God Always Keeps His Promises

Our youngest granddaughter Caroline was born on July 26th, two months before her due date. She weighed 3 lbs. 12 ounces and spent 41 days in the NICU.

There were some scary days while she was in the NICU, but thankfully, Caroline will be two next week, and she is a happy toddler!

Those weeks after she was delivered were hard for Courtney, our daughter, and AJ, our son-in-law. She and AJ would go every day and visit with Caroline, and we would keep Colt and Claire.

Caroline’s delivery had been difficult, and if they had not delivered her when they did, she wouldn’t be here today. Courtney also had to have an emergency hysterectomy.

Courtney sent me this picture of Colt and Claire playing in the backyard a few weeks ago. She had taken it while Caroline was in the NICU. She said she remembered taking the picture but had not noticed the rainbow.

She was struggling with postpartum depression from the delivery and Caroline being at the NICU, and she didn’t see God’s promise in this picture until now.

Sometimes when we’re going through a difficult season, we wonder if  God knows and cares. But he’s with us through every season; sometimes, we need to look around and see His blessings, like that rainbow in the picture.

In Genesis 9, God sealed His promise with a rainbow in the sky. In the midst of the devastation from the flood of judgment, there was a beautiful rainbow in the sky, symbolizing God’s gracious promise never to flood the whole earth again.

Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth. Genesis 9:16

God didn’t promise we will never experience storms, but He has promised He will be with us during them. Today, look around and see the blessings around you. Storms will come, but thankfully we have a Savior who never leaves us.

When Courtney would drive to the hospital to see Caroline, she told me she would play this song and pray for sweet Caroline.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

Let your beauty shine from the inside out today!

  1. We sing this song at church; it’s one of my favorites. When we lean on Him he always gets us through no matter what trials we may face.

  2. Thank you for sharing. What a beautiful testimony to Gods goodness, providing grace and blessings- always.

  3. Thank you for sharing this story. My family is currently going through a similar struggle. My newest granddaughter was born at 29 weeks, weighing only 1 lb 12 oz.
She has been in the NICU for 6 weeks. Right now she weighs about 3 1/2 lbs.
There are ups and downs almost daily as you know. We have gotten through with the prayers, love, and support of family, friends and even strangers.
She is not out of the woods yet and will likely be in the NICU another month or more.
Stories like your granddaughter’s help us to have hope that our baby will continue to grow bigger and stronger and one day be a healthy toddler like Caroline. ❤️

  4. What a beautiful song !! A great testimony of God’s Miracle 😇🙏🏻
Cyndi, you look Beautiful in that picture 😍
    Happy Sunday

  5. Love Gods way of showing His promise in the beautiful colors of the rainbow! Our God is awesome! Thank you for sharing your story ❤️

  6. I have meditated on this song over and over for many years as I have faced a serious trial in my life that my prayer has not yet been answered. We must remember even if our prayer isn’t answered as so many have not in many, that we will see a victory some day. Things don’t always go our way but that’s when our faith grows!

  7. Thank you for sharing your good God stories this week. I have referred you to others this week.
We lost our granddaughter Opal in June 2020 at 2 days. But God blessed us with twins the following year. They are true rainbow babies!

  8. So glad you shared this rough time, and so we can all know Gods faithfulness! Brought tears to me, and will share this story in my prayer group. My last grand child, Mick, was more early in April 2021. He’s completely heathy, but still monthly doctor appts because he’s been below in weight, and speech and hearing appts. It’s shows how precious and they are life before birth.

    1. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story of God’s goodness. He is always faithful and loves to show that to His children! Keep on letting your light shine!

  9. What a beautiful reminder of God’s promises. What a precious family you’ve been blessed with. God is good. I love your fashion but your heart for God is the best. Enjoy making memories in your new home.

  10. Beautiful story, thank you for sharing. My 4th grandchild is in the NICU now, born 8 weeks early and weighed 3 lb 11 oz. He is doing well and gaining weight. His brother was born at 31 weeks and spent 60 days in the NICU. He is now a happy, healthy 3 year old. Thanking God for these 2 miracles!

  11. Oh how I feel for & RELATE TO your daughter! My youngest was 3 -THREE months premature!! She tried to come even earlier than that, so I had a procedure done to try & prevent it & was put on bedrest, until she came a little over a month later at 2 lbs!! TWO!! She was our little miracle! She had people all over the country praying for her..and she fought hard & made it after 3 months of being in the NICU! I also had post-partum depression afterwards & had to drive over an hour to see her as often as I could with a 3-year old at home & my husband working. It’s A LOT. !! So, I can totally relate to what your daughter went through. It IS a tough time, but GOD IS GOOD…all the time!

