I thought it would be fun to look at some fall trends. We still have plenty of summer left, but I love to see what’s coming in fashion trends for the next season. It can be a bit overwhelming when it’s time to start transitioning between seasons, but no worries, I got you covered! So many different trends are circling at the moment, but I picked 10 Fall Fashion Trends 2023.
I picked the trends that I love and think women over 40 and 50 will look and feel their best in. There are lots of trends to pick from, so choose the items you feel best in. That’s all that truly matters!
Fall Fashion Trends Fall 2023
1. Ripped Ex-Boyfriend Jeans • I love the look and feel of these jeans. They can be leveled up for a more professional look or dressed down for a casual day of errands. I love pairing these with an oversized turtle neck sweater and flat mule shoes.
2. Pointed Toe Loafers / Mules Shoes • These are stylish and comfortable. Perfect for a more professional work outfit while saving your feet from heels for the day.
3. Casual Tracksuit Lounge Sets • These knit sweaters and tracksuit sets have been taking off these past few months. Again, this outfit can be dressed up or down, depending on the day. I love styling this set with the mule shoes above for a cute, chic look.
4. Plaid Button Down Jackets • Plaid has always been an awesome fall staple piece, and this oversized jacket has every neutral color, making it easy to pair with almost anything!
5. Heeled Knee-High Boots • I love that these knee-high boots are trending for fall and winter. They are cute, warm, and comfortable. I love pairing these with a satin midi skirt.
6. Satin Midi Skirts • I’ve been seeing a lot of these satin midi skirts going viral, and I think they are perfect for the fall months. It gives an elegant look to an otherwise easy everyday outfit. I’m all about staying warm and comfortable in the fall, and this midi skirt is about as easy as it gets!
7. Loose V-Neck Sweaters • These V-Neck sweater tops are the perfect combination of fall trends. We all love those oversized sweaters. The ones that feel like you’re being hugged by your favorite blanket all day.
8. Lapel Midi Jackets / Midi Trench Coats • I don’t know about you all, but I LOVE a good trench coat moment. So fashionable and thick enough to keep you warm!
9. Vintage Leather Pouch Handbags • I lean more towards bigger purses, but this little handbag is adorable and unique. I’ve been noticing these on a lot of different platforms for upcoming fashion trends, and I think it’s the perfect purse for small items: a phone, wallet, lipstick, etc.
10. Oversized Turtleneck Sweaters • Turtlenecks have not been my favorite in the past because of how tight and itchy they are around my neck. But these oversized sweaters give me no issues and ample room to breathe. I love pairing this with little booties and boyfriend jeans for a more casual look.

Beauty For the Heart™– Her mouth is full of wisdom; kindly teaching is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:26
This verse describes a woman who is wise and kind in her speech. She knows how to use her words to build up and encourage others, rather than tear them down.
More than ever, we need to be women who speak wisely, choose our words carefully, and consider the impact they will have on others. Kindness is not always a natural inclination, especially when someone is not being kind to us, but it’s something that we need to deliberately cultivate.
Wisdom means we’ve learned to speak kindly, even when it is difficult.

I am 5’2″ and always looking for crop V neck sweaters, Timeless clothing. Since may retailers have closed, it is ever more important to find petite clothing.
Ooooh! I really like it all, Autumn is one of my favorite seasons, kinda hard to be thinking Autumn here in Arizona haha!! But I really do like that plaid Jacket and the pockets. I use to have one; Once Upon At Time. I wore it with leggings or jeans~.~and thought it looked nice. Thank You for helping me think ahead.
All the baggy, oversized stuff looks terrible on me! Hopefully some other styles will be coming out this fall too that are a little more tailored
I have a lot of these. Seems like things we saw last year. I have the oversized cowlneck sweater. It’s so comfy for hanging out when it’s chilly. I agree with you, the tight turtlenecks just aren’t comfortable. It’s hard to think Fall right now when I’m trying to savor Summer, but I do love Fall.
Hi Cyndi, I would love to find a pair of knee high boots in the same color and material as the ones you feature but with a lower heel. The small bags are very cute and I could use a new one for lunches out with friends. Also love the satin midi skirt! As your other followers are wondering, exactly how to style the skirts.Possibly you could do a post in the future for us on how to style them? Many thanks on all you do.
Yes that’s a great idea!
I only like Vneck sweaters, tall boots and trench coats. I already have them. When are ripped jeans going out of style? I can’t stand them. Maybe cause I grew up very poor and my mother patched ripped jeans. Most of these items seem like they have been in style forever. I’m happy with what I bought last year. It’s fun to read fashion blogs for styling ideas.
I notice how so many of these items look like things I wore years ago, and that trends are recurring as these are now classics! The plaid jacket is very like the plaid CPO jacket I wore in junior high (1969-71) and I saw a lot of these last fall, but I think I may purchase one this fall.
Also the loose turtleneck (almost a cowl neck) and v-neck sweaters remind me of pieces I loved and wore in the past, but look perfect for my lifestyle now. The boyfriend jeans’ cut is one I like, too.
I love that satin midi skirt! But it seems to me that any little bump or lump underneath would show. I”m interested to know what you would wear with that.
I also love the name, “ex-boyfriend” jeans! So fun!
Are the trench coats made to be rain coats or are they more nubby like a regular jacket? I do love that shape.
Thanks! And congrats on your new house!
I styled it here and I was probably wearing my spanx
