26 Days of Summer Fashion (Day 8)

It’s Day 8 of my 26 Days of Summer Fashion and I’m styling my striped dress from Old Navy again. I do wear my clothes more than one time. Probably like you, the ones I like the most, I wear a lot.

This dress is one of those items I love wearing now that the weather has warmed up. About a month ago I styled it with my denim jacket and my converse sneakers.

I wanted to style it with a military vest. I had seen it styled this way on Pinterest and I finally found a vest at JC Penneys.

Instead of wearing my converse, I wore my leopard print sandals. I like mixing stripes with leopard print.

  1. Congratulations Cathy on your weight loss!
Cyndi this outfit looks very comfortable. I have 2 dresses from Tàrget similar to yours. I wear them because they are easy to throw on and run errands.

    1. As a child, I always LOVED Vacation Bible School. It was the highlight of my summer! It was two weeks back then – in the mornings. I think I started helping right after I was too old to attend. So I’ve spent about 60 years in VBS! ????. Nothing like it. It sure makes me more tired now, but it’s worth it!

  2. I love this dress and both of the ways you styled it. Stripes are the best! I don’t feel they really need or benefit from a statement necklace. I usually just have some white dangly earrings that were my mom’s. One pair are hoops and the other little hanging balls. they’re always perfect with summer clothes especially stripes that are already busy….. good luck with everything this week.

  3. Cyndi, I thought for a minute that you had a twin! LOL I like both ways of styling this outfit.
( and the world would certainly be blessed if there were another precious person like you!)

  4. Very cute on you! I love the versatility of the dress, military and leopard touches. Who doesn’t love a pretty statement necklace too! I have a black and white striped sleeveless maxi dress and a light weight military jacket similar in style and color to yours. I could pair with my black gladiator sandals and a necklace to finish the outfit. Thank you for the idea and encouragement. Thank you also for the important reminder for living life with humility. Beth

  5. Hi Cyndi, you look fab. We mix it up here in the UK too. Leopard, stripes, spots, such a refreshing change than wearing all same colour ways.
Have a great day Nicky. Ps still cold here, frost early this morning 5.30am when my son started work brrr. X

  6. I do love this dress, it looks great! Your tan looks great too, is that a spray tan, what brand do you use and any suggestions, I can’t get mine to look right this year, have a great afternoon! 🙂

  7. Cyndi love this combo and I just received that same vest in mail. What size is yours? I usually wear a small but like you said they only had petite Med so I got that but it seems big through the body so not sure about keeping it. Drawing the strings in just seems to make it boxier? Thanks

  8. The vest and leopard print sandal really added that extra “ump” to a simple dress. That’s the beauty of having simple pieces in your wardrobe. You can dress them up or down. Great job, Cyndi!!

  9. That dress is a hit! I got back from Paris last night and such stripes are a very French thing and I love them.

  10. I have the same dress. Wore it to Church on Sunday with a white denim jacket and black sandals. Received several compliments on it. I love wearing dresses in the summer. I find they are much cooler than wearing shorts!

  11. Cyndi, like some of the other ladies, your blog is helping me so much with putting things together to make a nice outfit. Now, if I can just get my ankle healed so I don’t have to wear the brace and athletic shoes. Do any of the cute flat sandals you wear have good arch support? I have to have that extra support in all of my shoes. Thanks!

  12. I too bought this dress after seeing it on your blog, I love it! I wear it with my black or wcapri capri leggings. Have a blessed day Cyndi 🙂

  13. Love this!! I just bought the same vest at JC Penney a couple of weeks ago. I searched everywhere and just couldn’t find one. Happened to be in Penney’s and they had ONE medium! I snatched it up and practically hid it under the other items I was buying. But now that I have it, I have only worn it once…..because I wasn’t sure what to do with it. Seeing it in this post has given me the confidence to wear it….with so many things in my closet. I have a similar dress and I LOVE it but never would have thought about putting a vest with it. Great job on today’s post!

    1. Keri, I’m with you. Cyndi’s blog is giving me confidence to wear different things and with putting things together.
      Have a blessed day!

    1. I have that dress also and love it . Where did you get the red and white? Would love to have that also.

  14. Cyndi – oh my goodness! I love the look of that dress with the military jacket and leopard sandals as another option. You’ve made a completely different outfit. Don’t you love when that happens?!

Just wanted to ask – I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those leopard sandals. Are they worth the price? Are they comfortable? I am on the fence!! 🙂

Thanks and have a blessed day!

    1. HI there! I really do have to say, the sandals are worth it! They are some of my favorites and have held up with lots of wear!

      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  15. Jesus humbled himself so we should do the same! I am curious who takes your pictures. Cute outfit. No Jean jacket here today though. 90!!

  16. Good morning from Orange Beach, AL, the location for our family beachfest2015!
I so enjoy your posts, pictures and encouragement to find our true beauty in how God sees us! In trying to become healthier for my two grandsons, (12 mo & 18mo), I’ve lost 35 lbs and dropped from a 14-16 to an 8-10, and due to necessity, new clothes were a must over this journey. We have a Goodwill store in our area (DFW, TX) called GW Boutique, where the donated upper end store’s clothing are for re-sale. Saving money on some quality cute pieces has helped as I dropped sizes. I wonder if there is a similar re-sale in another reader’s location or near you? It’s a great source!

    Happy day!

    1. Cathy, Congrats on that weight loss! I know it isn’t easy. And congrats too on having a GW Boutique. Our crisis center thrift store just opened a more upscale second location. I’ll have to check it out.

    2. Congratulations on the weight loss! I wish we had a GW Boutique in the Duluth, GA area. One of my favorite stores for great sales is Kohls. Because I have a Kohls charge card, I am always getting coupons & Kohls cash. I head to the 60-70% off racks first. I bought my mom a nice navy blue sweater, for her upcoming 88th birthday, that was originally $54, marked down to $13.00 and I had a 20% off coupon to use on top of that. Just an example of how you can spend less there. Have a blessed day!

  17. Cute! Side note…. Both of my devotional books for today and even your Beauty from the heart mentioned humility. Love when that happens! 🙂

    1. Amy, yes, I love it when every where I look, God is speaking the same thing to me…bing, bing, bing, ricochet rabbit! Is what I call it! Happy day!
