Seeing God’s Goodness

Yesterday, I was reflecting on the past week and thinking about how I had seen God’s goodness. I can see God’s goodness in every situation, even on the days that didn’t go the way that I had hoped.

Maybe you had a wonderful week, or perhaps this has been one of the most difficult weeks. Your Monday may have started out sunny, but by Friday, everything had changed, and dark clouds seemed to hover over you.

Life is full of ups and downs, and change is inevitable. The one thing I know is God doesn’t change, He’s the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8). In an ever-changing world, that gives me great comfort!

No matter what type of week we’ve had we have to cling to His word because that’s where we’ll find hope and truth.

Here are some verses that remind us of the goodness of God:

  • Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6
  • I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13
  • I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness and sing of Your righteousness. Psalm 145:5-7

I love this quote by Lysa TerKeurst, Shallow seeking will produce shallow believing and leave us vulnerable to falling. But deep seeking will produce deep believing and equip us to stand firm, no matter what comes against us.

I would love to hear how you saw the goodness of God this week.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m also I’m FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

  1. Love these verses about the goodness of God- what an encouragement! Thank you Cyndi for this reminder. One of the things I have resolved to do this year is dig deeper into God’s word- it is the source of everything!

  2. I have seen the goodness of God all month. I just completed a super difficult month long assignment at work. Something I felt under-qualified for which caused a good bit of stress. But God…. He walked me through every step of the way. This has been a difficult time but also a very humbling and super precious time as well.

  3. Whenever I hear her sing this song, it gives me goosebumps. Right there is the goodness in God!!!! Have a blessed evening!

  4. Great message. I love the Psalms especially when going through a hard time. I’m saddened by what some of your readers are going through like the lady who lost her job and has a sick husband. 🙏

  5. “The goodness of God…” He sure is the ONE! Always! Thank you for sharing the video. Have a good week yourself Cyndi!!! Nothing like grandchildren!

  6. I embraced my new baby granddaughter this week and mom and baby are doing well after a couple of minor setbacks. God is good and I feel so blessed in my life!

  7. Hello Cyndi,
Thank you for taking the time in your busy schedule to add a song to your Sunday post. Enjoy your time with your grand daughters.

  8. Hi Cyndi-
I have been following your blog for a long time and, like so many others, have found it be a great source of encouragement over the years. I remember how close you were to your mother and how difficult it was for you when she passed away. My Mom passed away last Sunday after battling dementia for the past 4 years. My husband, Bruce, and I have been taking care of her and it has been very long road for us all, but I thank God that we were able to keep her in her home until the end. I pulled up one of your videos the other day and it happened to be one in which you were talking about your Mom, and about finding peace through Jesus. I just wanted to let you know much a sign like that means to me at this difficult time. Thank you for all that you do to encourage others, and to bring the light of God into people’s lives. Your work means a lot to many people, including me.

    1. Vickie thank you and I am so sorry that your mom passed away. What a blessing that you were able to take care of her. I’m sure that was hard but you honored your mom.

Praying you feel the peace that passes all understanding,
      Cyndi

  9. Super good, timed message here, thank you! I lost my job of 31 years 10 days ago. The company restructured and my whole division was dissolved, and several people lost their jobs. I had worked there for so long, it was like a lifestyle ( I loved it ). To make matters more intense, the company immediately stopped my health insurance on the 31st. My husband is currently still under his doctor’s care, as a Cancer patient (head/neck cancer). I am grateful that he is done with treatments, but the insurance is super important right now. Cobra is available but the costs will be like a mortgage payment per month. There are so many levels of change that it is overwhelming. Thank you for posting CeCe Winans song. That is such a GOOD song/message and such a good reminder of the goodness of God.

    1. Oh Carin I am so sorry! Praying for God to show you clearly what direction to go as you navigate your job loss and trying to find insurance.

      Many blessings,
      Cyndi

    2. Carin I’m so sorry for your job loss and loss of health insurance. There are Christian organizations like Medi-Share and other ones that you can join. They pay your medical bills. I’ve heard them advertised on Christian radio stations like American Family Radio. The cost is a lot cheaper than Cobra. 🙏

  10. Love this song…… one of my favorites. In the midst of my migraine pain this week, he sent friends to encourage and pray for me. I got out to hike in the sun yesteday. Blessing.

  11. My 89 year old dad got critically ill on December 6 and had many times that we thought he might not pull through. We brought him home last Friday and after a week, he is doing well. God has truly blessed him with restored health. Although, not back to where he was, no longer bed ridden. God gets all the praise.

  12. Beautiful message Cyndi. One that was much needed to heal my heart. My husband and I attended two funerals yesterday for our close friends.

  13. In 2022 I had chosen that song to be my song for the year! It’s still one of my favorites and such a testament to what God has done for me since being a little girl! I get teary eyed every time I hear it or we sing it in church.
The book of Psalms was my great grandmother’s favorite book of the Bible! Which has many highlighted verses!
