Remember When I Said No Matchy Matchy?

Happy Monday ladies! I’ve been blogging for 10 years this year and believe me; I have more than once put my foot in my mouth!

One of the fashion rules (and let’s be honest in fashion there aren’t many rules), was that wearing matchy matchy was old fashioned and can age you, so mix it up! Well, here we are in 2019, and matchy matchy is in style. I give up!!

One of the good things about a matching set is you don’t always have to wear the pieces together. You can build 3 different outfits from one.

  • Wear the set together,
  • Wear the bottoms with a solid color top
  • Wear the top with jeans or a solid dress pant.

Matching Sets are a trend you’ll see this spring and summer so I thought I should share how I will wear this trend.

I found this bold floral print blouse at Nordstrom. The blouse comes in different colors and patterns, but I really liked this floral pattern.

Another trend you’ll see this spring is straw totes and circle handle handbags. This handbag from JCPenney has both trends, and it’s a pretty handbag for spring. It’s on sale right now for $33.75, use code GETNOW6.

I’m talking about a lot of trends today, but wide leg crop pants are definitely trending for spring. At first, I wasn’t sure I would like them, but the more I wear them, the more I like them. These pants come in different colors and patterns.

I always get asked how tall I am so for reference; I’m 5’6″. I feel like I need heels with this outfit but I’m going to style some wide leg pants in a few days, and I’ll wear flats with them.

I’ll wear this outfit to church, but it would be perfect for any spring event that you want to be dressed up a bit.

So what do you think? Will you wear matchy matchy?

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and, Instagram.

Beauty For The Heart~~If you think you are not uniquely created, you need to look at Psalm 139: 15-16 (TPT)

You even formed every bone in my body when you created me in the secret place, carefully, skillfully shaping me from nothing to something. You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book.

God not only uniquely created you, but he created you with your whole life in mind. He knew everything you were going to need in your life, and he made you so that you could be the best YOU.

Have a blessed day!

  1. You look lovely, Cyndi. Do whatever makes you feel wonderful is what you should do for you. There are many opinions out there but each to their own. I’m pondering next steps so I appreciate all the info and honesty you’ve provided. I’m 59 and lost 100 lbs these past 2 years. I’m grateful that taking consistently good care of my skin since my teens provided healthy elasticity, thus I’m not sagging too much 😂. Losing slow & healthy with lots of exercise also helps. Still …. hmmm. Love the outfit. I had a matchy matchy 2 pc Hawaiian print outfit back in the 80s. It was so cute and I did wear in Hawaii. I hesitate at Round 2 of a trend but love this look on you. Thanks for all you do. Blessings.

  2. Hi Cyndi!
Beautiful outfit & Beauty For The Heart today. I love the straw bag, too!
I have a FWTFL question & I wasn’t sure where to post it so I’m asking it here. How that is ok. I’m thinking of joining the VIP program in April. I have been through 3 rounds & have had some success. Question: are there any new exercise sequences? I know they issue new things each week but was hoping for some new added material. Thank you for amy help!

  3. Cyndi…..You look great! Love the outfit and your results on your filler & botox. I just got mine 3 weeks ago(juvederm & dysport) I didn’t do the lip area either like last year. I only did under my high cheekbones to fill in the volume loss going on there/around the nose to mouth which she said didn’t take much at all cause it was better and dysport around the eyes and eyebrows and frownies. There is nothing wrong with tweaking as we get older if it helps us to feel better about ourselves. I used Juvederm this year with a refined filler on top. The Juvederm is harder on me but with the refined on top…made it softer. It tends to pouf out better on me if that is a correct term. Enjoy your tweaking……..you always look fabulous!

  4. The outfit is not something I would wear TBH but looks absolutely darling on you! As for the fillers and Botox, really none of us has a right to judge what is best for someone else. Don’t believe in it? Then don’t do it. If it makes you feel prettier, then go for it. Your specialist did a great job! Looks very normal and you haven’t changed one bit! I’ve had dillers and Botox but what I got the most benefit from was an IPL laser facial, and later the HALO treatment. Take care!

