Aww Sunday! I’m so thankful to start the first Sunday of the New Year at church. It’s so nice to be with my church family. We share life together, joys and sorrows, laughter and tears.
Today is Day 4 of my 31 Days of Winter Fashion and of course I’m sharing what I wore to church.
I purchased this striped dress from Gap. I think it’s one of those dresses you can wear several different ways and in several different seasons.
Since it’s navy blue striped, I added my new Stitch Fix scarf because it has orange and yellows which goes great with blue.
I also added grey leggings and my brown riding boots.

Every new year I try to pick a word for that year. The word I picked this year came to me pretty quickly….freedom.
Have you ever hung on to some stuff you know you needed to let go of?? The picture that came to my mind was this, I’m carrying a backpack on my back. It’s heavy and I’m ready to let go of it. I pictured it on the floor. Done.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1
Have a blessed day!
**My friend, Traci made my freedom button. You can find her website HERE.
Love this.
I like the Gap dress and I am thinking about ordering it? Did you order the Petite size? Can I ask – how tall are you? I just can’t decide what size to order???
I didn’t order the petite size. I’m 5’6″ and I ordered a medium in the dress.
Hope that helps!!

My word is “New.” See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Can’t wait to see what new and exciting things God is going to do in our lives this year.
Love hearing about your word – Happy New Year!
Blessings,
Cyndi
Love the dress. I would have never put that scarf with the dress but after seeing it on you with the dress it looks very pretty. I guess I am such a matchy, matchy, person. Best wishes for a new year!
Sorry but this one is a miss with me. Maybe without the scarf it would look ok but just way too busy. The scarf is just too much. The color doesn’t work. Love it with the other outfit you wore it with though.
Love all your posts!! Excited to hear how your study goes! Our study starts this week!
My insight from God is renewal!
Those that wait on Lord shall renew strength they shall mount up like eagles -run not grow weary! Isaiah 40;31readily cheerfully proclaim Gods love!
Thank so much – looking forward to this New Year!
Blessings,
Cyndi
I’m just not digging the scarf with the dress.. Looks like Cyndi has no neck. And the color just doesn’t go. I think just the necklace alone would look so much better. Reading all the comments tho, it appears I am alone in my opinion.
Adorable as always! And it is funny how different we all are…I was inspired by your boot cut jeans post and thought they looked adorable on you!
Absolutely love the outfit! Your dress is so cute! I too need to let some things go, thanks for reminding me I need to let go, forgive and move on as a Christian. Have a very Blessed Sunday! Debbie 🙂
Thanks Debbie – so happy to have your reading along and ready for a NEW year!
Blessings,
Cyndi
Love everything about this!
My word this year is surrender.
Love the outfit you work today. I too, prayerfully choose a word each year to concentrate on throughout the year. My word for this year is: hope. Love your posts Cyndi and look forward to seeing more of your winter fashion picks.
Cindi. Discovered your site about three weeks ago and have been so inspired to make some changes in my life. Last year my word was HOPE. So many changes with my last baby leaving home. This year I want to embrace the empty nest and learn to enjoy this next chapter. I’m going to take better care of myself and focus on being happy and proud of what I see in the mirror. Thank you for your encouragement through your site and your openness and honesty about the curves life throws us. You are a blessing to even those that have never meet you. Happy Sunday! Smiles, Suzanne
Hi Suzanne!!
Thanks so much for following along. The empty nest is a different season but I think you’ll find it’s also a wonderful one!!
Blessings,
Cyndi
Thank you for reading along. I hope you feel encouraged and loved here!
Blessings,
Cyndi
The outfit is very attractive, as always. I like your inspiration for the year, “freedom”. Mine is “enough”. It serves as a reminder and a question-Did I do enough? Love enough, give enough, work enough, worship enough? It serves to remind me to be grateful for what I have which is enough and then some! I am striving to be less acquisitive and more creative, particularly with my wardrobe, this year. Blessings on you and yours in 2015 and good luck on finding freedom. 🙂
It’s so funny how we all like different things. I thought the boot cut jeans looked very stylish. Well, the world would be a very boring place if we all had the same opinion all the time!
Anyway- I love your bright smile, which is always the best thing anyone can wear.
Really like that outfit! The dress is very cute.
Very cute outfit and I love using that image of dropping the backpack on the floor. I am going to think of that when I clean out my shoe rack.
On another note, I did not comment on the post about boot cut jeans but have thought of it several times. You look so cute and chic in all your posts, but those boot cut jeans did not look good even on a cutie like you. I suggest all we over-40’s avoid buying those in the future. (I sure will -I need all the help I can get!)
Not trying to start a fight here but if you saw me in skinny jeans you would think otherwise. Some of us can’t pull them off… over 40 or under…
Amen! Several years ago we were all told to wear the boot cut because it balanced out the wider parts of us. Skinny jeans just accentuate that, which is NOT attractive on some of us.
Cute dress and love the scarf!
A very versatile dress…If you hadn’t mentioned grey tights, I would have thought they were navy from the photo..I love the scarf choice and your reasoning that these colors go with navy.
Freedom is a wonderful word for this year..something i personally relate to at this stage in my life..
