The Peace of Christmas-Advent

This is the third Sunday of Advent, and today we are focusing on peace. If you listen to the news, you know our world lacks peace.

Not only is our world lacking peace, but many of our homes are lacking peace.

When things in my life would get difficult, my Mom would always remind me of John 14:27. I still quote this verse often!

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid.

Christ came to give us peace. Let’s seek peace.

Here are some other scripture verses that remind us to cling to peace.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3

“When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Proverbs 16:7

When this world seems like it is spinning out of control, Christ says, I will give you peace.

I don’t know what you’re struggling with today, but Christ wants to give you peace! Peace in your heart, peace in your marriage, peace with your children, and peace in your home.

  1. The third Sunday in Advent (also called Gaudete Sunday) reflects on Rejoicing/Joy. Peace is the focus of the 2nd week of Advent. I love to see protestants celebrating Catholic Christian traditions.

  2. Thank you so much for these words, I needed to hear this right now. My uncle who is a paraplegic lives in Louisville and I have been waiting to hear from him. I need peace while I wait. Peace, hope and prayers.

  3. Thank you for your message.Yes we all need peace and comfort during these difficult times going on in our world that we live in today. If we can all be silent for 5 minutes of prayer today for all the tornado victims we will feel God’s hand and peace.God Bless and Merry Christmas.

  4. Thank you Cyndi for this beautiful message. We all need peace in our heart & world. May God bless you & your beautiful family this Christmas season. You ‘re a great inspiration to me. Love & blessing … Lori M.

  5. Yes, this world definitely needs the Peace that only He can give. How awesome it would be if the major news outlets start sharing more of the good things going on instead of all of the bad things. Maybe that would help change the hearts of some people.