  5. Absolutely looks gorgeous on you. I fell in love with wide pants immediately. Took me back to my ever so cute gaucho denim pants in the late 70s. Lol, yes every thing does return. Love this matchy matchy look! Love the idea of using the pieces to make up other outfits. Great reminder!

  6. When I hear “matchy-matchy,” to me it means accessories. Like not wearing a pink handbag, pink shoes, and pink jewelry with this outfit. Is that a look that’s trending? Tops and bottoms are ok being matched. Very cute, as I shop for jumpsuits, the main deal killer is some of them would be so hard to get off in the restroom, with zippers and buttons in bsck. Two pieces like this makes a lot more sense!

  7. I LOVE that outfit and your “growing old gracefully” philosophy. You do YOU and thank you for sharing. I have been considering some fillers. Did you have anything around your eyes (tear troughs)? And any brusing after the procedure? Thank you!!

  8. I love this outfit and I agree it looks like a jumpsuit. Might be great for Easter! I’m dying to hear your post on the cruise. We have a Celebrity cruise booked.

  9. I’ve been thinking of getting some fillers for sometime. Seeing your before and after has convinced me that with a light hand it can make you look fresher/healthier, not younger/frozen face. Does that make sense? Thank you for your honesty on such an open forum.

  10. I don’t think I’ll wear a matched outfit. Having said that, this one looks like a jumpsuit. Very cute! I’ve said I’ll pass on a trend before and had to eat those words. 😉

  11. I love this look! I agree with other comments, it looks like a jumpsuit…not matchy matchy! I’m looking for a cute outfit for my daughter’s casual rehearsal dinner in June…this might be the one!

    1. I’m in the same boat… driving myself crazy as to what to wear .. showers.. rehearsal dinner etc… nothing is overly fancy any more like when I got married. Good luck and congrats to your family.

  12. I love this outfit – looks like a jumpsuit (which are also trending! 🙂 I think because you (Cyndi) are beautiful on the inside, it shows on the outside. Thank you for being so honest with us about aging. I just celebrated 50 this year and my main goal is to start looking after my health. I love following your blog and appreciate all you do for your readers – enjoy your 52nd year! 🙂

  13. I think your results from Botox and filler are amazing! I am also 52 and see nothing wrong with trying to be the best version of yourself while growing old gracefully. If it makes you look and feel great, why not? I have not tried any of these solutions yet, but will consider when the time is right. Thanks for sharing!

  14. I also thought you were styling a jumpsuit today, which I want to purchase this year. I’m 5’4” though so will probably not wear the crop wide leg pants, but as you said – never say never.
I love your open honest approach with us, your readers about your cosmetic work. I just turned 71 and will be doing some filler to soften the lines around my lips, which I hate. Love what you have done with your filler. You look great.

  15. First off I thought this was a jumpsuit. I just bought one to wear to my daughter’s bridal shower that I’m hosting this weekend. I think I’m getting convinced to buy the handbag you featured a few posts ago from amazon like the one you’re using today:) I also thank you for being so honest and sharing your procedures you’ve had done. I read this morning in my devotions thus verse. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own. 1 Cor 6:19.. it talked about how we are to look after ourselves. I just turned 51 and have purchased some creams to help plump up my laugh lines and tighten my neck. I have the thin face too… I’m too chicken for Botox so I’m hoping these crabs work the before and after pics are encouraging to me. You look great and keep doing what makes you happy. Does the matchy matchy go for our shoes and handbags as well?

  16. Cyndi, if you had not said that your outfit is 2 pieces, instead of a jumpsuit, I would have never known it. While matchy matchy isn’t my thing, this outfit is very pretty.

