Winter Workwear Outfits

Happy February 1st! I’m kicking off the month with some workwear outfits you can mix and match with pieces in your wardrobe.

I found three pairs of pants that I like, and I feel I would be an option for work. I think a pointed-toe heel works best with wide-leg trousers, even if it’s a kitten heel. If I wear flats with trousers, I feel frumpy.

For size reference, I’m 5’5″. I usually wear an XS or Small in tops and a 4 or 6 in pants.

Since our weather has been cloudy and dreary, I thought this sweater would brighten things up! I styled it with corduroy pants from Loft. The pants come in several colors; I’m wearing the mercury gray.

I love this feminine white blouse from J.Crew, and I paired it with wide-leg pants from Macy’s. The pants run big, so I sized down.

Cropped Shirt with Pearl Buttons (small, 30% off) | Wide Leg Pants (XS) |Earrings | Black Heel

I loved the pearl buttons on this cardigan and styled it with the corduroy pants.

Next, I’m wearing a sweater with another pair of wide-leg pants from Macy’s. I ordered a 4 regular in these pants, and I wish they were about an inch longer. I like to wear heels with wide-leg trousers, and these are almost too short.

Sweater (small) | Wide Leg Pant (4) | Slingback Pumps | Necklace | Belt | Earrings

Lastly, I styled the black pants with a white bow blouse.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart™Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put large amounts. Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. Mark 12:41-42

Truth: I’ve read the above scripture many times, but the first part of verse 41 stood out to me. It says Jesus watched while the people gave their money.

It’s interesting to me that Jesus watched. Jesus not only saw their gift but also their heart, and He sees ours, too. May our hearts be filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

  1. Hi Cyndi, As cute as you look in those work wear outfits, I’m not a fan of the wide legged slacks. Not on me. A wide leg draws the eye to the whole body and makes it look shorter then it is. I’m only 5’5” and I don’t want to look shorter. That’s my main reason for not wearing wide legged pants. I do however, wear the boot cut jeans only with my cowgirl boots. 😃 and I agree with dressing nice and fun not frumpy to work.

    1. Totally agree with these comments…wide legs better on taller frames! It does help to wear a fitted top with the wide legs and also a heeled shoe.

  2. I so agree about how casual we have become. The worst place is an airport! When I was growing up, we wore our Sunday best to fly…now you see women wearing sports bras as shirts! I love to be comfortable, but I want to look polished and appropriate at the same time.

  3. Hi Cindy,
    Blessings 🙏🏽
I love dress pant, I feel funny when when I wear them☺️.
Thank you for sharing, you do a wonderful job👏

  4. I agree wholeheartedly, I think we should dress as nice as we can and so tired of seeing people wear pj’s outside of the home.

  5. I bought a pair of black dress pants after Christmas with a wide leg! So this post is helpful! I too was finding dress pants to be frumpy but there’s something fun about the wide leg! On that topic could you possibly style a linen wide leg pant? I see the other influencers showing them a lot so I’m thinking they are back in for the spring and summer!

  6. Hi Cyndi!! Happy February ♥️to you and your precious family!!
I Love the Grey sweater w pearl buttons on you 😍I think it’s lovely !!
    Have a Blessed Day .

P.S. I’m not into the wide pants thing 😜

  7. I would feel too frumpy in that wide of leg with my height. I agree, people have gotten too casual when it’s appropriate to dress up more. I find myself dressing down at times knowing if I don’t I’ll look out of place. I live in a small town and it’s worse here. I think Covid made things worse. People got use to dressing to stay home full time and now many work remote and only dress upper half. lol. I have the silver loafers you are styling and love them. Please style them more. I’d love to see options how to dress them up and down. I am thinking light wash straight crop with white cotton blouse. They are sooooo comfortable and true to size. I always wear size 7 and ordered size 7 for anyone wondering. There is mixed reviews.

  8. Agree with everything you have said! We’ve definitely become casual in all aspects of life. Like you, I’ve enjoy “dressing up”! And, my opinion as well better to be overdressed than underdressed!

  9. I agree about dressing appropriately. I rather be overdressed than underdressed too. The older I get I feel more frumpy in dresses than pants. Maybe because I have short legs and can’t wear shorter dresses anymore. I like both pants you’ve styled. The black wide leg ones look better with the white shirts. In my opinion the burgundy sweater has too much bulk to wear with wide leg pants. I like to wear my wide legs with a more fitted top or sweater.

  10. My daughter is getting married in June at 3:00 and need a MOB dress. In Florida and need ideas. I love your style and would really love a post about MOB dresses.

  11. What I find sad is in the South people are very causally dressed everywhere we go. I’m originally from the North and dressed up for most things. With that said, I’m not a fan of the black pants. I’m shorter and heavier than you are and think they would make be look real stumpy!🫣
Have a great start to a new month!!

  12. I agree with dressing appropriately for work, church, interviews, etc!
I was wondering how your 72 hour fast went. I’m a several-year now FWTFL client (because you inspired me!) and I’ve now completed several 24 hour fasts.

  13. I had to get on here and agree with your statement about dressing up! People tend to act better, especially more respectful, when they are dressed better. Love your content, keep up the good work! 🙂

    1. Hi, Cyndi,

I’m hoping you can help me out. I am part of the executive team at work and in the past, dressed similar to the styles you show. Dresses and pants with nice tops or sweaters. Unfortunately, I broke my leg a year ago and now mainly wear athletic shoes which has in turn changed my wardrobe to a more casual look. Can you provide some options for business casual with athletic shoes? I’m 5’7 and slim. Usually wear xs/small tops and 4 bottom. I would like to look more professional when in the office but hard to find attire that looks good with athletic shoes. (Not flat tennis shoes, I have to wear something with more cushion)

  14. I am a school administrator and I do like to dress up as it sets a tone for my day and my students do notice! I find that most people are dressing more casually than I would consider professional so it’s lovely to have these style guides to remind us of the beauty of dressing well! Thank you 😊

    1. I am a college instructor and I totally agree. I think we need a dress code for faculty at our college. Some dress like they are working in their yards. I think dressing well sets a certain tone for the classroom and models professional behavior.
