Spring Fashion Trends with Nordstrom

This past weekend, I sent out a newsletter sharing some of my favorite spring fashion trends. Today I’m styling some of those trends and I purchased all of them from Nordstrom.

Nordstrom is one of my favorite places to shop because of their free shipping on purchases and returns. You can’t beat it! Plus, they carry so many of my favorite brands.

This lace up top from Nordstrom is perfect for spring. I added a pair of espadrilles and my favorite pair of frayed hem jeans.

Beauty for the Heart~~2 Timothy 1:7 has been a verse I’ve read for many years. It reminds me of the power I have with Christ.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.

Have a blessed day!

  1. You’ve styled another fantastic outfit- easy, effortless and still stylish! I must say, I LOVE the shot of you sitting to showcase your frayed hem jeans, your shoes, and the bag. That shot makes it so easy to see these details…please do this again!

  2. LOVE this top! Was al dissapponted when I just tried to order and my size is sold out. I find that happening a lot. I tried to get that cute military jacket a few weeks ago. Gone as well. Not quick enough! Thanks for your posts though! Love your style.

  3. Great outfit Cyndi you look fab. I have a “Cyndi “style” outfit on today😎 Sunny and warm here in the UK yay.
    Nicky

  4. I really love this top and might have to order it. Reminds me of my younger days in the 60’s!

I, for one, find it helpful to get sizing information from you so I know how to order for myself. Although I lost around 20 pounds last year, I’ve still got about 12 years on you and my body shape has changed somewhat and I have to make adjustments for that.

    Have a great week Cindi!

  5. I purchased those jeans and love them!! In Joes I wear a 28 and had to purchase a 27 in these. I love the fit and lightweight.

  6. I love the skinny jeans on you! Adorable! I am 5’7 and I wish I could wear those cute shoes! Either way, I know I can always sub out shoes with others.. I say keep rocking whatever you feel cute in! Cause all your outfits are an inspiration, weather tall or short! 🙂 Don’t worry about negative comments on your sizing.. you can’t please everyone 🙂 Love your blog.. have a beautiful blessed day in the Lord today 🙂

    1. Sorry everyone if I came off negative, I didn’t mean to, just lamenting my tallness. Cyndi, I meant no offense, you have a great blog!

      1. Oh no, I don’t think anyone thought your comment was negative 🙂 My post probably came out wrong… I meant the negative comments she had received when she posts what size she wears.. not to worry about them. 🙂 I hear you on the tallness.. it’s sad to pass up all those cute wedges! LOL Have a blessed day B!
        .

      2. There is no shame in beng tall. Your sisters are being negative and mean, causing you unnecessary distress. Who needs that in their life. Tell them to STOP or avoid them. It is terrible to be so upset about ones height. 5’9″ is not an unreasonable height for a women. Just be happy!

  7. I’m not fashionable, but I wish there were a blog for women who are too tall to wear these cute outfits. At 5’9″ I still get teased about my height, and there’s no way I could pull off those heels. Petite women are incredibly blessed, and to them I say, go for it!
If you know of a fashion site for too-tall gals like myself, I’d love to know about it!

    1. If you get teased for being tall, I bet the people are jealous. I’m 5’9″ and I love it, if I want to wear heels I go for it. Hold your head up, stand up straight and be proud of your height, it’s a special gift.

      1. My daughter is almost 5’9″, my daughter-in-law is over 5’9″, two of my sisters-in-law are 6′, and I have a niece who claims 6’2″, but we think she is 6’3″. I, myself, am 5’7″. I wear heals all the time, as do my daughter and daughter-in-law. My very tall niece swears by Nordstrom for sizing (she’s pretty thin) in clothes and shoes. If she can find the right length or size, anyone can. Also, Payless has larger size shoes. Don’t let your size hinder you!

        1. Bandye I totally agree with you, love your height, I do! I think your reply was meant for “B”, hope she got to read it.

