Beauty For the Heart™Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Philippians 2:3

Truth: To be selfish is to care only for oneself or one’s own interests, and it’s completely opposite of what we are to be as believers. We must lay aside selfishness and treat others with respect and common courtesy. Considering others’ interests as more important than our own links us with Christ.

As you go about your day, look for ways to help the people around you, whether it’s your family or a complete stranger.

  1. Was wondering were you got the nude flip flops in the picture with the baseball cap? Love your style!!

  2. I love the way you put everything together. I need to update my summer wardrobe. Thanks for all these suggestions. Also congratulations on finding a new place before putting your current home for sale. That is so awesome!
We have a big house too and have been empty nesters for now 3 years. Good for you!

  3. I stop wearing jeans in the summer, even white ones. It’s just too darn humid and hot here in southeast Texas. So, I live in shorts, summer skirts, and sundresses, with cute sandals or my white tennis shoes. I also discovered skorts last year and have several in basic colors. Great for running errands in. While I’m not crazy about my older woman arms, my tops are generally sleeveless, except for church. And, like the others mentioned, I have either a white or blue denim jacket with me for those places that want to freeze you in the summer(!).

  4. To Jeanne, I’ve always relied on Eddie Bauer and Land’s End for quick dry shorts. They’re amazing , I have gone swimming in them and once out of the water and walking around they dry quickly . They are also totally appropriate to wear from beach/pool to running errands in town. I highly recommend!

    1. I wished so much I could wear those & Chaco’s. They kill my feet and arches of my feet. My son says they do the same to his feet. I think they are such perfect athletic sandals.

  5. My summer staples are cotton gauze tops, linen wide leg pants, cotton chino pants, cotton t-shirts, bermuda shorts,a jean jacket or cotton jacket and sandals. Yesterday I bought an unlined linen blazer. At home I just wear loose cotton knit shorts and tank tops. It’s harder to know what to wear as I get older since I don’t like showing my arms in public. Once it’s above 90 I can’t wear anything too form fitting during the heat of the day. No jeans or closed up shoes.

I bought the nude heels you’re wearing with the dress. I tried them on in the store. They are really comfortable and cute.

  6. Great list, I would add one more thing, a lightweight denim jacket. It comes in handy if it gets cool in the evening, or I go inside somewhere that has the AC too low or blowing on me. The good thing about denim is it doesn’t show dirt!

  7. I would add a pair of flowy light weight linen pants. I have two pair I bought from Old Navy 2 yrs. ago and they don’t wrinkle and still look new. I’m only 5’3″ and they are the perfect length too which is hard to find. Usually they are too long and dumpy looking. I have all the other items you posted, but a staw hat/baseball cap. I look terrible in hats with short hair.

  8. Hi Cyndi,

Love what you’ve shared with us! The only other thing I can think of is a Jean jacket, yes wven I’m the summer!😆 we are camping now and will head to Indiana to see our grandchildren!🎉🎉
    Have a safe holiday!!

  9. Love your summer staples. I think all of those are a must have and I would add a comfy tank & denim jacket for when the weather is really hot and the stores & restaurants are really cool.

  10. My favs all summer are:
    Blue denim shorts
    White denim shorts
White t-shirt material peasant style blouses
    Cute tops – small prints
    Sandals
    White Sketchers sneakers

  11. So I know you mentioned going on camping trips. We camp also and have traveled all over the US. Because we have so much room to pack, I generally over pack. Lol. Any tips on stream lining clothing wardrobe and shoes. My hubby doesn’t mind, but it’s a lot of trips to put in camper

    1. Cyndi Anderson…….I’m the same way. I don’t know how to pack light. I have to have lots of shoes no matter where we are going. LOL I think if this is how you are, its just hard to change. 🙂
