Celebrating Jesus

Happy Sunday, ladies! It’s the last Sunday before Christmas, and that’s hard to believe.

As I begin a new week, I was thinking about everything I need to get done before next Friday.

While Christmas looks different this year, I still have gifts to wrap, food to make, and I need to address my Christmas cards to send out (better late than never!).

Most importantly, I want to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. How can I celebrate the birth of Jesus this week?

Here are some things I plan to do:

*Set aside a special time to read the Christmas story in Luke 1:5-56 through 2:1-20.

*I’m going to purchase a birthday cake for Jesus and have it for our family on Christmas day.

*Before we open gifts on Christmas day, my husband will read the Christmas story.

*We’ll attend a Christmas church service together as a family. ( I know this year is different with Covid, but our church is still having Christmas Eve services. It’s always the highlight of our family’s Christmas.)

It’s been a hard year with COVID-19, political, and social unrest. I’ve had days when I felt I couldn’t handle all that was going on in the world.

But scripture reminds us we still have hope!

  • So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord! Psalm 31:24
  • I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word. Psalm 130:5
  • But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
  • Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23
  • May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

This Christmas season, will you join me and make room for Jesus? Don’t worry if your tree isn’t perfect or the baking isn’t finished. It’s not about perfect packages or perfect tablescapes.

It’s about Jesus……

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

Hope has a name!

  1. Thank you for the reminder of what this season is all about. As I get older (I’m 74) I want to make things simpler but I still love to make Christmas special for my family.

  2. Beautiful! Love this focus…and the picture of the Babe in the manger with John 1:14 below it makes it very real. Thank you! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  3. Thank you for you beautiful words of encouragement from God’s word! The real reason for the season- Jesus! Love your blog and especially the Sunday encouragement you give! Merry Christmas to you and your family and thanks for making my 2020 more bearable and much more fashionable! ❤️

    1. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful song and message. I needed to hear this message . Merry Christmas and God bless you and your family.

  4. Amen!!! I’ve been telling myself this too. We do all the things you mentioned you are going to do as part of our Christmas each year. :). The part that I stress the most about is the food with all our families allergies to all the top 8 allergy foods and more. So hard to cook for everyone. I really have to give it to the Lord each time they come home for Christmas. I’m so fortunate they all help if needed but I still wake up early with my list making etc. My daughter, husband and baby were exposed to covid and got their test back as negative so very thankful for that. We all were pretty stressed. Thanks for your post today to encourage to be intentional…. so important. Thank you for your blog this last year to help us have some fun fashion and the BFTH. Helped a lot. Merry Christmas Cyndi.

  6. I love these scriptures. My word for this year was Hope. Seeing these just reminded me of our hope in Christ. Without him I don’t know how people can make it through trials and difficult times! Thanks for using your platform to share Christ with others
    Have a Merry Christmas!🎄

  7. Yes Christmas is different this year but nothing can take away or should take away the joy in our hearts for the best gift of all the birth of Jesus!! I’m thankful that we will be together as a family in our small gathering.. and my thoughts are with those who may not have that privilege this year or have lost loved ones. It’s one of our traditions to read the Christmas story around the tree Christmas morning… blessings and Merry Christmas 💕

  8. Thank you for this beautiful reminder! This year is definitely difficult for my kids as they won’t be able to spend time with their grandparents because of all of the covid outbreaks. There’s so much to still be grateful for and the biggest one of all is JESUS!
