Fall Color Trends to Try: Root Beer & Ochre

Happy Monday, ladies! It’s hard to believe it’s the last week of September, I blinked again, and another month is almost gone.

Today I’m teaming up with Jo-Lynne for our final fall color trend, and we’re sharing two different colors this week.

I’m sharing the root beer color, a rich herbal brown tone, and Jo-Lynne is sharing the ochre color, a light brownish-yellow.

Brown or root beer, as Pantone calls it, is one of my favorite colors to wear during the fall and winter seasons. It was cool here last week, and I wore this brown sweater from Amazon.

The sweater has a relaxed turtleneck neckline and overall loose fit. I paired the sweater with light wash jeans from EVEREVE.

My booties have a nod to the western style, which is trending for fall.

  1. Calling brown root beer is creative. I hope it comes back because it’s been years since I found brown. This year I did find a cardigan in chocolate brown. I’m glad the brown pants and jeans I bought years ago at Macy’s are in good shape and in style as they are both straight leg. Finding brown dress pumps or slingbacks is impossible. They are either nude or camel. Let us know if you find brown dress shoes. I like the sweaters on you. You always look great.

  2. I like the rootbeer much better than the other color. I see your new entry table mirror came. It looks nice. Thanks for the Fall series.

  3. I love all 4 of these sweaters. Thanks for sharing them with us. This root beer color matches my eyes and hair so people always compliment me when I wear this shade. I will be updating my wardrobe today!

  4. Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate the color trends you and JoLynne presented during this month. It is so helpful to see a variety of items in the color of the week styled like you did today. I just watched you and Claire on instagram. Loved her Peppa Pig fashion show and particularly enjoyed her song:-)

  5. All of these sweaters are cute and look good with your coloring. It’s funny how we see things differently. I really like the outfit with the brown sweater, tan booties, and black purse. Your Earrings tied it all together. I do wish you and JoLynn would style pants other than jeans. You just can’t wear jeans everywhere, and especially not ripped, torn, or ragged edges. Or maybe you can?? And I need to get with the program.
BFTH is right on as usual.

  6. The V-Neck sweater from amazon is adorable. Reviews say to order 1 or 2 sizes up. Do you agree with that? Or just order your normal size? Is it long enough to cover your bum??? LOL
Always love your style and more importantly your faith.

  7. I love the rich brown you styled today. I want to add this to my wardrobe!

Beauty for the heart really applied to me today- thank you for that. Could you recommend a book or anything that would help move from head knowledge of God to heart? God feels so far away right now.

    1. The psalms are a wonderful reminder that David cried out to the lord & the Lord hears & answers. Even when we don’t see God working he is working behind the scenes. Stretching & growing our faith. Hang in. Draw close to God & he will draw near to you 🙂

    2. Susan I’m going to recommend the Bible. I know there are good books but there’s no book that will help you more.
We all go through seasons where God feels distant but I promise you he’s not.

  8. I understand about not being able to wear certain colors! That mustard yellow color that was everywhere last season made me look jaundiced!
If I like an unflattering color, I just use it in accessories, and keep it away from my face.
    You look great!

  9. Loved all of these sweater and have a couple in my cart. I love wearing this color also. Any color that is bright and deep works for me but not pale washed out colors.

Thanks for sharing these cute and reasonably priced sweaters.

  10. I don’t wear much brown, I tend to go with black or grey in the fall.
I also think the brown sweater, tan booties and black purse are throwing me off a bit as well. Maybe a leopard or plaid purse would have pulled the colors together?
I do like your new white table and pretty fall accessories😊
