Happy hump day, ladies! Despite everything going on in the world right now, Jo-Lynne and I have decided to continue with our 22 Days of Summer Fashion series. We hope our posts provide a light distraction from all the heaviness in the news.
Today I’m sharing a summer jumpsuit from Old Navy. Jumpsuits are everywhere this year, and I am a big fan, especially when they are as comfortable as this one.
Old Navy has the ‘Breathe ON’ line of clothing. ‘Breathe ON’ is a super lightweight line of clothing that is a polyester and spandex mix.
This jumpsuit comes in three colors, and unfortunately, they are selling out quickly! The jumpsuit also comes in plus size.
It has a v-neck in the front and back, but you can wear a regular bra.
I purchased my wedge sandals at EVEREVE, but Zappos has them, and they’re slightly cheaper.
This jumpsuit looks great with a denim jacket.

Wow. A lot of good and interesting comments. I have to admit I have been avoiding many aspects of social media over the last week, but I am glad I clicked on your email and read your blog today. I feel the media has created an atmosphere of Black and White everything; not just people. The media
labels us and then they define us to the world based on that label. If the media labels us ‘liberal’, then we are automatically this, this and this. If the media labels us ‘conservative’, then we are automatically this, this and this. The media has taken the color out of the world, which is taking the being human, out of human beings. We are instead being manipulated, misrepresented and misunderstood. For one outlet to decide what defines fighting racism and then deciding that whoever disagrees with that decision is racist, is itself lacking in the unity and love needed to allow others to think for themselves, to respond for themselves, to the injustices before us every day everywhere.

Cyndy, those who’ve followed you for a while know your heart and your desire to spread God’s love to ALL people. I doubt if anyone would critisize you for not having a black screen. But I suppose in this electronic era there may be a few. Ignore them! I’m actually glad you took the black screen down. I know folks are trying to be empatetic, but really, how is a black screen really going to help anyone? I bet some will say to promote awareness but I’d say the WHOLE WORLD is already well aware of our recent incidents and the dilemas
associated with them.
The black squares were an uncomfortable reminder of how our country still struggles with systemic racism. Maybe it’s time to feel uncomfortable and open our eyes to what’s happening. I prayed to God and that’s what he told me to say. All lives can’t matter until black lives matter. #wwjd

I want to begin by saying that I REALLY enjoy your blog for all the fashion, beauty and love it brings to the fore. You’re obviously a kind and caring individual who is firm in your Christian beliefs – I think that’s wonderful! Having said that, however, I wonder why it would be difficult to post a blackout square? Am I missing something? I don’t know much about the Bible, but doesn’t Genesis teach Christians that each person is created in the image of God, directly implying that every person is by nature of value and worth? Is it Luke that says something about rejoicing in the freedom of the oppressed?
Please know that I respect your decision although I don’t quite understand the consternation. But, you’re right – I don’t come to you for the news, I come to you for the fashion – and, you do a fantastic job of that! I’m not perfect and I hope you can receive my comments with the generosity of spirit with which they were written.

Some said it was doing more harm. There are so many points of view,
So out of respect I kept quiet yesterday and used my time to pray.

So even inwhen I fai and even with all that is going on He can accomplish his purpose and I believe we are going to see some amazing things during this dark season.

I learned that if rompers run short on you to order a tall. Old navy has tall sizes and since these are cropped they will not need to be hemmed
Cyndi, the facts that you struggled with your decision, fearing to do harm, and that you prayed for America on a very dark day, say more to me about your heart than a black box ever could.
I don’t know anyone who isn’t appalled by Mr. Floyd’s death. It undermines that unity to insist that others fall in line with certain positions or be guilted and shamed. The power of social media makes the pressure worse.
Americans have lots of hard work ahead to seek justice and put this country back together again. I doubt black boxes are going to help much with this. Keep up the good work you do according to your own conscience. I look forward to your posts!

