What To Pack on a Southern Caribbean Cruise

Happy Monday ladies! Well, I’m finally writing about our 12-night Southern Caribbean Cruise. We traveled in early March which was a perfect time since we were ready to get away from the cold Kentucky weather.

I received a lot of questions about our cruise, and so today I’m going to share what to pack on a Southern Caribbean cruise and what cruise line we used.

First off, I would suggest if you have never been on a cruise you pick a shorter time just to make sure you like it and you don’t get seasick. Wayne and I both LOVE to cruise, and we are already planning our next trip!

We were on the Celebrity Cruise Line, and we were on the Silhouette ship. Celebrity is Royal Caribbean’s sister cruise line.

Celebrity has an emphasis on trendy culinary experiences, and it’s a little more upscale and chic. I have also cruised on Royal Caribbean, and it is wonderful too!

I think the biggest difference, and it may have been because we were on a 12-night cruise, but we were some of the youngest people on the ship. Haha! This was not a party ship which worked for us.

We chose the  AquaClass package that comes with unlimited access to the Relaxation Room, and Persian Garden thermal suite, as well as exclusive access to Blu, a health-centric alternative restaurant (we loved this restaurant!).

The AquaClass also has other amenities such as daily delivery of flavored teas, a pillow menu, upgraded bath toiletries, and an expanded room service breakfast menu.

We had a room with a balcony. Some people don’t care about having a balcony or a window in their room, but I personally like having a place to sit outside. I’m a little claustrophobic.

We did A LOT of excursions!! We booked all of them through Viator.com, and we looked for 4 stars and above excursions. They were all great excursions, and we had no problems, and our groups were always small which isn’t always the case when you book your excursions through the ship.

We toured, we tubed down a river, we snorkeled, we sailed, and we booked it all through viator.com.

Okay, now let’s talk about what to pack! My situation was different because I was packing to take spring pictures. But if I were only packing for the warm destination cruise, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, shorts and dresses/jumpsuits for dinner is all I need.

I typically wore a bathing suit on our excursions because most of them involved water. Here are the seven islands we visited.

St. Thomas is known as an idyllic vacation spot with amazing beaches, gorgeous landscapes, and duty-free shopping,

St. Maarten is the smallest land mass in the world to be shared by two different nations. This island is owned by France and the Netherlands Antilles.

For some reason, I didn’t get a picture of us together at St. Maarten, but we rented a jeep for the day and drove around the island.

It’s famous for the Princess Juliana International Airport where the planes fly right over your head on the beach. Of course, we had to visit this beach, and we ate lunch while watching the planes fly into the airport.

St. Lucia has mountains, banana plantations, beautiful beaches and it’s lushly tropical.

Grenada is the spice island! It produces vast quantities of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and more.

Barbados has gorgeous beaches with British charm. This island was one of my favorites!

Dominica is known for its rugged terrain, volcanic activity, pristine coral reef, and its untouched tropical rainforests. It has over 364 rivers and 200 waterfalls.

St. Kitt is the larger of the 2 Caribbean islands that comprise the nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. It’s known for rainforested mountains and beaches of white, gray, and black sands.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and, Instagram.

Beauty For The Heart~~

One of the sweetest things on our vacation was seeing so many beautiful rainbows from our balcony. It was a constant reminder for me that no matter where we go, God is with us!! And boy has He created a beautiful world.

Have a blessed day!

  1. You mentioned that you used Viator to book all your tours – they are amazing as we used them in Dubai last year for our vacation. We even had to cancel once excursion and it was not an issue to get a refund.

Have not taken a cruise in years but all your pics make me want to book asap!

    1. Hi Cyndi
I wanted to know the condition your Monogrammed luggage by Mark& Graham did while traveling? I’m on the fence about purchasing one. I’ve traveled enough to know that luggage gets a beating from getting placed on the plane and off. Thank you for your time and help. Sincerely Rebecca

  2. Hi Cyndi,
I was really excited to see this post! My husband and I have done Celebrity Aqua class many times!! We love to cruise and go every February. You guys look like Honeymooners in you pics!

  3. Thank you so much for recapping your cruise. I love all your pics. You guys look so happy. My favorite dress was the embroidered maxi dress. You have inspired me to take another cruise as I am a bit anxious about cruising and we were invited to go on a 7 day Caribbean cruise in Oct with some good friends. They booked a two bedroom with all the upgrades so it’s a great opportunity but I am scared 😟 of getting sea sick and of all the other bad things that I hear happen on cruise ships and lastly leaving my 23 year old daughter home alone. I’ve been praying for strength to go out and enjoy life and putting it all in God’s hands.

  4. I’ve been looking forward to this post and you did not disappoint! I’m onboard ( no pun intended) with a 12 day cruise 🚢. Your outfits were perfect. Would you do the same type of cruise line again? E.g. older less party type crowd.

