My husband reminds me all the time not to fear or worry about things that have not happened and may not ever happen. I know he’s right but sometimes it’s easier said than done.
Fear is the opposite of faith. Fear is a tool the devil uses against us to make us miserable and it can destroy our lives.
“God wants us to walk by faith, and Satan wants us to walk by fear.” -Joyce Meyer
I have learned when I start feeling fearful I need to start reading scriptures that can calm my fears and remind me that Jesus is in control. Nothing is a surprise to Him!
So today if you have something that you are fearful about or feeling anxious over, read His word. Know that if Jesus is powerful enough to calm a storm (Mark 4:35-40), He can and will calm our fears.
Here are some scriptures that speak to me when I am fearful:
- For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2Timothy 1:7
- So we can say with confidence “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” Hebrews 13:6
- Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things? Luke 12:25-26
- Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Today, know that with Jesus we have nothing to fear!
Do you have a scripture that helps you when you are fearful?
This song resonates with me when I have gone through a difficult season. There comes a point when we have to let go and keep on living life!
Have a blessed Sunday!