  12. Such beautiful works Cyndi. I too had a micro-premie, both my angels were as a matter of fact. It is so true that He doesn’t promise there won’t be storms but He promises to be with us during them. What a beautiful song. God bless you abd your family.

  13. I have been going through a difficult season for just over a year. Divorce after a 35 years marriage is very hard! I needed this today. Thanks so much for being God’s messenger through your blog.

  14. Beautiful story and reflections. Thank you for sharing. Much like last week, your experiences and thoughts touch my heart, moved me to tears and inspired me in a big way. I appreciate your heartfelt openness and optimism immensely.

  15. I prayed during this time. I knew you all had a lot. Didn’t know they all had Covid too. So hard. God is good to have given Courtney the rainbow as a reminder and now to be able to celebrate her sweet #2 bday. My daughter had the same story and we all made it through and my granddaughter is strong and healthy and going to be 4 yrs old next month. We too have the behind the scene stories and see God’s goodness. Thank you for sharing. I hope for a more relaxing week for you. Rest up today.

  16. Wow! You all were going through so much and yet you knew where your help and strength comes from!! Praise the Lord for His goodness!! And thank You Jesus for healing Caroline!

    Thank you for sharing!!

    Blessings!

  17. Thank you for this encouragement. Our youngest daughter isn’t walking with Jesus right now. The battle some days is so intense I run and hide in my room and cry out to the Lord. He has promised me a victory. I believe it. But, I definitely cry out more and more when Jesus, when?

  18. Your daughter’s story is about the same as my daughter’s story. Micah was born less than 3 pounds. The NICU nurses said that he was a fighter. He’s 5 now and a live wire. Thank you, Father!🙌

  19. What a mighty God we serve! I to look at a rainbow and remember the promise God made. I could tell you countless times of His goodness and faithfulness. His love, mercy and Grace shower us everywhere/everyday!!!
    Thank you Cyndi for sharing!!❤️❤️

  20. Thank you for sharing. I too had twin girls born 2 months early and like Courtney had a hysterectomy. It was a very scary time. But with many prayers my baby girls are now 40 with beautiful children and lives of their own. We were truly blessed.

  21. God is good. He preserved the life of the baby – thank you Jesus. The minute I saw the photo of the kids playing & the rainbow I thought no wonder she couldn’t see the rainbow – the clouds of worry were blocking it. But some time later she sees that rainbow & is reminded of His faithfulness.

    Thanks for sharing – blessings!!

  22. My mom passed away iMarch of 2022. The year before her dearth she was diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma. She was 99 years old and I live 10 hours from her. She opted to get chemotherapy every 3 weeks for 6 months. We would drive back to get her to those appointments. It was Avery difficult time but I always felt God was with me and providing me and her the strength to keep going. The chemotherapy did kill the cancer, but she passed 6 weeks before her 100th birthday.

  23. Cyndi, you are a blessing to us. Thank you for sharing today. I remember when Caroline was born and am thankful she is a thriving little toddler. God’s Grace is sufficient.

  24. Your story reflects my story 40 years ago. I gave birth to a 3 pound 5 oz baby girl
She remained in the nic unit for two months. I had toxemia. Did not think she would survive. SHe was my first

  25. The picture of you sitting on the rocks is so pretty! Your hair is straight, do you have any layers? Long layers? I’m looking to doing something different with mine! Right now I have lots of layers but want to grow them out! 😊💜🌻

  26. This was a blessing! I just had to put my mom in a Psychiatric place but looking for a nursing home! This is very hard! But I know God is with me! 😊♥️

  27. Thank you for sharing about Caroline & Courtney. God is so faithful! I love when God shows up and gives us signs He is with us. So beautiful! Love that song you shared too. Have a blessed day Cyndi. Can’t wait to see photos of your new home. Glad the painters finished 😉

  28. In a week, I have surgery on my brain to remove a non cancerous tumor. I needed this today God has already shown me in many ways, but this morning, this meant a lot.

    2. What a beautiful story about Courtney and Caroline. Thank you for sharing so tenderly with us. 🥰🙏🏻🌸

  29. What a beautiful testimony of the Lord’s faithfulness in all situations. Thank you for sharing and May the Lord Bless you in your new home. I too just moved out of our home of 27 years. So emotional right?! But God has us and we will be ok.
    Have a happy Sunday 🥰
