5 Ways to Style a Plaid Shirt

Happy Friday, ladies! This time of year, I love wearing a red plaid shirt. Actually, I like to wear anything with a pop of red in it!

This shirt from J.Crew Factory is a great wardrobe staple, and today, I’ve got 5 different style options, including casual and dressy.

  1. I love these ideas for the red plaid shirt. I’m going to try them all…except the lace skirt. Too out there for me.

  2. Cindi,
I have always wanted that exact shirt! I’ve been reading your blog for a number of years but I have forgotten how tall you are and how much you weigh. I am 5’2” tall and weigh 115 so I’m not sure if I’d be an extra small or a small. I hope you can answer me before there’s none left in stock. 🙂
    Thanks 😊

  3. You look fantastic in all the looks! I don’t do any style without something extra since petite . I think it is from the 1970’s when we wore so many plaid things in pants even and some shoes that are vague in my mind but I was so tiny – 88 lbs and 5′ 0″ and wore them all. It was kinda a boyish look back then & I pulled it off but now I want a ruffle somewhere or something to blouse. ha! Softness is key in my looks now so I would try the sweater look over the blouse probably. I have one JS shirt in plaid with a ruffle over the shoulder meeting arm. You can pull off anything I think Cyndi! Great job styling the plaid!

  4. #4 is my favorite, worn as a shacket over the Merry tee but I like the black jeans better than the more form fitting blue denims so that may be partially why I prefer that one. I would definitely wear #1-3 but #5 is outside my personal style. Have a wonderful weekend!.

  5. I would wear the oversized cardigan and the black vest often. I wouldn’t do the lace skirt myself, but it looks darling on you. I can’t stay out late these days without feeling it the next day, either!

  6. Gotta be honest I’m not loving it with the lace skirt. I believe it’s the ONLY thing you’ve ever shown that I didn’t like. You always look amazing though!!

  7. LOVE Lauren Daigle!!! I know you had a great time! <3 I saw her in 2016 in Dallas, my son and I went and had VIP tickets, so we got to meet her and get a pic. My son was in love!! (They are about the same age)

Also, LOVE this plaid shirt…. so I bought it! Thanks!

I like all 5 of these ways that you styled it, probably my least favorite would be the oversized cardigan. It's cute on you, but would be too much for my large upper body! lol

    Blessings!

  8. So cute. My favorite is with the black vest & boots. My daughter and I were just talking about getting tickets to a Lauren Daigle concert. Sounds fun! Have a blessed day Cyndi 😘

  9. We saw Lauren Daigle in Toledo last Saturday night. It was so awesome. Such a beautiful voice and of course message. Really like the way you styled the plaid. Love plaid, but always felt I looked too farm girl.(I really am at heart). At my age, I wanted a more elevated look. Thanks for the great ideas. I really love the outfit with the lace skirt. Have a great day!

  10. I like the one with the oversized cardigan! When I went to Amazon the cardigan looked totally different. It looks cute on you.

  11. Well, I couldn’t get your emails for a month, but here you are again! Yay!
I love plaid for winter. I have several plaid shirts, so I love the variety of ways you styled them.

  12. Nice job in this one. I usually don’t do plaid but really like how you styled it. Your fashion creativity is coming through fill strength on this post.

  13. I loved this try on when you shared it on your reel. I can re create some of these looks ! So cute and I would never have thought about the lace skirt!
    Have a great weekend
