Tips On Looking Your Best After 40

Happy hump day! How is your week going? Today I’m sharing tips on looking your best after 40.

It’s never too late to enhance your beauty! At this stage, it’s about prevention and maintenance.

Start by making one change that will make you feel better about yourself, whether it’s changing your food choices, drinking more water, picking up a new blush, etc.

Here are some tips that will help you look and feel your best:

1. Protect Your Skin · Wear sunscreen every day because we know the sun damages our skin. This is the first step in preventing the aging process. While having a tan is nice, there are better ways to get a tan than damaging your skin.

2. Don’t Skip Skincare · Find products that work well with your skin and use them every day. Make sure you use them on your neck, chest area, and the back of your hands.

3. Take Time To Moisturize · After a shower, gently pat your skin dry, leaving it slightly wet, and then seal it with a good body lotion. Also for exfoliation, try this Deep Exfoliating Mitt.

4. Make Healthy Choices · Drink water and limit sugar. Choose fresh when you can. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. If you mess up, start over the next day.

5. Stay Active · Covid has made it hard for all of us to stay active. Do whatever you can to stay as active as possible. Walk around your house, take a walk outside (if it’s not freezing). Most importantly….move your body!

5. Change up your make-up · We all get in a rut, but if you’ve been doing your makeup the same way you did in your 20s or 30s, it might be nice to change it up.

I recently shared this video on Instagram on how I’m doing my eyeliner and mascara.

Here are the products I used: (The Beautycounter eyeshadow palette is sold out.)

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

What have you done lately to feel better?

  1. Hi Cyndi I love following your page. It helps to not feel so old. LOL I have not always been so great at taking care of my skin and I am finding that it is super important. I was wondering what you use for your skincare regimen.

  2. I think that taking care of your teeth, and keeping them white might be added to the list. Smiling helps someone’s appearance, as well, and having white teeth makes smiling easier when they look nice.

  3. I wondered how you got inbetween the lashes with pencil without going under tight lining them. I use to wear contacts and tight lining them caused some trouble when I started wearing a really thin delicate contact. Now I don’t wear anything as I had cathartic surgery and am fine with nothing. I need to give it a try and see if tight lining them or just doing the pencil inbetween the lashes would thicken them up better. I recently started using a waterproof glide on pencil in a dark navy – have blue eyes. Thanks for sharing your tips and video!!!

    1. Such great reminders. You are beautiful inside and out. Thanks for the video. I’m going to try the upper eye method of lining. I don’t line upper now at all but think it may help my eyes pop more as I wear glasses. Ive always did lower lining and didn’t know if I should. Have been told it is too harsh for older woman. I feel bare without it. :). I struggle with sunscreen daily as it feels greasy to me and I don’t like the feel. I use to have it in my foundation but now I use a clean version foundation and it doesn’t. Need to just make myself add mineral sunscreen to my foundation. Thanks

  4. Thank you so much for the eyeliner video! What a great change that has been for me! I wear glasses and have small but dark eyes. Applying black eyeliner the way you showed us has really made me look brighter. (My daughters noticed!😁)
The other change I have made thanks to all the encouragement to move your body from both you and Jo-Lynne is getting back in the pool. It has been so fun to lap swim in the early mornings with all the older folks. I have been inspired by them and have made new friends!

  5. Anytime I use eyeliner, even waterproof, it ends up smearing. What are your tricks to keep this from happening? Any brands you would recommend?
    Love your posts each day❣️

  6. Hi Cyndi
I love your posts and look forward to them everyday. Thank you. I remember a couple weeks ago you mentioned collagen that you take. Can you tell me which one you use?
    Thanks

  7. Thank you for the great reminders! I’m going to try the body lotion and lipstick! I appreciate your posts!

  8. Thank you for these reminders, Cyndi! Beauty does begin on the inside. Ever thought about when you get to know someone, you see them differently?

  9. I want to thank you for the makeup tip on Instagram because I tried using my liner under my lid and boy did it help. I have very small eyes and sparse lashes so they helped my eyes pop. I use to line the top and bottom but it just made my eyes look smaller.
One thing that really helps me is going yo my workout class twice a week and I am trying to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. I also ordered a Prayer Journal for Women on Amazon and it really helps to start off my day.
