how many people in this world need this. Thank you again ❤️

    1. I’m so glad you shared this topic on your post today. The song is so powerful and reminds me as I went through a difficult time this week, that in the week ahead I need to lean into God. Blessings to you for the difference your honesty makes.

  7. Hi Cyndi!
I have to admit I did the same with this song. The melody was catchy but one day I was driving to work, the song came on and the words came into full focus! I was like, WOW, this is so true our Lord and savior already knows our struggles and he is there for us to put our troubles and concerns on him. I don’t know how others who do not know Him survive with out experiencing His life-line but I pray that they will come to know Him and find rest in His unfailing love.

Grace and Peace from God our Father!

  8. My favorite song of the past few months. Something I have always struggled with. Trying to battle through this life alone and thinking that made me stronger or better some how. It took me looking at my adult daughter trying to do the same thing to realize how wrong I was. God is our Father and He wants to share in our burdens. He is the only one who can make them light enough to bear sometimes, but He needs us to ask him for help. Thank you for your thoughts and words and may your day be blessed.

  9. Ha! I soon as I read the title of your post, I knew the song you were referencing. I’ve thought about this song too. I know I never want to bother anyone with my “issues”, yet I always listen and help others with theirs. However, we also know the truth sets us free! Have a blessed day Cyndi and thank you for being obedient to your calling 😉

  10. I love this song, and really like his songs. His new Christmas song about the Hope of Christmas is good too!

Happy Sunday to you! Thanks for the encouragement.

  11. God has sure blessed me through you! I thanked Him for you today 💜 Your beauty shines through to your words & thoughts & I appreciate them! Have a blessed day & keep the Good stuff coming!!

  12. Cyndi
Thanks you so much for this post this morning!! This is why I follow Christian bloggers. I’m in the middle of a very tough storm in my life and I do feel like everyone’s life is perfect when u see the post and pictures. Sometimes I stay off social media because it makes me feel worse. . So thank you for this song which I have always loved. I always say I’m fine but I’m so broken. Enjoy your day with your family. Donna

  13. Thank you for sharing this song. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard it but with the video to go along with it you definitely get the message… your thoughts today are so true and thank you for the reminder that all is not perfect nor does it need to be.. one of the down sides to social media I guess. Have a blessed day💕

  14. This resonated with me – this past week has been so incredibly hard and trying to keep it together emotionally, mentally, and physically has taken its tole. This song moved me to tears because it’s beyond true……

  15. I too, love this song! It reminds me of a quote I saw that spoke to me…went something like this: We compare our “insides” to everyone’s outsides…what others post on social media is often their outsides…false fronts!!!

  16. Constantly! That is one reason I’m drawn to Christian bloggers, who share encouraging scripture and admit all is not perfect.

  17. I also had been listening to the song but not really LISTENING. A couple of weeks ago, I really heard it ! Believe it is so true, a powerful song.
