3 Reasons I Use Essential Oils

**Hey sweet ladies!! I absolutely love sharing about these essential oils and how they’ve helped me with my menopause symptoms.

I am getting an enormous amount of emails and many of the questions you are asking are answered in this post or my post on How I Use Essential Oils

Would you mind reading them entirely and if you still have a specific question, I’ll be happy to help!! Thank you all so much! Let’s get healthy together!

Let’s talk femails issues! Do you feel tired all the time, do you have hot flashes that make you want to strip in public (or am I the only one that feels this way)? Do you dream at night you’re swimming in a pool but when you wake up, you realize you’re soaked in sweat? What about sleep problems?

Have you struggled with mood swings? There were months when my husband avoided me like the plague. The least little thing could set me off. This was not the woman he married.

After months of suffering, I talked to my OBGYN and she shared with me about HRT (hormonal replacement therapy). We discussed the good and the bad and because I felt I had no other choice, I started taking a low dose of hormones.

I did start to feel better but I was never comfortable with taking them. Cancer is prevalent in my family and I was afraid the hormones would increase my risk.

Thankfully, I started researching essential oils. I read of women who were using them and they were helping them with female issues.

3 Reasons I Use Essential Oils For Menopause
I decided to take the plunge and I’m so glad I did! Here are the 3 Reasons I Use Essential Oils For Female Issues:

1. I was scared of Hormone Replacement Therapy. Period. There were too many side effects with HRT and I just didn’t want to take the risk. I tried it for 6 months and worried about it so much that I decided to stop.

My symptoms came back with a vengeance. I wanted to wave a white flag and surrender but I decided to look into alternative medicine.

2. I wanted to take something that had few or no side effects. I couldn’t believe that not only did the essential oils work but they had no side effects.

3. Essential Oils work for me! I can’t say it loud enough, they work for me! You have to find the oil or oils that work for you but when you do, you’re hooked.

Most people who use essential oils will tell you there’s usually one oil that worked so well for them that it convinced them that they really do work.

Which one is that for me? It’s Ylang Ylang. Ylang ylang provides help with circulatory support and emotional balance.

I also use Clary Sage for hot flashes and night sweats. I also use Progessence Plus. Here are Young Living Essential Oils that can help with female issues.

Help For Hormonal Balance
The key is to use the oils regularly! (If you are currently using HRT, you will have to check with your doctor about going off. I’m not a doctor and cannot tell you how to go off of them.)

If you would like to start using Young Living Essential Oils go here to sign up. I highly recommend ordering the Premium Starter Kit and becoming a wholesale member. Then you get all your oils at a 24% discount.

Have a blessed day!

  1. Hi…..can you please explain how you use this oil that decreased menopausal symptoms. Did you blend with a carrier oil, or strictly aromatherapy. Thank you,

    1. The best oil to help with female issues is Progessence Plus. I use it twice a day on my inner arm area. I personally don’t use a carrier oil but you can if you prefer.

  2. Hi ! I’m Rickki, I need help with hot flushes. I am a YL member already. I have tried several. I’m dying of heat and my family is freezing. My air is on 67 and if someone moves it I know as soon as they do. It’s so bad.

    1. Is there any side effects using this oil for night sweats and hot flashes? The progessence plus?

  3. I have had a totl hysterectomy and I have a lot of the symtoms sush as the depression and weight gain tired all the time. which essential oils do you recommend and could you put a few drops of each one into one and make it one to put on into a blend and where do you recommened to put it on.

    1. I had a full hysterectomy like 8 years ago I was on HRT. the doctor took me off due to I had to Tia’s & if a person has any vascular issues they take them off, I need help with emotional stability, cognative, hormonal etc. will this help & is it safe to take ,I’m in my late 46 years old .

  4. I’m low on progesterone and I’ve recently stopped my bio identical. I want to use the essential oils instead. What would you recommend specifically and how would you use /apply them and how often? I know to always mix with a carrier oil. I do not want to ingest them. Thanks in advance. I love your blog!

    1. You really don’ t need to mix with a carrier oil, unless it’s a HOT oil. None of these are. Obviously I’m in search for more info too! I can tell you that Progessence Plus has been a life changer for me! 💕💕💕

      1. Is there any side effects using this oil for night sweats and hot flashes? The progessence plus?

  5. My daughter is 15 ,had her period for 2 yrs.Now is ovarian failure,What do u recommend to get her ovaries working again. She does want children in the distant future ,The MD;s have her on b/C pills but i know r not good so ,I want her off of B/c .I also use and sell EO;s ,but am new to them ,can u help us

    1. My daughter had some issues with periods stopping a couple of years after they started and had pre-endometrial cells show up in biofeedback. We used Dulse, a seaweed extract, and it corrected the problem and has remained corrected to this day, 4 years later. We bought a liquid form and put it in capsules that we bought and she took it daily for several months. Her cycles regulated quickly, but we continued use for another month or two after. I hope this helps. We also use EO’s for a wide variety of things, especially with the mood issues associated with these female problems, but the Dulse fixed the problem.

