His Righteous Right Hand

Recently a friend was flying to California with her two young daughters, and she was feeling anxious about flying. I shared with her that when I’m fearful or anxious, I always pray Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

I told her to ask Jesus to hold the plane with His righteous right hand when she’s flying. I have prayed that many times and it has comforted me when I have felt anxious about flying.

The righteous right hand is a symbol of God’s power and authority. It is the hand that saves, delivers, and upholds God’s people. It is also the hand that judges and destroys God’s enemies.

The righteous right hand is a reminder that God is a just and righteous God.

Here are more verses that talk about the Lord’s right hand.

  • Psalm 138:7: Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand, you save me.
  • Psalm 63:8: I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.
  • Exodus 15:6: Your right hand, O LORD, was majestic in power; your right hand, O LORD, shattered the enemy.

I love that His right hand is a symbol of His power and His right hand holds us. We don’t have to fear because God is in control.

While I don’t live in fear, I see a lot of things going on in our world that can easily make me fearful. You can’t turn the TV on or look at social media without seeing tragic things happening all around us.

No matter what we face or see going on in our world, we can know that God is with us and that He is greater than any fear we face. He will strengthen us and help us, and He will uphold us with His victorious right hand.

Do you have a favorite verse you like to say when you’re feeling anxious?

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

  1. Thank you so much for post. I really really needed to hear and read these words from God. We’ve been struggling so much with our college-age daughters. I needed this reminder that God’s right hand is right there for me. Thank you! Thank you so much!!!

    1. I love your posts; they are so inspiring and great reminders. I struggle with my young adult girls’ distance from their faith. I appreciate you!
Saving this for reference. God Blessed me with a lovely family Sunday. May he continue to bless your family too!

  2. Loved this message! Isaiah 41:10 is the scripture I clung to last year when I underwent a double mastectomy because of breast cancer. God is so good! I totally felt his presence. My other favorite when stressed is Isaiah 49:31. I will remember this promise as I have a second reconstruction surgery in a few weeks. Cyndi, Thanks so much for the encouraging message.

  3. Very encouraging post. Jesus told us many times in the gospels not to be afraid. The one about don’t be afraid of those who can kill the body but he that can send your body and soul to hell comes to mind.

  4. How great you are, sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God like you, as we have heard with our own ears. II Samuel7:22
Enjoyed your post which included some of my favorite and reassuring verses. Happy Sunday.

  5. One of my favorite Bible verses when I am fearful is What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee. Psalm 56:3

  6. Thank you for this! My husband is having kidney cancer surgery tomorrow. I have been feeling anxious these last few days. He will either have his kidney partially removed to remove the tumor or there is a chance he may lose the whole kidney. He has also never been under general anesthesia. I will cling on to all these verses. Thank you!

    1. Praying for your husband & that God will give you a peace that passes all understanding to know that your husband is going to come through this surgery stronger than ever. My mom had kidney cancer & had part of her kidney removed. That was 15 years ago & she has been cancer free! They kept a close watch on her for awhile, but she has since been dismissed from the oncologist. I pray complete healing for your husband as well! 🙏🏻

      1. Thank you for your prayers. Praise the lord, the doctor was able to remove only part of the Kidney and remove the tumor. All went well with the surgery and anesthesia. So he has 1 and 1/2 kidneys now.

    2. I will also be praying Carin for you and for complete healing on your husband. My husband only has one kidney and is at 12% function and we are going through the process of transplant and I am hopeful to be his live donor. I don’t know if your husband has both kidneys but a lot of people can life with only one. I know that doesn’t take away any anxious feelings but maybe give you some encouragment. Praying tomorrow for you.

    3. Caron, I will be praying for you and your husband next week as well. Philippians 4:6-7 is one of my “go to” scriptures
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which passed all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” He will be with you and carry you through.

  7. My verse I say is Phil: 4:6&7. I can’t believe Caroline is already 2 yrs. old. Time is going fast. My premie granddaughter is going to be 4 in August. I’m so excited to go see her for her party. She lives 4 hours from us. It’s hard as they were only 1 hr. 20 min. away a year ago. Still too far as I want to see my grandchildren often. They are such a joy. Isn’t it wonderful to see how God cared for our premie granddaughters and now to see them so healthy. I’m so thankful. Have a great day.

  8. This couldn’t have come at a better time. I am undergoing a procedure tomorrow for cancer that could be life changing. I will be using these verses to help give me strength and comfort. Thank you

  9. That’s a very comforting verse to remember. Thank you! Enjoy all your celebrations in your new home!

  10. Thank you for these words today. What an encouragement that I don’t need to fear that my prodigal will never come back. He holds her with his right hand.

  11. Thank you for your inspirational blog today! I needed to hear these words. These are two verses that I turn to.
“I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me” ~Philippians 4:13
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your path”. ~Proverbs 3:5-6

  12. Thank you for this post! Such an encouragement! I love Psalm 34:8 “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.”

  13. Very inspiring! Happy birthday to Caroline. I remember when she was born. A very difficult time. God kept you and your family strong.

Your sister has been married for 50 years? Do you have more than one sister?

    Congratulations to all!

    1. I was thinking the same thing! How on earth can her sister have been married for 50 years when she looks to be in her 40s!

  14. So good Cyndi!! I have always clung to John 14:27, peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Love when we can celebrate with family!😁

  15. Such a timely reminder for me and one I’ll share with my kids!

(Your sister has been married 50 years?!)

      1. I believe the couple is Wayne’s brother and his wife. So I’m guessing the brother is quite a bit older than Wayne…although I’m not quite sure how old Wayne is. lol I don’t know much! 🙂

        1. It is Wayne’s sister and brother-in-law that celebrated their 50th anniversary!! I was at their celebration. Wayne is the baby!!

  16. Isaiah 35:4 (NLT) “Say to those with fearful hearts, Be strong and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you!”
Thank you Jesus🙌🏻❤️ God is always in control and forever on His throne 🥰

  17. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
    ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

    1. Philippians 6:4. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

  18. Hi Cyndi- so glad to hear you’re making new memories in your new home. Thank you for sharing those verses about fear. I don’t live in fear usually either. I was faced with emergency surgery late Friday evening/Saturday morning and I didn’t know if my kids were going to wake up without a mom or not, the next morning. It was very scary & quick. I’m so thankful I was reminded of the Holy Spirits presence with me and I’m so grateful God isn’t finished with me yet! Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is the Lord who goes before you, He will be with you, he will not fail you nor forsake you. Don’t be afraid, don’t be discouraged” praising God for life today!

  19. Cyndi, God gave me that verse to comfort me before I started chemo several years ago. It’s been my comfort many times since. What a wonderful, powerful verse. There’s so much love and assurance there.