Cyndi, I don’t think I’ve ever commented here, but I wanted to reach out in solidarity to you as your post touched me. I don’t have a blog or a platform but, like you, I did not post a black square. If someone else’s idea of supporting the black community is posting a black square, then more power to them. However, feeling pressured to post something on social media because others think it’s the thing to do
goes against my grain. I am completely against police brutality and unequal treatment toward the black community or any other race or group. I have chosen to support others by living a life of embracing and accepting all others.
If I saw an instance of bias, I hope I would step in. People who judge
others, shame others and call others names, such as racist, for not posting a black square on social media, are themselves exhibiting a form of bigotry. I think it’s a terrible trend to make anyone feel compelled to post or judged if they don’t post. Claiming that someone who is silent (on social media?) is a racist is a very careless statement! Just because someone made this statement and others have chosen to repeat it umpteen times does not make it a fact. You can be silent in many ways and you can speak up in many ways. You, Cyndi, speak out with your heart on a daily basis. That should be good enough and that IS more than good enough. Love and acceptance and tolerance are very far reaching, much farther reaching than any single social media post. I’m glad you took your post down. (also, I prefer not to mix news/ social justice issues with blogs that I follow for fashion or any other reason.). Keep being you.

Cyndi, darling, I absolutely love you, and you are soooo right–Jesus is the answer. He is the ONLY answer to evil that would divide us and crush us. He is Love and Unity and Grace, and he has more than enough of all that for each and every one of us here on Earth, all the time. We all must do what we believe is the right and moral thing, but I, personally, feel like when I’m told that I have to do something or else I’m a bad person, that’s both a lie and a trap. It can only divide. The only one I have to please is God, and I hope I am the sum total of my choices across time, not defined by someone else’s idea for a single day, or any limited period of time (because we all fall short). Strength in unity, not division. Strength in grace-filled and loving communication, not void silence. Strength through Jesus Christ. You keep shining that light for Jesus!

Cyndi, I’m sorry that people try to make you feel guilty for not doing what they think you should do. There’s way too much culture out which says that if you don’t do a certain thing, then you don’t care, even if that thing is arbitrary. I also believe you can support the protests but condemn the destruction. While they’re intertwined, they aren’t the same thing. Even George Floyd’s family says that the destruction doesn’t honor him.
I think people also forget this blog is your job. You make your living through it and while some might consider fashion frivolous, it also helps women feel better about themselves, not just outwardly but spiritually. You honor God through it as well, which is really what keeps many of us coming back.
As for me, I didn’t even know the black box was going on until late in the day. Just because I didn’t post one doesn’t mean I don’t care.

Interesting comments on your blog today. As a white Christian woman, I have to acknowledge that my silence on the matter of justice for POC grieves the heart of God. As a believer I feel your sentiments and understand exactly what you are saying. Only Jesus’s love is the answer to all of this hate. I get why many put the black out page up yesterday however I don’t think anyone should feel pressured nor judged if they didn’t. It doesn’t mean you’re racist. I feel like social media is more and more being hijacked by people wanting to make political or other statements. We go on here to check out fashion, beauty, home and food info. Cyndi I have been following you for years now, and I know your heart and where you are coming from. I am sorry you were made to feel that way yesterday and I am sure as a blogger you were not alone. I was amazed at the criticism given to the many bloggers and hurtful words that were said. I have never know these types of fashion blogs to have the need to take political stands or otherwise. At the end of the day, we have to follow what God calls us to do. So many of the organizations and ppl we follow like pb31, priscilla shirer etc all did the samething blackout. I also did it and believe that it said something good about what I stand for.

Cyndi, thank you for sharing your thought process. I am too much of an individualist to get into these mass virtue signalling rituals. For years, I’ve avoided all the Facebook change your profile to this or that…it just seems feckless to me. I stay away from all of them and try to figure out what I can do and what feels right to me. For instance, sometimes I make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital since that helps all races and all people and I can do it quietly and don’t feel I have to show everyone on social media. It’s just my way that I try to make a small difference. Oh, and I love the outfit.

Thank you to both you and Wayne for seeking the Lord in a difficult position and decision for your Blog yesterday. Usually when we don’t know what to do, it’s good just to be still and lean on Jesus (Ps. 46:10). It was a heavy day yesterday. I stayed home all day praying and resting in Him. Super cute jumpsuit – I was looking at this one the other day but didn’t pull the pin. I am a pear shape, so will have to buy to fit the bottom, would you say this fits a bit larger on the bottom or like your usual size?
This is a scary time in America. Seems like we are all calling out for normalcy, unity, justice, kindness, Respect and the list goes on. All have different ideas of what these words look like in action.

