5 Ways to Transition your Wardrobe from Summer to Fall

Hi ladies! While fall doesn’t officially arrive until September, I like to start transitioning my wardrobe to some fall pieces. I’m sharing 5 Ways to Transition your Wardrobe from Summer to Fall, and some of these will work, even if your weather is still hot.

Here are 5 Ways to Transition your Wardrobe from Summer to Fall

• Wear Fall Tones

This is an easy one! What better way to channel the new season than with an autumnal color palette? Don’t avoid bringing the fall tones into your everyday summer-to-fall transitional outfits.

Sleeveless autumnal colors are the perfect solution if your weather is still hot.

Waffle Knit Top (S) • Straight Denim (28) • Booties (size up 1/2 size) • NecklaceEarrings • Belt (similar option here)

• Wear A Blazer

I love adding a blazer to my outfits, especially when wearing a sleeveless blouse. Blazers are a great transitional piece.

Blazer (S, latte color, cyndi10 for 10% off) • Straight Denim (28) •  Flutter Sleeve Top (S) • EarringsDouble Strap Heel (TTS)

• Wear A Cropped Cardigan

Cropped cardigans are in style whether you wear them with a top or wear it alone, buttoned up.

Crop Cardigan (S) • Crop Camisole (S) • Straight Denim (28) • Mules (TTS) • NecklaceEarrings • Belt (similar option here)

• Wear Mules and loafers

As fall approaches, I like to wear loafers and mules before I bring out my fall booties. This year’s loafers have a chunkier sole.

Smocked Gauze Top (S) • Crop Camisole (S) • Straight Denim (28) • Booties (size up 1/2 size) • NecklaceEarrings • Belt • Pointed Toe Mules (sized up 1/2 size)

 • Switch Up Your Accessories

Refresh your accessories for a budget-friendly way of marking a change in the seasons. This can be as simple as switching your summery woven bag for a leather tote.

I typically put away my rattan earrings and go for something I can wear for fall and winter. These natural stone earrings from Evereve are so pretty!

It’s hard to believe it’s almost September. How do you transition your Wardrobe from Summer to Fall?

  1. Cyndi, I love that blazer, do you recommend this color for fall and winter? If I were to choose one color besides black, I would prefer it to be something I could wear for all seasons I live in the north east part of the country where we get all four seasons in full force lol. Thank you

  2. I wish you would write a post about all the places people suggested you visit while in Maine. I am starting to plan a visit there as well. 😊

  3. Is anyone else frustrated with all the ads popping up on the website and comment area? Is very hard to read or concentrate at anything with things popping up and moving around.

I love these posts, but many times I give up because of all the shifting around! XOXO

  4. I’ve been having some of the more straight denim coming in the mail to try and I still find the problem the shoes/boots to wear. You seem to do high heeled boots and for just casual days, I don’t like to wear heels. I wear them going out or church. So, I was wondering if you could do a post of footwear to wear with the new style jeans once the weather turns bad enough we can’t do sandals, mules and clogs, white sneakers with bare feet. These 4 all go well with the new styles but my booties in my closet just don’t, as they hit the top at the wrong place or look funny when the pant goes over the bootie. Am I the only one finding shoe choses hard. I love the suede but living in the PNW, once Fall hits its too rainy and wet to wear suede and then your jeans dye on the suede and ruins the bootie, so I try to tell myself that when I’m tempted to go suede that I love. Do you wear your suede in the Winter? Have a great trip. So fun to have this to look forward to. Yes, going in a RV, its nice to have clothing choices. For me its shoe choices. I tend to overpack when taking shoes. 🙂

    1. Kathy, you’re not the only one. I have not stopped wearing straight legs even though I had skinny pants and jeans. I wore my straights with low heel booties that end low. If I am going to church or just dinner, I will wear a high heel slingback or pump. I have one pair of straight leg pants that I find very hard to style in the winter. I wear them in fall so I can still wear high heel sandals. In Texas our fall is still hot or maybe not as hot as summer. The good thing about flares bootcut and wide leg you can wear any shoe even ugly ones since they can’t be seen as well.

      1. Terri…… Good to know that I’m not the only one. I’m just not seeing anyone styling low heel boots with new style jeans, so wondering, come Winter, what everyone is going to switch to. 🙂

  5. Glad I purchased those plaid mules, as I think they will be great going into fall.
Sometime also I signed up to receive your new inspirational blog posts and so far I’ve only received some emails to purchase some products. Did you put this aside or maybe I’m just not receiving the emails anymore?

    1. Gloria I have sent out other emails when I write a post. I’ve not been writing as much this summer but hoping to get back on a regular schedule this fall.

  6. Hi Cyndi- the links to the loafers do not work for me. I would love to see them because I cannot wear heels at all.

Hope you all have a wonderful getaway-can’t wait to see pics!

  7. Transition pieces are something I’ve added to my wardrobe over the years! And yes layering in the North is key!!! Living in Canada we can often go from summer to winter with very little fall or have a beautiful crisp fall with the cooler mornings and evenings! Either way our leaves are gorgeous as they change!! The longer our nice weather stays the shorter our winters! We pretty much have to be ready for whatever comes our way …
The crop camisoles you’re wearing do they come to the waist?
Thanks and have a wonderful trip!

  8. Wishing you a safe getaway! Enjoy the experiences of God’s glorious creation & just relax & have fun! God bless!

      1. I find living in hot, humid Houston (area) makes it hard to transition to fall. Our fall happens around December, if we’re lucky enough to have one. I’ve purchased a T-Shirt dress in a fall color, some olive shorts, and an eggplant T-shirt. I plan on picking up a lightweight neutral cropped cardi and a light sweater vest to layer over blacks, browns, olives, etc. And I’ll pull out my mules. That’s the best I can do when it will most likely still be in the 90’s in Sept. and Oct!
        Have a great trip!
