31 Days of Winter Fashion-Day 31

Welcome to Day 31 of 31 Days of Winter Fashion. Today I’m styling a little black dress.

I can’t believe I have been styling winter fashion and I almost forgot to style a little black dress. This is a basic wardrobe piece and can be styled in every season.

This dress is an Andrew Marc dress and it is sleeveless so I added a long sleeve black shirt.

I added my cheetah scarf and decided to wear my cognac booties instead of a typical black bootie.

How do you style your little black dress?

Beauty For the Heart~~I don’t know about you all, buy I’m a morning person. I love to get up around 5 or 5:30 and start my day. Of course I start with coffee and I head to my office. I spend time reading scripture and praying first and as Psalm 5:3 says, I lay requests before the Lord.

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:3

Are you a morning or a late night person?

Have a blessed day!

  1. Love this look. I had ordered a Loft Lou & Grey LBD before I saw your post. I already had everything else in my closet for this look. Love your fun but classy style.

  2. Hi Cyndi! Will you be posting a pic of all of your outfits for winter like your did fall? I love having a pic of each day to add to my notebook I started with the gypo style challenge you did together! 🙂

  3. You’ve inspired me so much with your blog. Initially the clothing caught my eye. I went on to view some of the Christian music. Now, through helping kids at faith formation, I’ve learned that music is a form of prayer. Thank you for your inspiration. You are touching lives!

  4. Love the LBD! It can be worn so many different ways. Kathy, I just started a new devotional the beginning of the year that is wonderful and it is “Jesus Calling” the one I used last year I really enjoyed too which was “Keeping God in the Small Stuff.”

  5. Cyndi,I am so happy I stumbled upon your blog which is so fun to look at and then has the bonus of a beautiful message. I wish I had printed all 31 days of them. Can anyone recommend a good daily Devotional book to start my mornings? Thx

    1. Hi Kathy!
Thanks for stopping by! I have a button in my sidebar that says 31 Days of Winter Fashion. If you click it, it will show all my outfit posts.
There are lots of good devotional books. Jesus Calling by Sarah Young is a good one to start with.
      Have a wonderful week!
      Cyndi

  6. Goodmorning Cyndi…I too am a morning person. 🙂 I love the quiet time with my cup of coffee, I keep thinking how lucky I am to have this special time just for me. I read my devotionals, look through Pinterest and of course my favourite, your site “Walking in Grace and Beauty, and I can’t think of a better way to start my day. 🙂 We received about 8 inches of snow the last couple of days, it’s not going to discourage me though, because spring should be here in about 2 1/2 months. 🙂 Time to plan for that spring wardrobe. 🙂 Looking forward to more fashion ideas.

  7. Yes, most definitely a morning person. I am up early with coffee and my devotions. Can’t think of a better way to start the day. Sometimes I’m ridiculed for my habit, but I am not changing!

  8. I like to get up early and have my quiet time with God to begin my day. Then I check a couple of blogs for tips on dressing and yours
has both blessed and dressed me to get my look up to date.
    Thank you:)

  9. Thanks for the 31 days …. looked forward to visiting your site each day! Loved it all. I would not have thought of putting a long sleeve shirt under a sleeveless dress…will be checking out what I have hiding in my closet! =0)
Enjoy your first Sunday of February tomorrow…your first day “off” in 31 days….<3

    1. I bought the dress Cyndi linked to for the Build Your Wardrobe Basucs challenge in
October. I love that dress and wouldn’t have ever thought of wearing something under it. However, I’ve since had a white blouse, a flannel, and a silky tunic that I’ve worn with it. Now I’ll try a black shirt and copy this look! Such a versatile piece, my favorite from the basics challenge.

  10. Loved all your winter stylings even tho too hot for me here in Maui.
Bought most of your outfits at Maui Old Navy & Forever 21 for Christmas visit with my daughter and family and left them in AL including two pairs of ankle booties. Got rave reviews from my daughter and her young friends, all said I looked fabulous, all wanting to know where I bought my things! I told them all about your site so expect a rush of AL 30 somethings to sign up. Great to hear esp for a 65+ grandma!!! It is hot here most days so looking forward to cooler, lighter outfits. Thanks for helping me feel “with it” and (appropriately dressed)again!!!!

  11. I wore an outfit very similar to this to work today. I wore a black turtle neck sweater, slim fitting black skirt, black tights, brown boots and a leopard print scarf. Such a cute look

  12. I don’t own a LBD and scarves don’t look good on me, but I love to see what you will put together. I am usually up at 6:30 since that is when my husband gets up for work.

