Everyday Skincare & Makeup

One of my best tips for looking your best is to prioritize skincare. Staying consistent with cleaning your skin, using hydrating products/serums, and moisturizing will change your overall appearance. Dry brushing is excellent for preventing cellulite and exfoliating skin, followed by a nice hydrating lotion that will leave your skin glowing!

As far as your makeup goes, a quick and simple routine can consist of primer, foundation or tinted moisturizer, concealer, some blush, and bronzer, topped with a layer of mascara. A great way to look bronzed and glowy in one step is with the glow lotion; mix a small amount with your moisturizer, set it with some finishing powder, add some lip balm, and you’re all set.

Everyday Health & Wellness

Looking good on the outside starts with feeling good on the inside. My favorite way to keep myself healthy is by taking vitamins and staying hydrated every day. These are a few of my favorites I’ve been using for a while now, and I’ve seen noticeable differences in my overall health.

Exercise is another essential way to keep up your health game. With the cold front hitting this week, getting your body moving can be especially hard, but it’s important to still move your body. It can be as little as walking up and down the stairs a few times or around the house. I usually walk to my mailbox and back (since it’s a little far from our house). A great way to easily track your steps and stay in shape is with a Fitbit!

Everyday Outfit Inspo

Getting all glammed up is unrealistic for most of us daily, but there are ways to look good without going all out. All it takes is a simple lounge set, your favorite pair of sneakers, and a few statement accessories. This black lounge set is perfect for running errands or any daily tasks you need to tackle. Adding a chunky pair of earrings will immediately elevate any look.

Throw on a trendy pair of sunglasses and comfortable sneakers, and you’re ready to tackle the day in style.

Beauty For the Heart™He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—he remains faithful forever. Psalm 146:6

Truth: It’s not hard to see God’s beauty when you’re walking along the beach. Psalm 146 says that not only did he create the sea, but creation reminds us of His faithfulness.

When we see the sunrise or the sunset, freshly fallen snow, flowers blooming, or trees budding again after a long winter, God is reminding us that He is faithful and He deserves all the glory and praise.

Let your beauty shine from the inside out today!

  1. When my (now adult) children were young, I “dressed” and made up every morning, because who wants to run into the school to sign in their child that missed the bus while wearing their pjs and robe, looking like they just tumbled out of bed? (True story that happened to a friend of mine.) At 67, I still dress every day in some form or fashion, mostly in matching or coordinating sets. If I have to go out with only a few minutes notice, I’ll often choose between really fixing my hair and no makeup OR going with so-so hair and a quick-but-done face.

Thanks for the tip about the cotton ball and bottled water for making sure all of the makeup is gone!

  2. I”m like you. I get up and get dressed with makeup and hair brushed into some order or perfect disarray! Even if I go to gym I will add tinted moisturizer and eye makeup , blush and lip stain like Clinique Black Honey. Then when I get back , wash it off and do skincare and a light makeup like EL futurist. I have alot of jeans and ponte pants for winter depending on mood. I was raised also to take off church clothes when I got home and put them back on that night going to church again. My mom did a great job of teaching me to care of my stuff because she didn’t have the luxury of having what I had. Im still like that BUT I don’t wear anything that I don’t like or isn’t me , shredded unless those crazy jeans we have all worn. I’m like you and want to be ready if someone calls and we do lunch or run to appt or even the store. I do it for myself. It makes me feel better.

  3. Good tips that I do. All except dressing in nice lounge wear and earrings at home. If it’s cold I keep the thermostat at 68 so I am freezing. I wear leggings under my sweat pants and warm hoodies. I really don’t care how I look as long as I am warm. Now going out is another thing. I think it’s a culture thing about only dressing up when leaving the house. When I was growing up our nice clothes were for church and going out. Our at home clothes were clothes with stains but still functional. We didn’t have to be careful with them. That mentality has stayed with me.

