Healthy Tips For Women Over 40

Staying healthy over 40 and beyond is not an easy task, but I genuinely believe these can be some of our best years. Today I’m sharing some healthy tips to help us feel and look our best!

When my kids were young, I never felt I had enough time to focus on my health, and I was so busy with them. I didn’t make my health a priority.

Now that we’re empty-nesters, I have more time to work at staying healthy. Embrace this season of life and start making some changes to keep you healthy for the rest of your life.

Here are Healthy Tips For Women Over 40:

1. Eat clean. What you eat is key to staying healthy, feeling good, and looking fit in your 40’s and beyond. It’s important to eat foods with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.

Antioxidants are naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, such as Vitamin A, C, E, zinc, lutein, and green tea, that can boost your overall health.

Green tea can brighten up your complexion by eliminating impurities from your skin.

I also try to limit my sugar intake, which is always a battle because I love sweets. I used to eat M&M’s all the time, but now when I’m craving something sweet, I’ll make these energy bites.

Faster Way to Fat Loss has helped me with my food choices and helped me learn how to intermittent fast. If you need a jump start to help you get healthy, check out FWTFL HERE.

2. Drink plenty of water. Water helps with every function in the body. As we age, water’s health benefits become even more important for energy, kidney function, and so much more.

I drink water throughout the day (I drink black coffee in the morning). Sometimes I add Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier to my water, and it tastes great!

I quit drinking diet coke years ago, and when I need something with some fizz, I drink a Zevia cola.

3. Exercising regularly. Just 30 minutes a day gives your metabolism a jump start. You don’t have to join a gym to exercise. There are plenty of workout programs online.

Fitness Blender is one of my favorites, and they offer free videos.

Muscles start to shrink as we age. Add weights to your exercise routine to maintain your muscles.

Strength training helps prevent losing muscle mass, improves symptoms of arthritis, prevents osteoporosis, diabetes, and lowers the body-fat percentage.

4. Get Sleep – Sleep is connected to our productivity and even our eating habits. Sleep is crucial, yet it can be hard to get as we age.

Exercise during the day can help you wind down in the evening and prepare for sleep.

Some of the benefits of sleep are:

  • Get sick less often.
  • Stay at a healthy weight.
  • Lower your risk for serious health problems, like diabetes and heart disease.
  • Reduce stress and improve your mood.

5. Eat More Protein – I try to eat more protein and fewer carbs. That doesn’t mean I don’t eat carbs, but I try to watch my carb intake.

Protein makes you feel full, helps with muscle mass, boosts metabolism, can help you lose weight, and generally helps you stay fit as you age.

One last thing, I use Modere liquid collagen. I am reading more and more that liquid collagen is better than powder collagen. If you’re gluten-free, use Pure liquid collagen.

Liquid BioCell collagen has 13 phytonutrient-rich superfoods and resveratrol to improve joints, skin, and the aging process.

Truth: In John chapter 13, Jesus washes his disciple’s feet. Jesus knew Judas would betray him, Peter would deny him, and all the other disciples were going to scatter. Yet Jesus still washed their feet. What an act of humility and service. We are called to serve like Christ.

  1. All great tips. I’ve made the energy bite recipe and love it a little too much. I have had to stop making them because I pop one in after the other! Delicious!

  2. Hi Cyndi!
I want to try the Modere collagen, but the links in the email don’t work for me. I want you to get credit for the sale. They go around in circles asking me to create an account over and over .
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you!
    Pam

  3. Great tips Cyndi…
Exercise has become a healthy habit!
I also have had a holistic nutritional consultant do omega readings which helped me know what my body was weak in , balanced in or stressed… and could recommend the right supplements that my body needed.. not all of us require the same things.. what’s normal for one may not be normal for another., This has helped greatly with the premenopausal stage right now… and I can take supplements that I know my body specifically needs..

  4. I would add to the list of “Over 40” recommendations..take Vitamin D and add Apple Cider Vinegar to your diet (i.e, in your water, salad dressing, or supplements like Goli gummies).

  5. Yes, all great ideas. I struggle with regular daily exercise because of my chronic migraines I have dealt with over half my life. My goal is small and its to walk as many days a week as I can at least 30 min. I do need to add weights. I have multiply food allergies and so eating clean is how I have to live. I remember the days of eating M n’M’s too, but now its only snacks like the energy bites you shared. Even those I’d have to change up because of food allergies.

  6. Cyndi, I love the workout outfits. I am trying to look a part and a little put together when I workout. I’m hitting 60 in a couple months and hired a personal trainer to help me build some muscle.
What’s funny is I just made the energy balls last week….love them!!!
Thanks for all you help in makes us look and feel better!

  7. Thank you so much for posting these healthy tips for Women over 40! I am going to try the Hydration multiplier. Also, do you have any other tips for the liquid collagen maybe a more budget friendly option. Thank you again!!

  8. Thanks for the energy bite recipe. I relie on these or protein bite recipes for my sweet treat and it sure works. I joined FWTFL 3 years ago upon seeing how it worked for you. Still on it and love how it trims belly fat and builds muscle. It really works and has taught me so much about the right carb, protein and fat balance for eating.

  9. Great tips; however, we had to quit using Liquid IV when I realized how much sugar it contained. Do you meal prep? I struggle to come up with clean recipes to cook after getting home from work.