  6. Hi Cindi, Just wondering as a follow up how you ended up liking the Progessence Plus? I already use a natural progesterone cream and according to the pharmacist it’s perfectly safe to add the ProgessencePlus. I’m 49 and still have my cycle but definitely having issues with mood, depression, sleep and tension(just can’t seem to relax). Would love to hear your experience with it. Thanks so much, really love your blog!

  7. I will def use oils that are food grade. These can be used safely as topical. Need to get a how-to book too.
    Thank you for the information

  8. Thank you for this information! Can you tell me how you use them, where you apply, what carrier oil you use, etc.? That would be a huge help~ thanks!

  9. I love Progessence Plus. It really helps. I also use Lavender! It is my wonder oil and great for so many things. I don’t think that I could sleep without it.

  10. Hey Lisa,
You can order oils without being a wholesale member. Sign up as a retail customer and order the oils you want.
The great thing about the kit, is you get to try so many of the oils and you get that amazing diffuser.
Let me know if I can help in any way.
    cyndi

  11. Christine I use the clary sage and the ylang ylang on the side of my foot and I use them at the same time, morning and night.
I haven’t used the Progessence Plus yet but here’s what I read:
Directions: Apply 2–4 drops 2 times daily on neck area. For added effect, apply 1–2 drops along forearms 2 times daily.
    Blessings,
    Cyndi

  12. Hi Lori,
The oils help because of their smell and the where they’re placed. Having a hysterectomy shouldn’t have any effect on that.
    Blessings,
    Cyndi

  13. Hi Jean,
It can help with depression. Here are some other oils that are known to help with deperession–Joy, Hope, Valor and Lavender.
    Hope that helps!
    Cyndi

  14. Silly Question, it lists, depression on the ylang ylang … Does it help depression symptoms or could cause symptoms? I have suffered from severe depression for years and I can’t afford to make it any worse. Thank you!!

  15. Cynid,
I too am new to essential oils. So if I buy the three you recommend, Clary Sage, Progressence Plus, and Ylang Ylang, do I use all three at the same time, on the side of my foot, or use at different times of day??? Not sure how you use more than one. Thanks for your help!

  16. I used to think I would never use HRT. I am a nurse and I ‘should’ know better, right? Well, let me say that the past year or so has been my worst ever; so much so, that my husband removed the guns from the house. 🙁 Isn’t that sad? I decided a low risk of cancer wasn’t as bad as how I was feeling, and started the low dose Prempro. OMG… I feel like myself again. better than myself!!! I must have been hormone deficient all my life. lol I’m a firm believer in alternative medicine, like the essential oils… but I hope that if anyone goes as low as I did, they will consider HRT. ((hugs)) to all of us!!

  17. Hi Judy,
I don’t know the answer to that. I would check with the people that are giving you the bio-dentical hormones. Of course, they are bias to the hormones.
Sorry I can’t be more help!
    Cyndi

  18. Yes you can Becky. But if you like them, I would definitely order the kit and get that discount. It will save you in the long run.
    blessings,
    Cyndi

  19. Awesome topic. I was able to get off of HRT after ten years by using Progessence Plus. I began to reduce my dosage of estrogen, and woke up one day and realized I’d gone three weeks without taking it…and I was okay! I’ve added clary sage recently to help manage some symptoms that are showing up. And ylang ylang is also always part of my oily repertoire…it’s our official household “happy oil,” especially blended with orange! I’m glad you put this information out there; like you, I just never felt good about HRT, but didn’t have any good way to walk away from it without the crazies ramping up. These oils can make all the difference!

  20. Can essential oils be used in addition to bio-identical hormones? That is, can they be used as a supplement or do I need to discontinue before trying them (oils)? They are helping some but I would still love more aid, especially for sleep. Thanks!

  21. Cyndi,
I too would like to just purchase one or two of the oils, not the whole kit. Can we do that as a retail customer?

  22. For a price comparison of sorts, I have used bioidentical HRT for the past couple of years. It cost $230 to do the initial saliva testing to see exactly what my hormone levels were. I then began paying roughly $65 a month to have a compounding pharmacist mix my prescription hormone creams. While I have had relief from some symptoms, I have noticed other symptoms start to occur–it’s such a delicate balance!

I’m thinking that the essential oil route is definitely something I want to try. It’s natural and no doctor appointments or prescriptions are necessary. Sounds great!