  4. Just received the white bow tie blouse from Kohl’s. Love it. Can’t wait to see how you style it. Small fits me good.

  5. I love the glow lotion. It is perfect when I don’t want to put on makeup (which I only wear occasionally). I keep meaning to try dry brushing. I think I will start now. I have a few other items you have here. Great suggestions.
I mostly hang out at home (retired), so I live in workout clothes. I make sure to exercise daily (yoga, HIIT, weights, core). With baking (or donation and for us), gardening, working out, etc., this works best for me.
I am learning so much from you (and the other bloggers I follow – most of whom you know and have met up with. Love seeing when you meet up.) Never too late to learn about our bodies and skin care (late to the game on this one.)
    Have a wonderful trip!

  6. When I was a young bride, an older woman at my church gave me some great advice. She said no matter how I look during the day, when my husband Robby walked in the door from work always look nice. Put on a clean shirt and a little bit of makeup. I’ve followed her advice all these 41 years of marriage.

  7. I cleanse my face in the morning before applying moisturizer, do not apply mascara but sometimes apply eyebrow pencil (as eyebrows are very sparse). Brush my hair and add hair band. I dress in joggers or leggings with a nice top. Feel ready for the day if only staying at home! Appreciate all your tips about dressing, makeup and skincare. Especially love Beauty for the Heart each day.

  8. Hope you have a wonderful vacation in sunny weather!

Do you use the boar bristle brush gently on your face? I have a couple of dry areas that could benefit, I think. My 76 year old skin is thin and fragile.

  9. I’m the same way. Always have been. I feel better when I get ready. I do make up daily. The only time I skipped make up was during Covid some days as I wasn’t going anywhere at the beginning but I soon found out I didn’t feel good and needed to get ready. I don’t do make up when sick.
Safe travels and enjoy your trip. Hope you share your outfits and trip updates but understand if you take the time off blogging.

  10. I love your comments about getting ready and working from home. It has always amazed everyone that I get dressed and do my makeup every day. My usual work from home outfit is jeans and a sweater also. I don’t feel productive if I don’t “get ready”.

  11. Great post! I just added lounge set to cart. I added small size but do you recommend sizing up for oversized look?

Also the gold bangels from yesterday’s post (they looked fabulous with your outfits)
Are these easy to wear/comfortable for all day wear?
What size did you get? I think i could do small but would you recommend sizing up for extra room or to make them easier to get on.

  12. I’ve found that leaving the house every day inspires me to up my game and be more “put together” in general…even if it’s just leggings and a cute tunic and the bare-minimum makeup and I’m just driving a couple miles to the store. It’s sad how many women seem to have just “given up”. Whenever I say that women yell at me and say some BS about “not catering to the male gaze” (whatever), but I really do think we need to look good to feel good about ourselves.

Years ago I worked in a “casual” workplace and we all came to work in shorts and tshirts and NGL, we all looked terrible. Our work product was also terrible. When I decided to start “dressing up” again and putting some effort into myself, I felt SO much better and more professional and more productive. I’m a homemaker now, and while I don’t get dressed to the nines every day, it really does help.

I do wish I could wear just mascara only on my eyes…my face just looks incomplete without some sort of eyeshadow and a little liner! 🙂 All or nothing for me, apparently!

    Have a blessed Wednesday!

  13. Good morning Cyndi 😇 I’m glad you’re packed and ready for your trip !! God is good !
I do the same routine with my skincare, makeup removed at night, and if I don’t wear any I still remove anything that might’ve gotten caught during the day . Have a safe flight, forget this cold weather 😂and both of you Enjoy your cruise 🚢🙏🏻🙏🏻😇
    Blessings 🙏🏻

    1. I can’t believe that for DECADES I didn’t take all my makeup off and wash my face before I went to bed. Looking back my mom didn’t either, so I didn’t pick up the habit when I was young. Now though, even if I haven’t put anything on my face other than sunscreen I have to wash my face or else i feel grimy when I get to bed. Same thing happened with flossing my teeth, lol.

      1. Stacy I’ve heard a lot of women say this so you’re not alone! But now we know so we’ve got to make sure we have a clean face and of course clean teeth.