        2. Hi Brandye! That’s great that you all love being tall. Perhaps you have tall husbands? Mine is only 6′ tall and I don’t want to embarrass him by wearing shoes that make me look even bigger. I am so embarrassed that my shoes are so large (9 and 1/2 or 10) while everyone else in my family (hubby’s side, too) wears a 6 or 8, max. They love commenting and calling me “big girl”. I HATE it, because It makes me feel fat, large and unfeminine, and I’m only a size 8! But they call me “big girl”, “Amazon woman”, “jolly green giant”. My sisters have always reminded me how petite is perfect.

My husband doesn’t seem to mind too much, and he hates when I put myself down. I wish I could shrink, but no can do! I have a pair of cute boots that go with a lot, but I refuse to wear them if I’m going anywhere with my husband because they make us the same height. My sisters say no man wants a woman that large, and so I hate the thought of embarrassing him in public. It frustrates him. 🙁

          1. Yes, the men are tall too, however my niece is taller than her husband. She really doesn’t wear heals much. (BTW, she wears a size 12 shoe!) My D-I-L and daughter wear the same size shoe as you do.

I think it’s terrible you get teased. Petite isn’t perfect. Tall isn’t perfect. Average isn’t perfect. There’s only been one perfect person and He got hung on a cross. Ask them if they’ve walked on water recently.

You sound beautiful to me!! Most models are your height. I know it’s hard…but try not to let them get to you. My husband is 6’7″. He’s always been “tall for his age”, plus has a September birthday…so in Texas, that put him at the “older” end of his grade level. He was forever getting teased that he must have failed a grade, that he was too big. In first grade, the school had to bring a 3rd grade desk to him. Of course, it worked out for him when he played basketball. But even as an adult, some drunk will want to arm wrestle him b/c he’s the biggest guy in the room. Geez. So, I get how hard it can be.

Come to this blog and find some others that will support you. You are fabulous and beautiful, and exactly who God made you to be.

Cyndi, feel free to share my email address with this sweet lady. I will be happy to chat anytime!

      2. Bobbi, thanks for the encouragement. It’s so great if you can be pleased with your height. I’ve been teased mercilessly by close family members since I was 12. And to this day! Maybe it is jealousy, but it has made me extremely insecure and I still slouch a lot. I wish I could learn to stand up straight and ignore them. Maybe that will be my goal for this summer.

        1. B, I feel bad that your sister’s are so mean! Just tell them to Stop! Have your husband back you up, it must be getting old. I am sure you would not embarrass your husband in public! Who cares what everyone else thinks, I’m sure you are quite lovely!

        2. B,
I hope you got my comment a few weeks ago, when you were troubled by your height, it reads much the same as Brandye’s. I am 5’9″ and have not been troubled by my height, my daughter is 5.10 and still wears her heels as I do. Cyndi s style can be worn by all, just adapt. I would send you some pics of me wearing all sorts of styles if that helps. Don’t get down by your height.
          Best wishes
          Nicky

        3. I’ve always been tall for my age, my Mom told me at a very young age to stand up tall. There was a girl she knew growing up that didn’t like being tall and would slouch. She said she was still tall but just had bad posture. My husband is only one inch taller than me, in fact when I met him in high school I told my Mom “I met this really cute guy but I think I’m taller than him”, 44 years ago. He doesn’t care if I’m taller than him, he likes my legs and high heels just make them look better.

Stand up straight, be proud and just remember – we can always reach the top shelf 🙂

          1. Thank you, ladies, for you’re encouragement. I’m going to try to stand up straight, although being close to 40, it may be too late. My chiropractor gave me some exercises that will hopefully help.
Great job to you all who tell your tall girls to stand up tall! How lovely! I was always told, “No boy will even want to talk to you because you are so big” and “No man wants a woman taller than him, so good luck with that!” And I wasn’t just told this once, but day after day after day after day…
Thankfully my husband is a few inches taller than me and he seems to be able to overlook my unnatural height. He’s a good guy!
I also never realized how much the litany of insults continued to affect me as an adult until I started really dealing with my “issues.” I didn’t come from a Christian home, and I had no idea this kind of talk was not normal. I was the youngest and thought they were just telling me the truth. Why would anyone lie to a child? Thankfully I have boys, so the tall thing is a plus for them. :o)
The other day, after a class I was teaching, a mother came up and asked me a question. But first she looked at me and said, “Wow! I feel so short next to you.” Honestly, I wanted to slap her. I just smiled at her and laughed, because I knew she wasn’t purposely being rude, but old wounds run deep. She was in fact about 4’11” herself, so I guess I look even more freakish to someone on the other side of the spectrum.
I’m trying to let this baggage go. Really, in the grand scheme of things, is it even worth fretting over? Probably not.
So anyhow, thanks for the support! It’s been an incredible blessing.