I know exactly how you felt yesterday. I am a teacher in a Catholic school and wanted to support my former students. After I put blackoutTuesday up I read it may be doing more damage. I spoke with one of my students and he knows my heart. The conversation ended with I love you. I am sharing because we know your heart and love for people and Jesus. We just wanted to support, obviously not the violence, but to show Our support and love.
I unfollowed so many bloggers yesterday. Sorry but I come here for fashion and faith and you, dear Cyndi are why I come here! I don’t know your politics nor do I care but when I see someone’s politics seep through their blogs I stop going to their sites, especially when they aren’t sure why they’re doing it. I pray for world leaders – every one of them right or left, police, blacks…we are in a no-win situation at the moment. Please don’t feel pressure to do anything but what this blog was designed to do – I’ll get my politics elsewhere.
I was trying to come up with a comment to express how I feel too. Jessie, You hit a home run as far as I am concerned. Don’t be so hard on yourself. None of us know what is right or what to do in this situation in these times. As I said to Jo-Lynne yesterday:
As a white person in Northern Canada I am not exposed to a large community of people of colour. I am horrified by what is going on in that USA but I also know we in Canada are not above racism either. Being open to listening and learning is a great step we all can take together.
I pray for the Good and honest Police officers everywhere. I pray for the peaceful protestors. And I pray for everyone marginalized by the colour of their skin, their religion or their sex. I pray for your country and mine as we go through this double whammy of covid 19 and rioting.
I know that you have a kind heart, Cyndi. I don’t think social media should make anyone feel pressured in any way. We all express ourselves differently. That is the downside of social media…you have to conform to sit at the “cool table”! I love your blog…no pressure from me, sweetie!

I love your blog and I agree we still need happy things in our life. I don’t agree with the person that wrote if you aren’t part of the solution you are part of the problem. I understand their reason they posted the black but is that all they are doing? Does it really help. I also heard that it could cause more damage. What are these people doing to help besides post a black square? I too love Christ and do my best to be a good person. My son is a photographer and went to a protest to take pictures and it turned violent. He went and stood with shop owners and bar owners, some were black, as they tried to protect their businesses. The didn’t agree with the violence. He was also criticized on his social media because he posted some incredible heart wrenching photos from the protest instead of the black out. His response was, where were you. If your just sitting behind your keyboard criticizing others what good does that do. The protests that are peaceful are great and it is only a few that turn them violent and they don’t care about any lives. We have traveled out of the country and done humanitarian in other countries and the one thing that has taught me and keeps me going is that it doesn’t matter what color you are. When you get in remote other countries and see how much poverty and injustice there is, it changes you. I don’t pretend to know what people endure on a day to day basis as far as racism but I know that my children are trying to teach their children different. My grandkids really don’t see color because most of them were raised in another country or state and best friends were different color or race. I believe it starts with love and we all have to do our part. I might not have said all this exactly how I feel but let’s all do better and not criticize because someone chooses not to post the black out. Doesn’t mean their heart doesn’t hurt for what is going on in the world.

Thank you for staying true to yourself and not just jumping on the bandwagon because someone says you should and you feel pressured to do something your not comfortable with. This shouldn’t be a political site – I can get that on TV. My heart breaks for what is going on in our country. I think we should stop and get on our knees and pray to our Lord and Savior for forgiveness and direction.
I have to honestly admit I was disappointed when you and jo-Lynne didn’t post yesterday and not to be disrespectful but because I so want to try and get back to some sort of normalcy in life and yes like you said, there is so much heavy news and I needed a little distraction but respect your decision. Thank you for this post. I was also conflicted by the #blackouttuesday. I didn’t quite understand how it would help. I am not a racist and I don’t for one minute believe you are. I am against any type of racism or police brutality.
As usual, you look amazing in the jumpsuit. Being shorter waisted, I can’t wear them but love the look of them.

If it helps any, I personally felt like the black squares were not helpful. What is helpful is printing the words of John 3:16, because without that, there is no real change, peace or unity. A broken world needs the hope of the Gospel. Blessings.

I did read your entire post and the reason some say posting black squares was because it was preventing news from being shared. You seem like a lovely, sincere person but it’s not difficult for me to know how I feel about racism. I have joined a group to host black families in my home in order to better understand the issues.
