Question & Answer – June 2022

Well, it’s been a while since I did a question & answer and I was recently asked these questions on Instagram. Since I had quite a few, I decided to put them in a blog post.

  • What do you use to apply self-tanner?

I have shared a post on self-tanner here. I don’t think a self-tanner will ever look as good as a tan, but it’s a good alternative that doesn’t cause wrinkles.

I have several different mitts that I’ve ordered from Amazon here and here.

I would like to have a self-tanner with good ingredients, which is not always easy to find. If you have any that you think are good, please let us know!

  • What foundation and color blush do you wear?

I use Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Flawless Oil-Free Foundation. This is a medium coverage, and it doesn’t look heavy on your face. I wear color 8 – tan, neutral.

I wear several blushes, including Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Collection in Sublime and Clinique Heather Pop.

  • Can you recommend a midrise skinny jean?

I haven’t been wearing skinny jeans lately, but these ‘Ab’Solution Ankle Skinny Jeans by Wit & Wisdom are a good option and reasonably priced.

  • What bronzer do you use on your face?

I use the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light. When I need some extra color, I apply it all over my face to get a sun-kissed look.

  • Christian book ideas for women?

I haven’t read many books lately, but some of my favorite authors are Jennie Allen, Lisa Whittle, Priscilla Shirer, and Christine Caine.

  • Which false eyelashes do you recommend?

I have tried so many eyelashes! There are a lot of good ones, but my favorite that I feel aren’t over the top but look like I have eyelashes are these Lily Lashes in Diamond. I also really like this glue.

  • How tall are you, and what size?

I’m 5’5″, and I typically wear a 4 or 6 in pants and an XS or a small in tops.

  • How do you control frizz in the summer?

Boy, frizz is a problem in Kentucky with our high humidity. I use Davines All in One Milk; it helps with frizz and is also a heat protectant.

I also like the Davines OI Shampoo and Conditioner.

  • How did you get started Blogging/Instagram? How do you get deals with brands?

I could write a whole blog post on this topic. because I get asked about this business and how to get started. I have sat down with at least a dozen women and tried to help them get started, and so far, none of them have done it.

Maybe I’m not a good teacher, but most have said they thought it looked easy and didn’t realize all that goes into this business.

If I can do it, anyone can do it, and I never want to discourage anyone from trying it, but it takes a lot of time, patience, and work to grow a business.

Very few start and have immediate success, and most don’t want to wait years before earning an income, so they quit.

When I started in 2009, there was very little information, but now there are plenty of courses and websites that can help you get started.

Once I grew my online audience, I was able to work with companies like Shopstyle and Rewardstyle, who work as the middle man to connect me with brands. They share brands who want to work with me, and I can decide if I think it’s a good fit. Then we sign a contract.

Now more than ever in this business, you have to have tough skin because there are a lot of people who are critical. It has gotten much worse in the last few years.

I didn’t start blogging years ago, thinking I would quit my job as a dental hygienist and share fashion & beauty. No one was making money when I started.

I really see God’s hand in how this all turned out, and I genuinely love my job, and I’m honored I get to talk and share life with so many women!

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart™But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LordJoshua 24:15

Truth: The Israelites had entered the promised land and Joshua gives them a farewell address. Joshua is a good leader, he leads by example, and he told the people that he and his household would  “serve the LORD.”

It has been said that a choice repeated becomes a habit, a habit develops your character, and your character determines your destiny. Joshua’s choices led to a destiny of faithful leadership and a family of faith.

We are faced with the same choices today; to serve the one true God or to serve the gods of the world. Choose wisely.

  1. Hi Cyndi,
Could you please share what color polish you use on your fingernails and toenails? I would be so appreciative!
Love you, your blog, your sweet family, and especially the fact that you love Jesus!❤️

  2. Cyndi, I have been working on, an affordable fashions for women over 50 blog for almost a year and a half, but haven’t gone live yet. My daughters keep telling me to stop procrastinating and just do it! So, I’m hoping to launch my blog by the end of June. I enjoy reading your blog every day. Thank you for being an inspiration to me!

  3. I’ve been reading your blog since the very beginning. I think the fact that you didn’t start doing it as a moneymaker is a big reason you’ve been so successful. You started out and your genuineness and winsomeness just shone through. People were drawn to you, and it just kept growing. Had you started out wanting to be an instant success, I’m not sure you’d be where you are today. It’s obvious God has had His hand on this the whole time. Wishing you many more years of happy blogging. You’re one of the few bloggers I read anymore.

  4. Cyndi, a wonderful and informative post. I’m so glad I’ve found you. Thank you for all you do!

  5. Thanks for taking the time to do a Q & A. Such a blessing you were able to have Colt with you in your RV. He must be out for the Summer already. Our kids in our area are out today.

  6. Cyndi, thank you for sharing how you got started. I love your blog. I am sure God’s hand was and still is in your blog. What an amazing opportunity to share your faith! I am older than you, 62, but I like your style. A while back, you shared two tops that I had ordered from Old Navy. I got a chuckle out of that. Blessings to you and yours ♥️