    2. Oh my! to have tall girl problems 🙂 – at 5’2 some things appear as though it’s a costume OR you’re playing dress up. My daughter is taller – 5’7 and I encourage her to embrace it. Tall women have a presence that petite women just can never have – no matter what we wear.

      1. Thanks! I checked it out and she does have some great styles. I noticed she said she loves heels…But… I’d bet her husband is at least 6’5″! :o) With heels, I look like a freak. Flats are definitely my friend. I HATE formal occasions where the only shoe that looks good with my dress is a heel. I’ll wear them if I must, but I try desperately to sit down or find a nice corner to stand in.

I have a friend who is beautiful and about my height, and her husband is only an inch or so taller than she is. She wears heels and looks great – but I don’t know how she doesn’t care that she’s taller than him in heels. I think it’s her confidence, because she looks nowhere near as silly as I do.

  8. I’m swooning over this outfit! I love all the details of the top, and of course the bell sleeves!! I wish the jeans came in petite length. Being 5’3″, they would be ankle length and not cropped length on me. Which would be ok but, with the cropped length, you can really show case those cute shoes!!

  9. Cyndi, These photos are some of the best you’ve shared. I like the casualness, especially in the one where you’re sitting on the ground. Your smile seems brighter, if that’s possible! Have a blessed day!

  10. You are such a pretty woman. And so classy. Thank you for the posts/suggestions and Beauty for the heart. I agree with the other ladies….It is quite helpful to know what size you are and the sizes you wear. I feel like we are about the same size and knowing how items fit is quite helpful in spending my kids inheritance on my clothing. LOL I am looking forward to knowing your complete and detailed (i hope) post on healthy eating/exercising/oil usage. Thank you again.

  11. Cyndi, I find it very helpful when you note what sizes you wear. Any chance you are able to do that again? I love your blog, outfits and encouraging comments on Scripture!

    1. I’m going to address this in a post soon!! I got a couple of negative comments about sharing my size so that’s why I stopped. It’s easier for me to share it, than to have to answer it in the comments. 🙂
      Blessings,
      cyndi

      1. Please keep sharing your sizes. If you say you normally wear a small but needed a medium, that helps tremendously for me to make a decision on the size I would need.
Also, I would love to see more jeans that are not skinny jeans, some straight leg and boot cut!
        Enjoy your daily post!!

  12. Love, love, LOVE this outfit on you! The top is so flattering and I’m thinking of trying the jeans. Did you find them true to size? What size are you wearing, I’m similar in size. It’s so fun to read your blog each morning, you are beautiful inside and out!

    1. Hi Sandy, thank you so much. I’m wearing a size 28 which is my normal size. I don’t think I would size down, I don’t know why Nordstrom said to.
      Hope that helps!
      Cyndi

  13. What size top did you get? So far it seems I am running the same size as you. And I agree with the above commentor, I am buying too much also from your posts!

  14. Do you find these jeans to run true to size? They are suggesting ordering one size smaller? Did you order your reg size or one size smaller?

    1. I’m wearing a size 28 which is my normal size. I don’t think I would size down, I don’t know why Nordstrom said to do that.
      Cyndi

  15. I’m going to have to unsubscribe to your emails. I ordered just about everything on your post today from Nordstroms. Love your style (and grace!)

  16. I bought those jeans at your suggestion and they are amazing! They are so soft, comfortable and FLATTERING! I feel like I won the Jean lottery. Thank you for your recommendation, I wouldn’t have known about them without you. Love your style.
