Happy Sunday! Just like that, Thanksgiving 2020 is behind us and now we look ahead to Christmas. Today begins the Advent season.
Advent means ‘coming’ in Latin, and as Christians, it’s a time for us to remember and prepare for the birth of Jesus.
I don’t know about you, but this year more than ever, I am ready to celebrate the coming of Jesus….the coming of Hope. We sure need hope.
Yesterday I was talking to someone going through a difficult season, and she said while she knew she was going to have a hard season ahead of her, she did not go through it without hope.
She knew that Jesus was with her, and she was thankful for that assurance.
Christmas is a season of hope. Yes, we love decorating, we love giving gifts, and we love all the wonderful food, but the best part of Christmas is celebrating Jesus.
John 1:14 says, The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
If you’re feeling hopeless, let me remind you that Jesus came to earth, and he brought hope. In the midst of all that 2020 has brought us, we still have reason to celebrate.
Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests. Luke 2:11-14
Have a blessed day!