  23. Hi Cyndi. I am excited to give this a try but wondering if I can try just one or two oils first before diving into the starter kit? I’m peri-menopausal with hot flashes so i’m definitely interested in something for that and I just found out I have arthritis in my shoulder ( i never thought at 46 I’d have arthritis ;-/ yuk! ) anyway, it’s VERY painful. Doctor did give me a cortisone shot and put me on a non-steroidal anti inflammatory so I have much relief…praise God! However, I would love to find an oil that may help so I can possibly avoid meds for this in the future. Thx for your input. Excited to get started 🙂

  24. Amy if you’re not comfortable giving your Social Security Number, you can click the Retail Customer button. You won’t get the 24 % wholesale price but you won’t have to give your social security number.
    Hope that helps,
    Cyndi

  25. Your SSN is your tax ID #. You have to give it, because when you sign up to be a distributor, you have the opportunity to earn money from the EOs, and the company has to report that to the IRS. It’s the same for all direct sales companies that anyone signs up with.

  26. A 15 ml bottle has about 250 drops in it. I use about 8 drops a day but you can start out using a couple of drops on each foot. That would let it last a couple of months.
    Hope that helps!
    Cyndi

  27. You can definitely diffuse them, you can inhale them by putting them in the palm of your hands and cupping them over your nose. I don’t think you need to do that very long.
You can also rub the oil on vita flex points. I’ll talk about those tomorrow.
    Blessings,
    Cyyndi

  28. Why do you have to give your social security number when ordering? That’s not something I want to do and I don’t have a tax ID number either.

  29. Hey Cindy,
That’s a great question. They are rubbed on the skin. They are different places you can put them including, wrists, neck, bottom of feet, side of feet. abdomen, etc.
I’ll show you some of how to do that tomorrow.
You can also diffuse them and ingest them. I’m a little more cautious on ingesting them. I do use Lemon Oil and I drink 2 oz. of Ningxia Red each day.
    Hope that helps!
    Cyndi

  30. Hey Kim,
I’ll share how I use them tomorrow. It’s easy. As far as which oil, everyone is different and sometimes it’s trial and error, just like medication.
But Ylang Ylang, Clary Sage and Progessence Plus are all good oils for the symptoms you’re having.
    Hope that helps!!
    Cyndi

  31. while I am unprepared to give specific titles, I know there are some excellent books re essential oils and issues they address and whether to diffuse them, use them in caps, use with coconut oil, in drinks. Just with so many other things a good google search will turn up a variety to choose from. Not sure which ones are best ?I am sure Cyndi and or Myra will do a yay or nay on them. *sorry ladies, as if you did not have enough to do.
I have just begun using some lemongrass per my acupuncturist to help with my thyroid issues. really praying for this assistance to be a good one.

  32. Thanks for that question, Cindy. I was wondering the same thing. But guess Cyndi will let us know next time how to use.

  33. Hello, Cyndi, I have a question for you that I hope is not the most ridiculous question ever! I’ve used essential oils for things like sleep and stress but that was putting drops in my bath. How do you use these for a specific medical issue? Add them to a diffuser? Sniff them? If so, for how long? Thanks!

  34. I am totally ignorant about essential oils. Are they rubbed on the skin in areas like the wrist or neck or are they added to food or drink?

  35. I am in post menopause and tried HRT for 3 weeks but gained 5 lbs., so immediately stopped them. I suffer from EXTREME exhaustion, even upon waking up. Hot flashes happen day and night. Libido, what libido? How do I know which oils would benefit me the most and how do you use them?

  36. Thanks for sharing Cyndi! I too am a fan of using natural remedies. I am fortunate to have a wonderful team of doctors who believe the same. Will ask the oils when I see them next.

  37. I am very interested in this topic and an wondering how you go about finding which oil or oils work for you. They seem to “help” such a variety of symptoms…I mean libido booster and head lice treatment in one? haha! And then a few symptoms seem to be listed on different oils. I am feeling overwhelmed!

  38. Just sent you a lengthy email. 🙂 Thank you for your willingness to share. This post reminds me a little bit of when I started to breastfeed my babies. All I ever heard beforehand was how amazing it was for the baby. That’s very true, but sometimes it helps to hear about the whole story, which can include clogged ducts and other issues, which aren’t fun. I was always so discouraged, thinking I was doing something wrong, because I didn’t love nursing. But because I searched out others who had a rough time, I got through it. I always appreciate a friend willing to open up about a shared experience. Perimenopause and menopause aren’t fun, but they don’t have to be so bad. Thanks again, Cyndi.

  39. How long does a bottle of Ylang Ylang last? It’s kind of pricey for my, but if it lasts a while, it may be worth a try. Peri menopause is killing me. Thanks!

  40. I really want to order this kit! We are in the process of moving over the next few weeks and not sure what our address will be!! But I will check back with you once we have a house and are settled. I’ve heard such great things about essential oils and I’m excited to try them!!

  41. While this is a difficult topic I so appreciate you writing about it. I currently am in peri menopause and having a few systems. I am interested to try the Ylang Ylang and Clary Sage. I did try the Progessence Plus but some of the label warnings made me nervous so I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts.
