Thankful For Our Freedom

Happy 4th of July, ladies! I woke up today so thankful for the freedom that we have here in America.

Freedom is fragile, and it needs to be protected. We were founded by men who knew that, and they wrote the Declaration of Independence.

In case you haven’t read it, this is how it starts:

In Congress, July 4, 1776

“The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”


I’m so thankful for our country, but even more than that, I’m thankful that I have the freedom to worship Jesus. I get to go to church today, and that is a blessing!

Jesus talks a lot about freedom, but His freedom is even better. Jesus offers not only the forgiveness of sins but freedom FROM sin — to no longer be enslaved to sin! (Mark 10:45)

That is GOOD NEWS! Jesus promises if we follow Him, we will be free, free indeed.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36

Today, let’s be thankful for our freedom, not only in America but the freedom we have in Jesus!

  1. Thank you for this beautiful post. I have had family members serve in almost every conflict this country has had since 1776 and great-nephew just joined the Navy following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. Praying that our 4 Freedoms will be forever! To say it simply…God Bless the USA!! Happy Independence Day to all!