  13. Love the cognac booties with the black. I wore a LBD with a gray leopard sweater and silver and pearl statement necklace to a rehearsal dinner this october and got a nice compliment about looking stylish from the younger man sitting at my table! I owe my new style to you and Alison At GetYour Pretty On. Still not a big hair fan though even if your reader calls it beauty pageant hair! I love your inspirational part of your posts, too. Several of my girlfriends follow you now from my recommendation.

  14. I am not usually a morning person, but have been getting up earlier to do the FOCUSed15 w/Katie Orr!
(Found out about that through your blogg:) I, too, am sad to see the 31 Days of Winter Fashion come to an end. I have learned so much, not only about styling, but also how God can use anything & everything to work in the lives of His children. Can’t wait to see what’s next! God Bless!

  15. I am a morning person too Cyndi. Although I sometimes stay up too late and then the next morning I really wish I hadn’t! I too thought of you last night while watching Undercover Boss. What a nice CEO you have in Stella & Dot! Love your outfit 🙂

  16. I love the LBD. It’s always a favorite that can be worn anywhere and is always appropriate. I guess I’m the odd man out here, though. Try as I might, I just cannot get on board the brown + black train. Perhaps if the tights had been brown or cognac? In any case, we don’t all have the same tastes; seeing how others style things is always an eye-opener. I’ve learned many things from your blog, Cyndi, not only about fashion but about life as well. Thanks for all you do.

  17. Very nice! I am not a morning person as such; retired 3 years ago after 39 years of getting up at 6:30 am every morning. Now, I usually get up around 9 am but I can stay up till midnight now. Also, I wanted to mention that I wear UGGS and I just turned 60! I can’t wear them very much where I live in Canada as we get a lot of wet snow, rain, drizzle, fog but when I can I do. They are very comfy, like slippers, and warm when it’s cold. My UGGS even have little bows on the ankles. (I am travelling to Toronto, Canaa on Monday and I just packed my UGGS.) Have a great weekend!

  18. I used to always feel “left out” when I read about or saw pictures of little black dresses. I just absolutely do not look good in black. Many women do, but I don’t think all of us do. And I’m very tall, so all-black isn’t flattering in that respect, either. I’ve found I look better in navy or gray. I still haven’t found a dress for me in those colors, but I wear a lot of separates. I have a gray sweater with a cowl neckline that I wear with black pants which works.

  19. Love the LBD on you, at first I thought you were wearing a belt, which I can’t do (no waistline) but see it’s inset. I’m wondering how fitted? How creative to wear a long-sleeved shirt underneath to make it a year-round piece! Love the cognac booties and scarf too. Like you, I am a morning person and enjoy my quiet time then.

  20. Love this outfit! You are adorable!! Oh I ordered the long necklace from Stella and Dot. I gave you credit. I can’t wait to get it. The Ceo was on Undercover Boss last night. What a great person she is. Happy Saturday!!!

    1. thought about Cyndi and others who remark on her about Stella and Dot when I saw the Undercover Boss last night.
I wonder how many others are a bit sad to see the 31 days of Winter styling come to a close. I am looking forward to the sched. layed out for us though, The LBD was a great grand finale.

      1. I liked all the outfis. Even the Uggs. I also have big hair I love it too. Oh Cyndi in SC we call it Beauty Queen hair! Looking at Uggs good prices. Lol

  21. I am a postal worker, I feel like I work like a man all week and I really enjoy dressing like a woman on Sundays and Wednesdays for church and any outings I am Blessed to go on! You have inspired me with age appropriate outfits. I have had many good comments and have noticed other woman in church wearing more jewelry and scarves . Thank you for bringing fashion back into my life!

  22. This is exactly how I would style a black dress. I just think you can never go wrong with cheetah print – but that’s just me! Loving this look, especially the cognac shoes instead of black!!

  23. I recently retired after 23 years of teaching K and 1st grade… At first I went the route of pjs and sweats but soon found out I am WAY more productive if I dress as if I’m employed in my home! Your site has given me great ideas on things to wear and still be comfy. Each day is a gift… Open it carefully and enjoy it

  24. Since finding your website, I have worn about four different outfits. I love your posts and look forward to them every day. I love the scripture passages as well and it gives me great encouragement. I am a morning person so I get up before my kids so that I can have a quiet time!
