How to be Okay Even When Things Aren’t Okay

Happy Sunday sweet friends! I love Sundays. It’s not only when I get to worship corporately with the body of Christ, but it’s also a day to rest. To rest my mind, to rest my soul, to rest my body, and to prepare for the week ahead.

I shared with you on Friday this quote by Rich Mullins on why we go to church, and it reminds me today that I go confessing I don’t have it all together.

“I never understood why going to church made you a hypocrite, because nobody goes to church because they’re perfect. If you’ve got it all together, you don’t need to go. You can go jogging with all the other perfect people on Sunday morning.

Every time you go to church you are confessing again to yourself, to your family, to the people you pass on the way there, to the people who will greet you there, that you don’t have it all together. And that you need their support. You need their direction. You need some accountability; you need some help.”

I also found a video from Ann Voscamp that brought tears to my eyes, so I knew I had to share it with you. It’s called, How to be Okay Even When Things Aren’t Okay.

My guess is most of us have lived long enough to experience brokenness and hurt. Each of ours is different, but you are not alone. We’ve all been hurt; we’ve all experienced pain and brokenness.

You aren’t the one person who has done more than what God can forgive, or you haven’t gone through the one thing that God can’t redeem.

Trust me, from someone who has messed up and also experienced deep hurts; GOD IS MORE THAN ENOUGH.

While I understand that when you are in the midst of a difficult season, the pain can seem overwhelming but you will get to the other side and when you do, you CAN and WILL be whole again.

So today ladies choose joy. Know that God is for YOU. Don’t let the enemy steal, kill, and destroy! Stand firm, you’ve got this. I’m praying for YOU.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and, Instagram.

Have a blessed day!

  20. Only one of the many reasons I follow you is your Christian Faith. I am a youth minister in a Catholic parish, and Sunday is a long work day for me but I also get to attend Mass twice with the different ministries I coordinate. You are so right about the reason we are all in church. We are broken and are seeking His grace and mercy. Thank you for sharing your faith with us

  23. Thank you for the beautiful and important reminder of God’s forgiveness and redemption. It is a powerful message that we all should carry with us. Enjoy your day of rest!

  24. Thanks for the reminder! When my friends tease me about going to church, I always tell them that I I don’t go to church because I think I’m perfect, I go to church because i know I’m broken and I need a little help. It’s good to know that I’m on the right track. (And, by the way, I also run on Sundays after church, that must be when all the imperfect people run!)