  5. Cyndi, Other than the cosmetic bag you mentioned, did you pack a “tolietry” bag too OR did this hold all of your bathroom items?

    1. I did pack a toiletry bag and that was a large ziploc bag. I put my shampoo and stuff in there so it doesn’t get on my clothes. #fancy

  6. Loved hearing about your trip – husband and i want to do our first cruise so will probably follow all your advice in booking. Your outfits as usual were beautiful – Thank you so much for introducing me to Evereve and Social Threads – love them and all your styles you choose.

  7. I absolutely love all the looks. The bathing suits well I am not that toned yet. Lol
My faves are the Maxi dresses. I need those for my trip to AZ the end of this month. You look so good in everything. Thanks for your help!!
    God bless xo

  8. You look wonderful in every photo! We are thinking of going on a cruise. I’m wondering what you wore to the dinners each night on the ship. Was it dressy, or more casual for dinner?

    Thanks!
    Mindy

  9. You look gorgeous in each picture, Cyndi!
I agree with you, that if you’ve never been on a cruise before to take a shorter one. Our first cruise was for 5 days. I fell in LOVE with cruising, but it does help to figure out what works for you when on a ship. We’ve always cruised on Royal Caribbean and have always been very pleased. We’re planning our next cruise now. We too, enjoy going during the winter to escape the cold, gray days. However, after seeing your beautiful pictures, I’m ready to go NOW!! Ha!

  10. Cyndi, thank you so much for sharing about your cruise. It looks like an amazing trip! You look beautiful in each picture!

I realize it was probably always pretty warm, but was wondering if the dark dresses tended to make you even warmer in the sun. Or maybe you wore them mostly at night?

  11. Hi Cyndi! Thanks for sharing about your trip and your outfits. My husband and I just returned from our 7 day cruise (Celebrity Equinox), so this is our first (rainy) Monday back. I admit I’m really missing those turquoise waters and blue skies this morning! We’re planning on scheduling another cruise for sure, but next time a longer one. Our favorite place we visited was St. John. We traveled there by boat from St. Thomas and went snorkeling at Turk Bay. I definitely over packed for our cruise, so next time I’ll take fewer items. The blue jumpsuit from Evereve was one of my favorites, so thanks for the recommendation! Blessings to you! I always look forward to reading your posts!

    1. I’m so glad you all had a good time!! I’m with you, I miss the beauty of the water.
We had that same excursion planned to St. Thomas because we heard that was amazing but they canceled on us because not enough people were signed up. We were disappointed but did another excursion.
We will get there next time!

  12. Hey Cyndi. Thank you for sharing your vacation with us. This looks like the ideal cruise. It’s on my bucket list to go, hopefully this year. All of your outfits are gorgeous. You are so small and everything looked fantastic on you. I know you are happy having your daughter move closer to you. I say the closer the better. Love your blog. Keep up the good work! Many Blessings! –Linda

  13. WOW! what a fantastic trip. Yes, what a beautiful world our Lord created for us to enjoy. Thank you for sharing all of your adventures, and you looked so put together in every photo. I’m still laughing about the “noodle” snorkeling mishap you shared on IG.

  14. Thank you for sharing about your trip. Loved all your outfits and what beautiful places you got to see. How wonderful that your daughter and family will be even closer 🤗. We build our houses so I love looking at houses too for ideas:)
    Blessings
    Karen

  15. Really enjoyed this post! My husband and I both love cruising, too. Barbados is one of my favorite islands, also. I love the Caribbean to get away from the cold of Ohio in winter and we go almost every year since we retired, but to me Alaska is the ultimate cruise and do go inland if at all possible. It is soooo beautiful! Denali National Park is probably my favorite! Love your encouragement

  16. Cyndi, I think you’ve said recently that you have curly/wavy hair. I do, too, and anticipate finding it hard to manage in the upcoming summer months. How did you keep your hair looking so awesome while in the Caribbean? Did you have to battle humidity and sea air? I’m just wondering b/c this is the first summer that I’ll have long hair, past my shoulders (just), and i’m worried how it’ll look in Ohio’s humid weather. I barely manged my short hair before this! Please give me a few hints. Thank you!

    1. Joan, I have very straight hair but the humidity does bother it because it gets frizzy, Although I didn’t notice it on the cruise.

  17. Loved reading about your cruise! We hope to take a vacation to a warm destination next winter so learning about a cruise was super helpful during this planning/ saving period.
I cannot wait for the day you get your own collection with Gibson. I am quite certain that I will be purchasing every piece!

  18. Hi! I love your blog!! I am thinking about getting a high neck swim suit this year for the first time. I noticed you still wore dresses and tops with a V-neck and scoop outline. Did the high neck swim suit not give you a weird tan line?

I appreciate your work and keeping all of us without a clue about style in the loop.

    Many blessings to you,
    Teresa

    1. I didn’t notice a weird tan line because I wore different suits. I also don’t lay out that much anymore. I try not to get too much sun.
