Coastal Chic Style for Spring/Summer

Happy Monday, friends, and welcome to a new month! Today, I’m sharing some coastal chic style, sometimes called coastal grandmother style.

What is Coastal Chic Style? It’s relaxed yet refined, casual but elevated. It conveys a warm, inviting, laid-back luxury without being overtly cozy or slouchy.

The key to wearing coastal chic fashion is to balance casual and polished, embracing laid-back silhouettes, light fabrics, and a color palette inspired by the seaside. Think whites, blues, and natural linen colors.

Coastal Chic Style for Spring/Summer

In my first outfit, I’m wearing a relaxed button-up shirt with linen pants. The outfit is comfortable but polished.

Next, I wore a linen shirt from J.Crew with white pants. I layered a navy sweater over my shoulders, which gives me coastal chic vibes. Rattan is also a staple for the coastal chic look, whether it’s a belt, earrings, or handbag.

Beauty For the Heart®Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2 Corinthians 4:16-17

Truth: Life can feel like a constant battle. Our bodies weaken, our plans crumble, and difficulties pile up. It’s easy to get discouraged, to lose heart in the face of these outward struggles.

2 Corinthians 4:16 offers a message of hope. Our bodies are aging, but the more time we spend in God’s word, the more our faith is renewed.

The verse goes on to say that our “light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” Our present difficulties may not seem like it, but they are temporary. They pale in comparison to the eternal glory that awaits us.

We can face today with courage, knowing that our inner strength is renewed by God. We can face today with hope, knowing that our present struggles are leading to something far greater.

Let your beauty shine from the inside out today!

  1. You look so cute in these coastal grandmother looks! I adore this style, even though I’m not a grandmother yet! I especially love that Tretorns are back- I lived in mine in high school in the 80s!

  2. Love these outfits Cyndi! I am heading to Nantucket for a daughter/Mom
Trip so good timing. I ordered the Madewell woven sling back bag from Nordstrom’s. It will be cute and easy to carry. Thank you!

  3. I didn’t know there was a name for this look. You look great in all 3 outfits. I have two pair of linen type pants from old Navy I’ve had for several years and they still look brand new. Same style as these, but have a tie at the waist. They don’t wrinkle and I found perfect length for my 5’3” frame. If these are same quality I’d say get them for the lady who doesn’t like wrinkles. I don’t either. I’m usually not a fan of Old Navy for clothes that hold up over time, but my pants sure have. Old Navy seems to know their linen. lol

  4. I love these looks! I just ordered 3 new linen pants from old navy! Black, olive green and the linen ones you’re wearing in today’s post! Old navy and banana republic factory are the best place as I can get the length I need!
Enjoy North Carolina my husband has family there! Such a beautiful place!

  5. Can’t even believe I bought something right before you showed it! I found the linen blend wide-leg pants last week (50% off) at Old Navy and bought 3 prs. Wore the blue and white stripe ones yesterday to church with a white tee that has eyelet short sleeves. Got so many compliments and it was the perfect outfit for lots of egg hunting hide-‘n-seek fun later in the day. Least expensive (and the most comfortable) Easter outfit of my entire life! 😁 Have a great trip!!

  6. I love the simplicity of this look. My only problem is the tendency of linen to look wrinkled all the time.

    1. I agree, especially with tops. The seatbelt just kills the look! Wrinkles are not a concern with these slacks. I wore them from 7:30 yesterday morning until 7:00 last evening…did a lot of sitting and car riding and they looked almost as fresh when I took them off. I think you’ll enjoy them as much as I did, especially since it’s a fabric I shy away from constantly.

        1. Hope they work for you! I chose to wear another pair yesterday with no regrets…and no wrinkles.😁

  7. The view is simply beautiful! Enjoy your time together. Coastal grandma looks good on you. Blessings.

    1. I hope you enjoy your time in our WNC mountains! I live north of Asheville in Madison County. I love the Coastsl Grandma look 🙂
