How to Stay Healthy During the Holiday Season

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it’s easy to let our health go by the wayside. The combination of cold weather, a packed social calendar, unhealthy holiday foods, and the season’s stress leaves many of us feeling overwhelmed and unhealthy once January rolls around. This is why prioritizing our health to help us stay healthy during the Holiday season is important for our bodies and minds.

I’m all about baby steps, and starting with one thing that enables you to feel better, there is no need to wait until January.

How to Stay Healthy During the Holiday Season

One of the ways I track my fitness is with my Oura ring. I have talked about the Oura Ring before and still love it. The ring has an app that is free for the first month, and then it’s 5.99 a month.

Here is what the Oura ring tracks:

  • Sleep (Daily Sleep Score, Bedtime Guidance, Blood Oxygen (SpO2) Sensing)
  • Early Illness Detection (Sudden shifts in skin temperature and HRV, Personalized Rest and Recovery Insights)
  • Activity & Recovery (Daily Activity Tracking and Scores, Readiness Score, Calorie Opt-out)
  • Heart Health (24/7 Heart Rate Monitoring, Heart Rate Variability)
  • Stress (Daytime Stress. )Stress Resilience

Supplements:

AG1 by Athletic Greens is power-packed with 75 high-quality vitamins, minerals, and whole-food sourced nutrients to support optimal brain, body, and gut health.

Armra– This is something new I’ve added to my supplements in the last couple of months. I heard Dr. Sarah Rahal on a podcast and was impressed with her research and the product. Armra is colostrum, and you can read more about it here.

I also take Vitamin D and extra Magnesium.

Tips to Stay Healthy

  • Exercise is just as important for your mental well-being and is a fantastic stress reliever, so try to get your body moving daily. I strength train 3 times a week. There are so many benefits to strength training as we age.

  • Don’t forget to stay hydrated! During this time of year, we get so busy that we forget to drink enough water. Consuming plenty of water helps to boost brain function, aids in hydration, and maintains healthy skin. I add Re-Lyte Hydration to my water several times a day.
  • I try to eat between 75 to 100 grams of protein daily paired with vegetables, which helps keep me energized and feeling full throughout the day. I also intermittently fast on most days.
  • A good night’s rest is crucial for your overall health. It’s important to allow your body to rest and recover. I am passionate about this one. I use the Oura ring to track my sleep progress; it’s crucial for feeling our best.

I love this time of year and want to enjoy the holiday season, but I also want to continue to prioritize my health. It’s all about balance!

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

Beauty for the Heart™For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 1 Timothy 4:8

Truth: Godliness is more important than physical fitness because of its eternal value. Physical fitness is a good thing. At the very least, it means caring for the body God gave us. But physical fitness only benefits us while we have this physical body. On the other hand, spiritual growth impacts eternity.

  1. Cyndi,

I love following your content, from your fashion to your faith! I am interested in which of the colostrum you take? And why? How you would choose.

    Thanks!
    Angie

  2. I’m impressed with your blog and lifestyle. I too do a high protein diet. What kind of food are you eating to get 75 to 100 grams of protein each day?
    Hugs!

  3. Physical exercise is very important. I’m near 70 and I’ve been exercising for almost 40 years. Diet is important too. I buy mostly non GMO. I started taking Perfect Amino powder. My doctor recommended it. Body Health is the website that tells you all about it. She also said too much vitamin D will deplete your vitamin A. She recommended sunshine for 20 minutes a day. The next best thing is cod liver oil. I haven’t tried it yet but I have lowered my vitamin D supplement intake because I was taking a lot.

  4. Be careful with adding Re-lyte hydration several times a day – it if full of sodium. My Doctor says many people are getting too much sodium with these supplements.

  5. Cyndi, thanks for this important content. May I ask what time of day you take the magnesium? I’m trying to figure out my routine as well. Thanks.

  6. How do you like the AG1, and how does it taste? I’m thinking of trying it but wondered if it is gritty or has a strong flavor? Thanks.

  7. I recently was introduced to Young Living and specifically their NingXia Red which is string antioxidant it is supposed to increase energy and improve sleep and reduce stress. It tastes great and they have a 14 day reset challenge in their Facebook group which incorporates using the product along with a clean eating plan of your choice. I attached the link if you want to look into it. https://www.youngliving.com/us/en/referral/37916542

    1. Lisa, My friend and my daughter both sell Young Living and they both drink this, but I found it was VERY expense if you weren’t into Young Living and getting points toward it etc. so, I don’t drink it, but have heard great things about it.

  8. I have an holistic nutritionist who I meet with. She does specific testing on me as to what my body needs and can easily take as we all don’t need the same things and aren’t a cookie cutter scenario.
I had incorporated weights into my workout but it sometimes flare up my neck so I switch it up with resistance bands! They were a great addition to my workout as I was focusing on cardio too much!
    Thanks for a healthy encouragement💕

great addition as I was focusing too much on just cardio!
