So This Is How It Begins!

Tan PonchoHappy New Year!! Well, the New Year starts off with me crying. Yep, life around here is quite eventful!

First, Wayne and I had snapped some pictures of this outfit on our way to Lexington yesterday. I started editing them early this morning and realized almost all of them were blurry. Now that could have definitely made me cry, but it didn’t.

I asked Wayne if he would mind snapping some more pictures super quick. He agreed but first he and Colt (my grandson who had stayed all night with us) needed to finish their Star Wars battle.

Some how I ended up being the bad princess and Colt shot his nerf bullet right in my eye. I cried, he cried and thankfully Wayne held it together. Ha!

Anyway, poor Colt felt terrible but he now knows not to aim his nerf gun at my eye. After crying, I didn’t feel much like a picture. Here’s to 2016 and if that’s the worst thing that happens to me in 2016, I will be happy!!

I did manage to find a few pictures from our photo shoot that weren’t blurry. We did some furniture shopping and I wore this poncho. It was cold outside but this poncho was perfect because I didn’t have to drag a coat around with me.

Tan PonchoThese black boots from Payless are $39.99 and are 25% with code ZZNEWYEAR. I love these boots!

Tan PonchoThis Michael Kors handbag was a Christmas gift and I have already carried it several times.

  1. Happy First day of 2016, Cyndi,
I’m sorry to hear about all the tears… maybe they will be happy tears from now on. 🙂
Remember God is with you every step, He knows every tear we shed.
Loved the poncho.. my little fashion group had just talked about the poncho a week ago… Glad to see you wearing one, and love the black boots. Wish I had a Payless in our local area. I will have to check out my Shoe Show. I love the Psalms!! God Bless You in 2016.
Can’t wait for a next fashion show!
On the first day of Jan…. my youngest daughter and I snuggled into some walking/ hiking clothes and took an afternoon walk up and down our road!

  2. Sorry about your eye, when my kids were little I would always get hit in the nose. It would have actually been funny it happen so much if it didn’t hurt so bad. What happen with your plans to move?
Went on a hike with my husband and son today, little harder hike than I would have liked, but I did it! Super enjoyed the In-n-Out burger afterwards.

  3. Oops, I hit the enter button too soon . . . I meant to say kiss your little grandson and tell him how much you love and appreciate having him in your life! All the best to you in 2016! God bless you and yours.
    Sincerely,
    Pam G.

  4. Dear Cyndi – First off, Happy New Year to you. Sorry to hear about the accident involving your eye but remember that this, too, shall pass!

I look forward every day to following your website and seeing the trendy fashions that you display for us women “of a certain age.”

You have a gift, Cyndi, for knowing just the right thing to say at just the right time in your posts and I want you to know how much you are truly valued and appreciated.

Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, doesn’t care about the furnishings in your home or the trappings of our everyday lives, but rather, how much we love Him and devote our lives to helping others who need our support, encouragement, understanding, and fondness.

As you begin this New Year, please know that your are richly blessed with good health, a beautiful family, warm friends, and a community of ladies who look forward to hearing from you each day. Your eye will heal . . . kiss your little grandson and t

  5. Cyndi,
I hope your eye is okay. I’m sure Colt felt terrible. I have spent the day taking down Christmas from all over the house. I love the decorations, but also love when it’s time to get back to normal also makes me happy. By the way I took your advice the other day and placed an order with Nordstrom. Can’t wait for my jeans to arrive. Thanks for the tip. Happy 2016.

  6. Thanks for the sale tip at Payless. I was able to order boots for myself and daughter for under $50 ! I am thoroughly enjoying your blog.

  7. I’m starting the new year purging and re-organizing as most everyone else is. What a great feeling! Enjoy your furniture shopping and be sure to post pictures! As a Louisville girl, I always enjoy heading to Cherry House in LaGrange. They have frequent sales! I believe they’re in the middle of one now.

  8. I have also been in the process of purging today, mostly unused kitchen items and toys, I don’t like clutter and am trying to simplify my life. My husband is a huge help. I wish my children were a bit more helpful! Good luck and Happy New Year!

  9. Now that sounds about how mornings go around here, as well! I hope your eye is feeling better, and Colt was too “traumatized” by the experience. They can be such sensitive little souls! My New Year’s day was spent lingerie shopping! That was fun and I found some great deals! God’s richest blessings for the new year!

  10. I hope you share with us your decorating journey. I need to update my house too. It has been about 10 years since I last change things. I just do not know where to look and what is in style. Please help!!!!!!!

  11. Cyndi, I’m so glD your eye is okay! A very good learning for Colt. Of course he had no intentions of hurting you. After learning about Jo-Lynne purging her closet, etc., I am now reading The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. My first task will be in my closet in our primary home. I too hope that you’ll share pictures of the redecorating process with us. God bless!

  12. I don’t think the photos look blurry at all! Glad the eye situation wasn’t any worse. I wish I lived closer to you so I could buy some of the clothes you purge from your closet..LOL sometimes you just feel like it’s time for a change with decorating and when you do it you wonder why you didn’t do it sooner! Have fun with this project!

  13. I have recently purged my closet. I have a nice size walk in closet, but I share it with my husband… 🙂 Do you organize your closet in any particular way?

  14. Sorry things didn’t start off so great for you, I love your outfit, especially the poncho and purse! Hopefully getting the new furniture will lift your spirits! May God bless you with a healthy happy and prosperous New Year! Take care! 😍

  15. First, love the outfit! Second, I hope you take your readers along on your decorating adventure. As an interior designer I would love to insert my 2 cents!

  16. Poor you and Colt! Glad your eye is ok…seriously, my girlfriends son went blind from being shot in the eye with a nerf gun. so scary! Again, so glad you are ok! Have fun purging and furniture shopping! Maybe Traci will give you a hand!! fun girls day out!! 😉

  17. It was a great fashionable Christmas for me. My husband finally got the hint that I wanted something with fringe! Lol Still wanted to check out Glamour Farms but haven’t because I just don’t know about sizes. Between a medium and large. Have fun with redecorating!

  18. I just made my first purchase from Glamour Farms with your $10.00 discount code (thank you 😉)!
I look forward to following you and your fashion tips!
    Happy New Year!!
    Amber

  19. Oh no, Cyndi! So, “you’ll shoot your eye out” is a real thing! Having raised 4 sons, yes I survived, I too have experienced a shot or 2 with a nerf gun. Maybe a new style trend for 2016, an eye patch that matches your handbag? Thank you for being real! Happy New Year!
