Summer Style Series: How To Style A Maxi Dress

Happy Monday, ladies! Jo-Lynne Shane and I are continuing our summer-style series. Each Monday in June, we’re sharing a summer trend, and we’re asking another over 40 blogger to join us.

This week Deborah from Fabulous After 40 is joining us. I’ve known Deborah for years, and we’ve been to several conferences together. She has great style and a wonderful website with lots of information for women over 40.

Today, we’re each sharing How To Style a Maxi Dress.

Summer Style Series: How To Style A Maxi Dress

I love wearing maxi dresses in the summer, and this year, I especially love all the white dresses. This white dress is from Express and is on sale; sizes are selling out fast.

I styled this maxi dress with a wedge sandal, but I think it would look good with a flat sandal too. I also added gold bangle bracelets that are lightweight and great to wear with all your summer looks.

The dress is lined, so it’s not see-through.

The back of the dress has a zip closure.

  1. Darling dress and the entire outfit looks adorable. I will not however wear a strapless bra so the dress is out for me. A while back, one of the ladies commented that we cannot see the tops of your dresses since you have your hair over it. maybe just push one side back so we can see the top of the dress without having to follow a link? I too have questions on what the meal prep was for the week. I have tried and failed so if you have something new to share, please do. Thanks,
To respond to Kathy – no fear at all about reentry. I actually, except for a few months early on, never stayed away from my life. I made that decision to go and do what I wanted, including flying. It is a personal choice.

  2. So cute. I love you in all dresses. That’s great you are all ready for the week with your meals. Do you still do If? I’m sure it will help getting ready for your trip to have cooking done. That’s so neat you get that vacation. My husband and I are slowly getting out there now but we just have a small vacation planned for Bend, OR. about 5 hours from our home. It’s a great place to do outside adventures and the hotel is new so it feels safer to me. The weather is great there and we have fond memories of camping and boating near by. I’m just not ready to fly yet. It’s been years since we have and with covid not ready yet. I’m one of those having hard time with re-entry. Anyone else?

    1. Yes, Kathy, i have had anxiety about re-entry. My daughter is an ICU nurse at the largest hospital in the Midwest. After hearing what she and the other nurses/doctors/frontline workers have seen, I’ve had a difficult time. Though she only lives 20 minutes from us, we hadn’t seen her in almost a year until recently, after we were all vaccinated. We have planned a trip for later in the summer, and we’re finally getting out more.

  3. Such a pretty look! I ordered the white one you styled from Old Navy so I’ll give that one a try first. Quick question.., How do you meal prep but yet keep it all fresh for the week so you don’t feel like you’re eating leftovers? I’ve always wondered this when people talk about making meals ahead of time for a whole week🤷‍♀️ Have a great day!

  4. That’s a super sweet LWD. I was so surprised those wedges were TOMS. They’re super cute…not that TOMS aren’t, but I just wasn’t expecting that. LOL Have a great week. XO

  5. Wow, Cyndi. This is gorgeous! You look angelic. Love this dress and the way you have styled it. So Summery! Cheers, Deborah
