Fall Denim Trends 2023

Happy Monday, ladies! I’ve been sharing fall trends this month, and today I’m talking about fall denim trends. Denim trends have changed a lot over the last few years. We’re veering away from the skinny jean and leaning toward more relaxed fit jeans.

My personal favorite is the slim straight or straight jeans. They’re the most versatile and pair well with fitted or loose tops and sweaters. You can wear them with flats, sneakers, booties, or heels.

Fall Denim Trends 2023

1. Cargo Jeans

Cargo Jeans typically have baggy legs, long hems, and lots of pocket space. These are trending for fall 2023, and some versions aren’t as baggy, which are a better option for women over 40. Of course, if you love the baggy look, by all means, wear them and have fun.

These jeans pair best with cropped tops/sweaters (you don’t have to show your stomach) and fitted tops.

2. Barrel Jeans

Barrel jeans are loose-fitting through the hips and thighs, then taper at the ankles. They are a looser-fitting alternative to straight leg jeans.

Since barrel jeans are wider through the thigh and crop at the ankle, you should try a top option that is more fitted.

3. Straight Leg Jeans

Straight leg jeans are a classic and versatile style. They are characterized by a streamline from the hip to the ankle.

You can pair these jeans with a variety of tops and sweaters, from fitted to looser styles.

4. Flare Jeans

Flare jeans have a wider leg that flares out from the knee. Flare jeans help elongate the legs and create a more balanced silhouette.

These jeans pair well with tailored tops, tucked-in blouses, and cropped sweaters.

5. Wide Leg Jeans

Wide leg jeans are a relaxed, comfortable style with a wide, straight leg from the thigh to the hem. They are a popular choice for women of all ages and body types.

These jeans pair well with a more fitted top to create a nice contrast and help define the waist area.

6. Patch Pockets

Patch pocket jeans are a trend I love, and I’m excited to wear them this fall! I have these patch pocket jeans from LOFT, and I love the dark denim.

Honorable Mentions: Maxi and midi denim skirts are trending for fall. I’m still on the fence with these skirts, but I’m looking for an option I like. You’ll also see split hemlines and darker denim this fall.

What do you think about the fall denim trends? Which is your favorite?

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart™The Lord has brought her grief because of her many sins. Lamentations 1:5

Truth: Jeremiah was a prophet during this time. He wept over the consequences of Judah’s sin and suffering. He longed for them to repent so that God would restore them.

Like the Israelites, we, too, sin and need to repent. But how often do we weep over our sins? While sin brings regret and consequences, God will forgive and restore us.

  1. I have purchased straight leg jeans and flares, which I love. Probably won’t buy cargo jeans or anything to baggy. They just don’t work for my 5 ft 4 in frame.

  2. LOVE denim…. but I just can’t seem to get on the bandwagon of the barrel, or cargo denim. Flares are iffy for me too! 😀 I do love the wide leg, and the straight leg and will always keep a pair of skinny’s in my wardrobe! I think body shape makes a big difference in which of these looks right on us.

Hope you all are enjoying your new home more and more each day!

    Blessings,

  3. You look nice in the flare jeans in the email photo. I like the new trends. I jumped on the bandwagon of flares, bootleg and wide leg early. Probably because I never liked skinny jeans or pants. I like cargos and barrel in pants but not in jeans. I will wear straight leg or slim leg which are classic. I bought the Loft jeans with the front pockets so 70s. They make my short legs look long. I’m 5’2 and petite with an hourglass body shape. It’s about the right proportion with clothes for me. I haven’t wore jeans all summer so looking forward to fall. There’s no hope for cooler temperatures soon though.

  4. It is great that we can wear the styles that we prefer, especially if we pair them with pieces that are on trend. I prefer straight, flare, and wide legged jeans that are high waisted. This 66 year old body does not need to wear mid or low rise bottoms.

  5. As you’ve shown us in the past, it’s great we can all choose styles we feel good in. I have thin legs and love skinny jeans. I also like a skinny legged jean with flared bottom for a slightly different look. Baggy jeans don’t work for my body, but love the look on others. Fashion should be fun, and I appreciate you showing us so many options! Thanks for all you do!

    1. Hey Lyna I can reply to your question it is gold version. I have several pieces from the maker. The company is Susan Shaw. I hope that helps.

  6. I don’t like any of the trends to be honest. I tried on Levi’s straight leg and they looked weird. Very fitted on the top half, but loose from the knee down.

  7. My favorite are flare jeans. I have summer clogs that are comfortable. I’m not fond of the jean cargo pants. Id like to see you style them. Old Navy showed a pair of cargo pants, not denim, that were cinched at the ankle. They looked cute.

  8. I’ve been wearing the straight crop that aren’t too loose. I haven’t ventured into the bootcut or wide leg due to a heel needed and I don’t like to run around casual in heels much these days. I feel frumpy in bootcut or wide leg with low heels, especially a sneaker. I would love to see a post with the slim straight you like with casual low booties that look good for Winter and not the dressy pointed toe styles. I don’t wear my skinnies anymore, but come Fall and Winter they sure were easy to go with any shoe pairing. My favorite trend is the patch pocket jeans. I love my patch pocket denim shorts I bought from Evereve. I grab them all the time. It’s suppose to cool down here, but it’s been smokey from the fires up North in Canada. I don’t like to be outside in it.

    1. Hi Jean, from my understanding a flare jean is wider than a boot cut jean. I own both and I do see a difference. I find the bootcut to be more flattering on me since I’m petite at 5’3”. Hope this helps.

  9. Love all the different options we have in jeans now. Straight and slim are my favorite. Love that sleeveless sweater you have on. Can you tell me where I can find the link to that pretty necklace you are wearing. Thanks Cyndi

  10. Love them all and love how you’re giving us all peeks into what will be trending this fall! Helps me so much! That said….no, no, no to the barrel leg jeans!!! Did that in the 90’s and it’s done! Never again. I almost got sick when I saw that one😂😂😂.

  11. I love all the jeans styles you shared today except the cargo and barrel styles. I have never liked cargo pants/jeans. They are too messy or casual for me.