  17. Love this outfit and I’m not into big floral designs but I do like how you styled it and I am glad that the crop style is trending because I’m short. Thank you for sharing your pics and at 57 I have been thinking about getting some Botox done. I have pretty good skin but I’ve also lost 20 pds And boy did it show in my face. Especially around my mouth and chin area which is where I see a big diff on you but I think this is where the filler comes in right? Botox would work on my two frown lines between my eyes but getting both would be a bigger investment and I’m not sure how worth this is to me? Plus I’m scared and I don’t want to get addicted to having work done. Lol

    1. YES the Botox would soften your frown lines. The filler would help around your mouth and chin area.

The Botox is super simple and an easy procedure.

  18. Things change … our likes/dislikes, trends, so called rules etc. and we have a right to change our minds at any time. And the fashion industry seems to change its rules even multiple times in a season. Lol. So I say if you like it and it looks good on you – wear it.

The only thing that never changes is God and His Word! 🙏🏻❤️

And as far as this outfit it kind of looks like a jumpsuit so you can’t really tell it’s matchy matchy. Very pretty!

  19. I think you look darling! The outfit….at first glance…looks like a jumpsuit which is also on trend this year…just not for me, nor this outfit because I’m 77. Yrs old! Ha! That being said, I think it looks adorable on you younger girls. Very pretty print as well.

  20. You look great! I am 57 and have been having regular botox treatments on my forehead for almost 2 years now (deep lines up there) and I am very happy with my results…its very natural and not fake. I have had juvaderm once around my mouth (ouch, that one hurts a bit), but results were natural. Nothing wrong with looking and feeling your best. Any woman thinking about it “got for it”..just be sure you use someone reputable and look at reviews.

  21. I honestly thought this was a jumpsuit, which seem to be trending this spring, so yes, I could likely get on board with this kind of ‘Matchy-Matchy’ look. That being said, I still agree that too much of it can be aging. This is fresh because of the bold print and the cut of the pants. I love those style pants, but at 5’2″ I always feel dumpy in them, they look great on you though.
As for the disclosure in your email – I applaud you for being so honest with us, and like everything else this is a personal choice. I do it too, and have for years. I never want to look plastic, but I don’t like the wrinkly saggy face and choose to do what I can to soften that as much as possible – I love the ladies at my plastic surgeon’s office, and the ones at my dermatologist’s office – we are great friends :). Someone responded on one of your posts, and her response has stuck with me…something to the affect that after seeing all you’re doing (outwardly) she just felt old and dumpy. First and foremost, how you feel inside is reflected outwardly so I hope she’s been able to get past that feeling.
When/If we decide to start these kinds of “improvements” I think it’s good to have someone who will be honest and say – yeah, that looks good, or no, don’t do that again – like a daughter, or a great girlfriend. I think you look fantastic and I want some of that Kool-Aid!!

    1. I totally agree with someone to hold you accountable. My sister and I do that for each other.

And thank you for always being so kind and positive around here!

  22. If you hadn’t said two piece I would have thought this was a jumpsuit and those are so in right now! Looks fabulous and if I didn’t already have an Easter dress I’d be tempted!

  23. The outfit is beautiful and looks beautiful on you. I also thought it was a jumpsuit at first, which is also very big right now. This is a really good matchy matchy, and one I would definitely copy!!Hope you have a blessed day!!

  24. Love everything you’re showing today. The outfit and the purse. I have been curious about Botox and glad to hear you’ve had a good experience with it. I have deep frown lines (or whatever you call them) around my mouth and it just makes me feel so old. Thanks for sharing!!

  25. I actually thought at first glance you had on a jumpsuit. I like this look and think it’s very cute. I’m matchy/matcha but mine is solid black on black, etc. lol

Hope your busy week accomplished much.

    1. Cyndi, I think you’re beautiful with or without work done but I agree with you we all need to make our own personal decisions! I came so close to having Botox done a few years back then chickened out at the last minute only because I was afraid it would look obvious I had it done not because I think it’s wrong. Thank you for sharing so honestly. Maybe one of these days I’ll get up the courage, mean while time…and wrinkles march on! LOL! I will definitely wear matchy, matchy, and am happy it’s trending along with the not so matchy look! Love the handbag! Have a wonderful day!
