Top 10 Wearable Fall 2022 Fashion Trends

Hi ladies! It’s time to look ahead and see what’s trending for fall 2022, and you know I get giddy when looking at trends. There are a lot of trends to share, but I picked the Top 10 Wearable Fall 2022 Fashion Trends.

These are the trends that I like and think women over 40 can wear and feel confident in. I skipped the mini skirts, corset belts, and patchwork pants.

As with any trend, you need to consider your lifestyle, personal style, and body type. Nothing says you have to wear any trends, but if you like to wear a few trendy pieces, pick the ones you love and have fun!

Top 10 Wearable Fall 2022 Fashion Trends

1. Dopamine Dressing • When I first heard this term a few months ago, I had to look it up, but it’s basically wearing bright colors, and they are trending for fall. These are non-fall colors, and really, any bright color is in. You can color block them or pair a fall color with them but look for some bright colors this fall.

2. Leather & Faux Leather • Leather has been trending for a couple of seasons, and I think it will still be around this year. There are leather skirts, leggings, blazers, coats, etc.

3. Tank Tops • Tank Tops are having a moment this season. It doesn’t mean you have to wear it by itself but think under blazers and cardigans, and they also look great with wider jeans and trousers.

4. Flare Denim • Straight and boot-cut jeans are still on trend, but flares seem to be really trending for fall. Also, I’ve noticed side slits in a lot of jeans, so we’ll see if that takes off this fall and winter.

5. Bomber Jackets • They’re slightly more oversized this year, but these are going to be on trend for fall.

6. Maxi Dresses and Skirts • I’m seeing lots of maxi dresses and skirts, and they’re more streamlined for the fall season.

7. Corporate Styling • Think matching jacket and trousers. You can wear classic pieces together or mix and match with other pieces in your wardrobe.

8. Boot TrendsWestern Style Boots and Chunky Style Boots are showing up for fall. My favorite is the western-style boots; they look cute with dresses and denim.

9. Black, Caramel, And Cream Colors • I know black is a classic, but it seems to be trending this fall, especially an all black outfit. I also see a lot of caramel and cream colors. This dress I purchased during the Nordstrom sale is a perfect example.

10. Sporty Fashion • Dresses and skirts with sneakers, varsity jackets, and tracksuits are all popular for fall.

  1. Hi Cyndi,

I love western style boots… always have. I even wore them for my wedding! I’ve never been able to figure out how to wear them casually without looking frumpy. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

  2. Would love to see several options for flare jeans – prefer not too wide of a flare. Also good price points please! The flare and boot cut are best styles for me. Some of us are happy that skinny jeans are “out”. I can’t stand the clinging on my big calves! And I’m not overweight, just have chunkier legs than most women.

  3. Thanks for sharing! There are some very wearable trends!
Enjoy your time in Maine. I’m in Massachusetts. Not sure where you’re going but Acadia National park is beautiful, Boothbay Harbor is lovely, Kennebunkport and Portland are also great. Portsmouth NH is a great town to walk around as well and right on the Maine border. I haven’t been in years but we used to take annual trips to Kittery for shopping that outlets. I’m sure JoLynne has given you recommendations.
Maine lobster rolls aren’t usually hot. They’re usually cold with Mayo. Connecticut style are hot with butter. Enjoy!!

    1. I hope you have packed some warm clothing. It is chilly this time of year in the morning and evenings. Rain coat/hiking shoe a must! Make sure to stop at LL. Bean. It’s huge and fun to walk around. Everything Gina said is spot on. Arcadia is beautiful and the views well you’ll see.

  4. I don’t like any of the trends. I do like camel and caramel colors but I wear them all the time so for me they are not trends. I can’t wait till fitted styles come back in. I’m small and petite so oversized clothing looks terrible on me. I only dress that way at home. I’m too old for flares but I will wear wide leg if they are not over the top.

I went to Maine in August before and the weather was nice. It actually was in the 80s in the afternoon. Cool mornings and evenings. I think it’s a beautiful state to visit. Praying God sends us an early cold front. Two months of 100 plus is getting old.

  5. Maine in August should not be cold! It’s weather is very similar to ours in NS! It can be hot and humid. It might be cool in the evening especially if you’re outdoors and camping! I’ve taken winter jackets in November to Maine and don’t always need them depending on the weather! A rain jacket is a good idea! But as long as you’ve got jeans, joggers, and hoodie you should be fine if it’s a cool day!
We love traveling along route 1 straight through to kittery! very scenic and not as busy as the highway! Bar harbor is a quaint little place to visit too!

  6. I’ve never been cold in Maine in August! We often go end of October and the evenings can get chilly, but not super cold. Camden is one of our favorite spots.

  7. You will LOVE Maine in August. Our whole family went when our kids were in middle school. Some not to be missed things to do: climb up Gorham Mtn to pick wild blueberries and then have lunch at the Jordan Pond Tearoom (both in Acadia Natl Park). Two of my favorite little towns are Camden and Boothbay Harbor on Rt 1. Best vacation we ever took (even better than Maui!!). Enjoy!!

  8. One of our favorite vacations was throughout New England. We loved it!
Gotta say, I like every fall trend You featured here!

  9. We also love traveling in our RV and Maine is on our list for next year. I would appreciate any feedback from you on the RV parks where you will stay – I realize from a safety standpoint that you may not want to divulge info as you go but I would so appreciate some recs on parks. thanks so much

    1. So basically, the 90’s are calling, wanting their styles back because they are updated and fresh 😂. Wish I’d saved my leather blazer and bomber jacket! Love the jeans. Looking forward to you styling them.

  10. We are going to Maine in a few weeks too. We own a house in Edgecomb (midcoast). It’s our happy place. We typically drive from Western NY to the house 1 week per month. We plan to stay for 2 weeks on this trip, so excited! As for winter up there, being on the coast, it actually is milder than Western NY (Oswego area). We have found that the weather can be tricky when you have a steep driveway and ice can collect in places you don’t want to drive over. Yikes! Enjoy your time in our beautiful State of ME?

  11. Morning! Great post with wearable fall fashion! Yeah for jeans that make legs go on forever! Ha! I can’t wait to see how you style them! If you want a traditional New England clambake I would try Booth Bay Harbor Cabbage Island clambake. So much fun!🦞
