Mother Of The Bride Dresses | High-end vs. Affordable

I’ve been getting several requests for Mother of the Bride dresses with all the spring weddings. These dresses work for both the mother of the bride and groom and are more targeted towards spring florals and colors. Knowing that everyone’s budget looks different, I’ve included some affordable and expensive options, and I’ve also included accessories: earrings, clutches, and kitten heels.

Teri Jon is on the high-end side of dresses, but their dresses are gorgeous.

Mother Of The Bride | High-End Dresses

As the mother-of-the-bride, you want to ensure you have the perfect dress that showcases your personal style and celebrates you!

Teri Jon has a specific category for mother-of-the-bride dresses with multiple options, ensuring there’s something for everyone. They are high-quality dresses that are perfect for every season and body type and have tons of colors to choose from.

I love the floral prints and the lace accents in these dresses. Navy blue is a popular color choice; the same goes for champagne/light pink colors!

Mother Of The Bride | Affordable Dresses

Everyone’s budget looks different, but that’s no excuse for not finding the perfect dress for you. There are tons of affordable retailer/dress options: Dillards, Nordstrom, and Macy’s are just a few. All of these dresses are under $300 and great quality. Again, I include a variety of color options and some midi and maxi dresses!

Mother Of The Bride | Accessories

Accessories play a key role in every formal look, but there’s no need to spend an arm and leg. These are from Nordstrom and Amazon and are relatively affordable. For starters, finding comfortable heels that allow you to remain on your feet without fear of experiencing pain is imperative. I highly recommend kitten heels – they are flattering, give you plenty of height, and are comfortable.

When it comes to the color, I tend to stick to the nudes/neutrals since they are versatile enough to pair with any style or color dress. Moreover, they can be styled for more than just one occasion, so they’ll be worn year-round!

Pleated Shine Clutch | Black Crystal Clutch | Beige Satin Clutch | Champagne Clutch | Luxe Drop Earrings | Pearl Drop Earrings | Gold Hoop Earrings | Nude Block Heel | Nude Kitten Heels | Nude Clear Strap Heels | Clear Chunky Kitten Heels

Clear heels/sandals have been trending lately, especially for the spring, and I love them – classy, versatile, and timeless. For earrings, I love going with an accent earring, especially if my dress is more on the plain side.

Beauty for the Heart™If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. Psalm 130:3-4

Truth: The psalmist begins in a place of despair, contemplating the weight of sin. We can all resonate with the psalmist because we all sin.

But thankfully, the psalmist doesn’t end there. In verse 4, a shift occurs, which is the heart of the message. God doesn’t hold our transgressions against us. He offers forgiveness. Forgiveness changes everything. It motivates us to revere God, not out of fear of punishment, but out of gratitude for his unwavering grace.

For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. John 1:16–17

Thankful for His amazing grace!

  1. Thank you for your timely post on mother-of-the-bride dresses as my daughter here in Canada is marrying an American physiotherapist and the immigration visa was just approved so we know there will be a wedding some time before June. EXCITING!

  2. Timely post, though I’m just reading it today! I’m currently on the hunt for a long formal dress for niece’s wedding in September. You have given a few options for places I have not heard of so I can browse for dresses on those sites. While I’m not MOB, bride wants everyone dressed formally so I do need a long dress that is fancy. It’s been fun ordering dresses but so far I have to keep returning. I’m hoping I find one soon so I can get alterations (hem) done and then focus on accessories. Will be traveling for this wedding so I want everything ready ahead of time.

  3. Thanks so much for posting this! I often help on the search for non-grandma dresses for myself and friends! I have my last kids wedding (mother of the groom) and bought my first Teri-Jon. It is exquisite! Classy and a little unconventional but definitely not “grandma” Even though this time around I am a grandma!!! Your choices were great. I will add them to my Pinterest page as I am also helping the mother of the bride with her dress choice! Thanks again !

  4. Hello Cyndi! I just received a wedding invite for this April and the dress code is dressy casual. I have never heard of that description before. Can you provide some helpful ideas?
Thank you for your daily dose of Sonshine!

  5. Hi Cyndi, great roundup! Im trying to help my mom (mid 60s) find a dress for her upcoming 50th wedding anniversary. The party is an afternoon reception and we are struggling to find a gold dress that is neither gold lame (which she thinks is tacky) or heavily beaded (which I agree looks too formal for an afternoon event). Any ideas on stores to look at? I think she’d love something like that Eliza J dress (the short navy one with the gold overlay), except in all gold or at least not a darker contrasting color. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  6. I was Mother of the Groom but I was still able to dress feminine and elegantly. Make sure to up your style game all week because it is worth t!!!

  7. My youngest daughter is getting married but not for another 2 years, as her fiance’ is overseas for a year and a half. I’m not looking for anything to wear anytime soon, but I’ll be worried when the time nears because she wants an outdoor wedding in April. We live in southern Louisiana…can you say Humidity?! Oh well, guess I’ll have to wear my hair up! It’s what she wants.
In the meantime, I do have a wedding to attend (just as a guest) next weekend (3/2) and I have no idea what to wear to a March evening wedding. Thankfully, it’s indoors and the venue is an auditorium. I looked it up and it looks nice when decorated. Now, if I could just figure out what the crazy weather is going to be like! ha ha

  8. Love beauty for the heart message. No weddings to attend for the foreseeable future with my grandkids. I wish there had been bloggers in the Internet when my kids got married. (There probably was I just didn’t know about it.) It’s stressful finding a dress. You’re doing a good thing helping ladies..

  9. Thanks so much for this post on your blog today! My son is getting married in May, so I found this very helpful!! 😊. I’ve already purchased my dress (which you included under the affordable options so that made me feel great about what I chose). And was able to get my accessories from your recommendations. Thank you!!
